Truvant to close one of its Wisconsin facilities, 74 employees impacted by layoffs

PRAIRIE DU CHIEN, Wis. (WFRV) – A packaging and labeling company in southwestern Wisconsin is preparing to shut down one of its facilities, citing shifting business conditions and resulting in layoffs affecting dozens of workers.
According to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) letter filed with the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development, Truvant North America will permanently close its Prairie du Chien North facility at 800 N. State Street.

The closure will impact all 74 employees currently working at or reporting to the site. Of those, 44 jobs will be permanently eliminated. The remaining 30 employees have accepted offers to transfer to other Truvant facilities located within reasonable commuting distance.
Truvant says layoffs are expected to begin on or around July 15, 2025, with the full closure scheduled for that same day. The company says it is providing employees with at least 60 days' notice.

The affected employees are not part of a union, and bumping rights, which would allow more senior employees to displace junior ones, will not apply in this case.

(WFRV) – Dairy brand Kemps is donating nearly 800,000 cartons of milk in 2025 to food banks across the Midwest, and on Wednesday, Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin received over 30,000. The 'Giving Cow' chocolate milk cartons were donated to the Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin center in Appleton. Green Bay Area Public School District begins Summer Meals Program, providing free food to students The idea for the massive donation came from the recent rise in food costs, and in eastern Wisconsin alone, about 459,000 people are experiencing food insecurity, according to Feeding America. In Wisconsin as a whole, that number is over 617,000, with about a third of them being children. The reason for the milk donation is that it's one of the most requested and least donated items at food pantries, as many lack proper refrigeration. SAUKVILLE, Wis. (WFRV) – A Wisconsin company that provides energy solutions, including power generation and energy storage, has announced it will be closing its facility and laying off 66 employees. According to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) letter submitted to the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development (DWD), Discover Energy, LLC, doing business under the name Rehlko (formerly known as Kohler Energy), is permanently closing its Saukville facility located at 300 N. Wave one will occur on or within 14 days of August 8, wave two on or within 14 days of September 5, and wave three on or within 14 days of December 31. The WARN letter states that the 66 employees being laid off are not represented by a union, and bumping rights do not apply. Bumping rights would allow senior employees to take over positions currently held by less senior employees, but this will not be the case in this instance.
