TV fans binge 'outstanding' true story drama quietly added to Netflix
The Trial of Christine Keeler, which first aired on BBC One in 2019, is very much what it says on the tin, with a late-stage courtroom drama in the six-parter.
So who is Christine Keeler? Most will remember this major political uproar as the Profumo affair, centred around disgraced politician John Profumo. But this drama gives that story a fresh perspective: that of the woman at the eye of the media storm.
Keeler, played by Sophie Cookson, is a 19-year-old model living in Notting Hill with her boyfriend Johnny (Nathan Stewart-Jarrett) and having a whale of a time after a difficult childhood.
That is, until she meets the osteopath to the stars Stephen Ward (James Norton), who knows everyone worth knowing (including, The Crown fans will remember, Prince Phillip). He spends most of his screen time calling Christine 'little baby'.

It is Ward who introduces her to John Profumo, played by Ben Miles (again, to The Crown fans, the tragic Peter Townsend). Miles nails the creepiness of this older man – not to mention a secretary of state – leering over a teenage Christine when they first meet at a countryside pool party.
Under Ward's watchful eye Christine and Profumo grow close and go on to have an affair. When a possible Russian national security risk is revealed by their relationship, it sets off a series of events that lead to public scandal.
If The Crown comparisons weren't already obvious, this is definitely one fans of that Netflix mainstay will enjoy. It plays in the same paddling pool of the upper crust, but approaches it from the perspective of a woman who started life at the opposite end of the class ladder.
The real-life Christine Keeler died in 2017, so sadly never got to see this adaptation of her life.

Experiencing the facts of the Profumo affair against the maelstrom of modern politics – which we often go to TV for respite from – makes the scandal that dominated 1962 headlines now seem quaint.
A politician who actually resigned after misconduct? Imagine. Said disgraced politician spending the rest of his chastened life devoted to charity work? It may as well be pure fiction.
Real-life Christine was only a teen when her life turned upside down and the show goes some way to capturing how utterly disorientating that would be.
Depending on what flavour of show you're after, you will either be fascinated or infuriated by James Norton's Ward character. He is an inscrutable man of contradictions, played purposefully enigmatic. The show never really decides whether he is a sinner or a saint in the crossfire.
Netflix quietly added the show to its catalogue last week and viewers have already been tuning in to watch all six episodes. More Trending

Coronation Street viewers have been introduced to Rani Alahan, the Aunt of Dev Alahan, but the actress has actually been on the programme before on several occasions. Coronation Street viewers have been introduced to Rani Alahan, the aunt of Dev Alahan (Jimmi Harkishin), who has arrived just in time for his wedding to Bernie Winter (Jane Hazlegrove). She quickly caused a stir at number seven as she set about taking control of the nuptials and the bride-to-be adopted a posh accent in a bid to impress her. The character is played by Josephine Lloyd-Welcome and, while she is now taking on a whole new role, this is not the first time she has been seen walking the cobbles of the nation's most famous street. From 2004 until 2009, she appeared on an intermittent basis as Doctor Patel and was initially seen on-screen with Dev and Sunita Alahan (Shobna Gulati) as she delivered the results of his then-wife's blood tests prior to her brain tumour diagnosis. Following that, she shared scenes with legendary matriarch Gail Platt (Helen Worth) and Jerry Morton (Michael Starke), when her character visited the former kebab shop owner following a health scare. In 2010, she appeared as an unnamed doctor who checked on Asha Alahan (Tanisha Gorey), who is her new character's great-niece, for suspected meningitis. And in 2012, she was seen Raveena Bhatia, who was the boss of Marcus Dent (Charlie Condou) when he worked as a midwife at Weatherfield General. At the time, she played a part in his storyline that saw the openly gay character having an affair with Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon), and she spotted them both together in the Bistro. But Josephine's new part comes as Weatherfield businessman Dev, who first appeared on the soap in 1999, made a comeback after six months away. As well as her various stints on Coronation Street, Josephine has also appeared in a wealth of other British television staples throughout her lengthy career. Earlier this year, she appeared as Devika Babu in the penultimate episode of the latest episode of Doctor Who alongside Ncuti Gatwa, and she has also starred in episodes of Not Going Out, EastEnders, Doctors, Casualty, and Holby City. In 2021, she appeared the regular role of Rainbow on the Nickelodeon sitcom Goldie's Oldies. But Josephine is not the only soap star to have appeared in Coronation Street in various roles before making a comeback in a regular part. Way back in the early days of the show, Jean Alexander played landlady Mrs Webb over the course of two episodes before rejoining in her signature role as the iconic Hilda Ogden. Similarly, Beverley Callard played the one-off part of June Dewhurst, a friend of Gail and Brian Tilsley in the early 1980s before she truly made her mark on the programme as Rovers Return landlady Liz McDonald. Years later, Lisa George played a family liaison officer on more than one occasion before she arrived to play feisty knicker stitcher Beth Sutherland from 2011, and Catherine Tyldesley, who is thought to be making a comeback as former barmaid Eva Price, played a midwife before she landed what became her most famous role. We haven't got an exit date yet for the character, but with his father Dev Alahan returning to Weatherfield after months offscreen, amid two big twists for his son, it seems it could be soon. Aadi was caught up in drama just weeks ago when he planned to take LSD at a party only for someone else to unknowingly take it. That person, Lauren Bolton, nearly died and has yet to find out Aadi was involved. He's been trying to make amends by helping her out, and in upcoming scenes they grow closer - with this no doubt set to end in heartache. Also, Aadi was the victim of theft last week when someone robbed the shop. Of course it soon emerged that Aadi had staged the whole thing, with the help of troubled teen Brody Michaelis. Brody took off with the money, or so it was assumed as Aadi claimed £6,000 was taken. He was later forced to confess to his stepmother Bernie Winter that this was the amount he was in debt after taking out a loan. He'd taken the money from the safe to pay off said loan, hoping the robbery would allow them to claim on the insurance. Next week the drama continues when Aadi realises the insurance company won't pay out. With the money gone, surely it's only a matter of time before he's forced to explain all to his father Dev. Aadi is facing big trouble once he's exposed for both the staged robbery and the LSD spiking, not to mention the betrayal towards his family with the theft of their money to fix his mistake, without telling anyone. With it confirmed Aadi is leaving the show soon, will this all lead to him leaving home for good?

