Mexico's Banorte once again weighs Banamex purchase
"There are a lot of moving pieces," CEO Marcos Ramirez said. "So we will watch closely what's going on and propose."
Banorte had previously bowed out of the competition for Banamex in 2022, though Citi was ultimately unable to find a buyer for the unit.
Citi was close to selling it to mining conglomerate Grupo Mexico for $7 billion, though tensions between the group and then-President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador led to the deal falling apart.
Instead Citi is set to list Banamex, which could be a possible dual listing in Mexico City and New York.
"Our duty is to see whatever is on the market and analyze it, and then our board will decide, and then (shareholders), the owners of the company," Ramirez said.
Banorte will have a shareholders meeting later on Wednesday. The firm will also propose a dividend of 9.99 pesos ($0.5090) per share as well as re-establishing a 32-billion-peso share buyback fund over the next 12 months.
($1 = 19.6258 Mexican pesos)

Brand went from holiday park food truck to restaurant before closing - now it has 'popped' back up
A brand that started up in a holiday park food truck before opening a now closed restaurant is making a comeback. The Coconut Kitchen launched back in 2006 at an Abersoch caravan site - offering Thai street food. It later went on to open a restaurant in that village as well as developing a popular range of Thai cooking sauces and curry pastes. While the sauces continue to be sold across the UK, the restaurant closed in 2018. Paul Withington, director of CK Foods and Drinks Ltd and one of the original founders of The Coconut Kitchen, has continued to develop the sauce and paste brand while travelling and doing some festivals. But now he is making a 'semi-permanent' comeback not far from where it all began. Coconut Kitchen has taken on a position at Y Maes, Criccieth's brand-new food and drink hub. This is located in a beautifully restored historic building right in the heart of town and they are joining four other food vendors. Paul said they are signed up for three months - giving their former fans a chance to once again taste their Thai offerings. Paul said: "We are heading back to where it all began—serving up delicious, authentic Thai food just a few miles from where their journey started 19 years ago. 'We're so excited to be back where it all started. I was cooking Thai food in that first food truck almost two decades ago, and now, after years of travelling and cooking my way around Thailand, I'll be back behind the grill - this time in Criccieth.' Every dish served will be made using The Coconut Kitchen's award-winning range of retail sauces and pastes - which have racked up 13 Great Taste Awards to date. Paul said: "Diners can expect restaurant-quality Thai curries, noodles and stir-fries, with the added bonus of discovering just how easy it is to recreate those flavours at home." Lloyd Edwards, the owner of the new venue, said: "Y Maes is delighted to welcome The Coconut Kitchen to join our food hub team this year. 'As an established and much-loved local business, The Coconut Kitchen brings a wealth of flavour, experience, and community spirit to our kitchen space. "Their passion for authentic Thai cuisine and commitment to quality has earned them a loyal following across the region, and we couldn't be more excited to have them join us here in the heart of Criccieth. Croeso cynnes i'r teulu – welcome to the family, Coconut Kitchen!' The new venue already has four other kiosks operating - offering wood fired pizza, smash burgers, Mexican food, and puddings and smoothies. Lloyd added: "Y Maes is an exciting new addition to Criccieth's high street - a modern, welcoming space with five independent food vendors, a bar, and a large, open-plan communal seating area. It's designed to bring people together over great local food and drink, making it the perfect showcase for a North Wales food brand with a national following.

UK's biggest energy supplier is ‘on verge of splitting from tech arm' in £10billion demerger
OCTOPUS Energy Group has sparked a £10 billion pound demerger from tech arm Kraken. The UK's biggest energy supplier is planning to separate from its technology arm Kraken with plans to hire bankers to oversee the deal. It is expected that the demerger will take place in the next year and would see existing investors given shares in the newly independent Kraken firm. A minority stake in Kraken of up to 20% is expected to be sold to external shareholders. One banking source told Sky News that Kraken could be valued at as much as £10.25bn. It has now been revealed that Octopus is looking to hire bankers to oversee the demerger with Citi, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan and Stanley Morgan invited to pitch for the demerger mandate. Kraken is an operating system which is licensed to other energy providers and water companies. Octopus Energy has around 7.5 million retail customers in Britain and a further 2. million outside the Britain, in January it announced that it was the country's biggest supplier. The firm passed British Gas with a 24% market share. The £10 billion valuation of Kraken would reportedly suggest that the whole group, including the retail supply business was worth around £15 billion. 1
