"Letters of public are not just papers, but reflection of hope and faith": Uttarakhand CM Dhami
'Today, after reading some such complaint letters, I talked to the concerned complainants. Also, I have instructed the officials to take immediate action on them. Solution is the biggest identity of the working style of our government,' CM Dhami said.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, while talking to the complainants who sent letters to the Chief Minister's Office and shared their problems, has instructed the officials to take appropriate action on their issues. Karm Chand, a resident of Shergarh in Doiwala tehsil, had lodged a complaint that the irrigation canal coming to his field has broken, due to which there is a crisis of irrigation.
After listening to the entire problem, the Chief Minister directed the Chief Engineer, Irrigation Department, to take appropriate action in the matter.
Similarly, Major Naresh Kumar Saklani lodged a complaint about private persons encroaching on his land and building a minor irrigation canal, on which Chief Minister Dhami has directed the District Magistrate Dehradun to take immediate action.
Another complainant, Canal Road resident Dhirendra Shukla, has filed a complaint against the builder for harassment. The Chief Minister has asked MDDA to investigate the matter. The Chief Minister has also directed the Secretary of the Public Works Department to take action on the road-related complaint of Vikasnagar Dinkar Vihar resident Vishan Dutt Sharma.
Earlier today, the Uttarakhand CM flagged off the Kalash Yatra for the Jalabhishek of the idol of Lord Surya in Kushinagar district from his official residence in Dehradun.
As part of the initiative, water from around 151 sacred rivers across the country is being collected for the Jalabhishek of the Surya idol in Kushinagar. The Kalash Yatra, flagged off by the Chief Minister, includes water gathered from the holy rivers of Uttarakhand.
Mahamandaleshwar 1008 Swami Santoshanand Dev Maharaj, President of the Purvanchal Mahotsav Samiti Vinay Rai, along with other committee members, were present during the flagging-off ceremony.
Earlier on Thursday, in view of the Kanwar Yatra, the Uttarakhand government launched 'Operation Kalanemi' to take action against imposters who are hurting religious sentiments and duping people in the name of 'Sanatan Dharma'.
Chief Minister Dhami said that many such cases have come to light in the state where anti-social elements are cheating people, especially women, by disguising themselves as seers. This, he said, is not only hurting the religious sentiments of the people, but also harming the image of social harmony and Sanatan tradition. 'In such a situation, if a person of any religion is found doing such acts, then strict action will be ensured against him,' he added.
The Chief Minister referenced the mythological asura Kalanemi, stating that just like the demon had attempted to mislead by disguising himself as a saint, similarly, many 'Kalanemis' are active in society today who are committing crimes in religious guise. Dhami further said that his government is fully committed to protecting public sentiments, the dignity of Sanatan culture and maintaining social harmony. Those who spread hypocrisy in the name of faith will not be spared under any circumstances, he said. (ANI)

India hit 9 targets in Op Sindoor, killed 100 terrorists: Rajnath Singh in Lok Sabha
Defence minister Rajnath Singh on Monday said more than 100 terrorists were killed in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir during India's Operation Sindoor in May. Initiating the discussion in Lok Sabha during Parliament's Monsoon Session on the Operation Sindoor, India's military's response to the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, Rajnath Singh said nine terror attacks were targeted during the strike. I am speaking with caution, so that our figures are not incorrect — the actual number is much higher. Over 100 terrorists, their trainers, handlers, and those associated with terror groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba and Hizbul Mujahideen have been eliminated. These are the same terror outfits that receive open support from Pakistan's army and ISI,' Rajnath Singh said. Rajnath Singh said India had paused its military conflict with Pakistan in May as it had met all its political and military objectives and was not under any pressure. Labelling the military operation that was launched by the Indian armed forces as "historic", Singh paid tributes to the soldiers who always remain ready to sacrifice their lives for the nation. He said that India chose to inflict maximum damage to terrorists while ensuring that civilians remained unharmed. "Before carrying out Operation Sindoor, our armed forces conducted an in-depth study of every aspect. We had several options. But we chose the one that would inflict maximum damage on the terrorists and their hideouts, while causing no harm to Pakistani civilians. Soon after the Pahalgam attack, our armed forces took action and hit with precision the nine terrorist infra sites in which more than 100 terrorists, their trainers and handlers were targeted," Singh said. Prior to Singh's address, Lok Sabha was adjourned thrice till 2 pm amid the ruckus, with Opposition MPs entering the Well of the Lower House.

Kanwar Yatra: A balancing act between vibrant pilgrimage and uninterrupted civic life
Kanwar Yatra has now turned into an exhibition of a strong socio-political and cultural statement, often marked by noise, disruptions, and a visible declaration of religious identity in public spaces. Traditionally, the Kanwar Yatra is an emulation of Hindu mythological act of King Bhagirath in bringing the holy. What was earlier an act of penance and prayer, in recent decades has expanded in both scale and form, from being Spartan to opulent. What was once a quiet, barefoot pilgrimage is now, in many cases, a vibrant and sometimes chaotic procession involving motorbikes, trucks, decorated floats, and blaring DJ systems. Delhi, as a cosmopolitan and administrative hub, faces particular challenges during this period. The city's roads, already under pressure from dense traffic and infrastructure issues, are further strained by road closures, rerouting for Yatris, and checkpoints set up to manage their movement. Despite these disruptions, the 2025 Yatra was handled with commendable administrative care by the Rekha Gupta-led Delhi government. Crossing the tightrope between respecting religious sentiments and maintaining the functional integrity of civic life is no small feat. While the Delhi government sought to maintain law and order and civic harmony, it also had to ensure that no action was seen as obstructing the religious fervour of the devotees, lest it be accused of being 'anti-Hindu' in a polarized political climate. This balancing act was largely successful in logistical terms: no major incidents of violence or breakdowns in law enforcement were reported. However, there were some aspects of the Yatra which could not be managed to the satisfaction of residents. The most glaring failure in the otherwise orderly handling of the Kanwar Yatra was the uncontrolled use of high-decibel DJ music systems mounted on trucks and floats accompanying the processions. These sound systems blared remixed musicat such high volumes that shook window panes, disrupted sleep cycles, and sparked anxiety among residents. The noise pollution was not just a matter of inconvenience; it was a violation of legal norms.