Hulk Hogan was 'devastated' by boos during final WWE appearance before death
Wrestling star Hulk Hogan, who died aged 71 this month, was 'devastated' by the negative reaction from the crowd during his final WWE appearance Wrestling legend Hulk Hogan was 'devastated' by the boos he heard from the audience during his final WWE appearance before his death aged 71. The star was found "experiencing a serious medical-related issue" in a house on Eldorado Avenue in Florida and was taken to Morton Plant Hospital in the morning of July 24. He died at 11.17am in the hospital, and there were "no signs of foul play or suspicious activity", Major Nate Burnside said in a statement. It was recently reported that the wrestler died from acute myocardial infarction, commonly known as a heart attack, per the Pinellas County Forensic Science Centre. The star, real name Terry Bollea, was said to be poorly in the weeks leading up to his death, but his reps were forced to deny speculations about his health. It comes after Sharon Osbourne broke down in tears at Ozzy's funeral in heartbreaking scenes. Meanwhile, six months before he died, Hogan took to the stage at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California, for a guest appearance in Netflix's WWE series Raw. His longtime pal and manager, Jimmy Hart, recently said Hogan was shocked by the negative reaction he received from the audience and claimed it "bothered him". Speaking on the Stories With Brisco and Bradshaw podcast, Jimmy explained: "We go out and we had a mixed reaction. You can have 500 people cheering you and one person booing you, but I'll be darned if that one person doesn't outshine [the people cheering]. "It's a mixed reaction, but it's a little bit more boos than anything. That devastated him." The manager suggested the boos were due to the wrestler's support for controversial US President Donald Trump. Hogan previously appeared at the Republican National Convention to back the convicted felon's return to the White House. Jimmy added: "We got in the back and he said: 'What do you think happened?' I said: 'Hulk, it's simple, blue state, red state. Boom'. "But that bothered him because of that ... Then the next week we're in Texas, and it's all cheers, you know, but that always bothered him. It sure did." During the appearance, he was heard telling the unimpressed crowd: "In the past, I've had a whole bunch of partners down the line. I had incredible partners, like the Macho Man Randy Savage. I've had giant-sized partners like Andre the Giant. "But the greatest partner the WWE has ever had is the fact that tonight, we're making history, and the WWE has tag teamed up with Netflix, the greatest tag team partner of all time." Hogan's death last week was confirmed by the WWE, who posted a statement on X saying: 'WWE is saddened to learn WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan has passed away. One of pop culture's most recognisable figures, Hogan helped WWE achieve global recognition in the 1980s. WWE extends its condolences to Hogan's family, friends, and fans." Hogan headlined the first Wrestlemania in 1985 and faced The Rock, aka Dwayne Johnson, during the event in 2002. His last WWE match was against Randy Orton at SummerSlam in 2006.

Fury then moved to a larger mansion further down the Morecambe coastline, honouring his public pledge not to leave his beloved home town - but it was reported the property was still in his portfolio in 2023. Rightmove records show the three-bath detached property was bought for £480,000 in 2015 and is now listed for £800,000. Tyson Fury has been contacted for comment.
