Sony Bravia 2 Mark II TV review: A flagship-level upgrade for your living room
Rating: 4/5 As the technology in the TV space evolves, the arrival of a new television model always sparks curiosity, promising advancements that could redefine our viewing experiences. Sony has been among those brands that has historically been synonymous with TVs, among other products, thanks to the inclusion of the latest technology. The company recently launched the Sony Bravia 2 Mark II which is positioned as an evolution from its predecessors, representing more than a mere incremental update. The Sony Bravia 2 Mark II is packed with design innovations, and brings along performance enhancements over its predecessor as well as some smart capabilities. Sony emphasises that the new TV promises an enhanced overall user experience and performance at a price starting at Rs 69,990 for the 43-inch variant (on the website). The company also noted that the Bravia 2 Mark II's advancements are built upon four fundamental pillars: design, immersive audio capabilities, intelligent smart features and intuitive user interaction. We used the TV, and here's our take on the overview of these advancements. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Brain tumor has left my son feeling miserable. Please help! Ketto Donate Now Undo Sony Bravia 2 Mark II: Design and display Modern TV design has evolved to integrate into contemporary living spaces, and Sony Bravia 2 Mark II falls true to this philology. The television features a 'flush surface', or in simpler words, a 'bezel-less" display that aims to minimise visual distractions and maximise the screen-to-body ratio. This design essentially means that you get a sense of a bigger picture that appears to extend to the very edges of the TV, effectively dissolving the boundary between the screen and the surrounding environment. Complementing this, the 'floating design' concept makes the screen appear to hover, significantly reducing the visual bulk of the television and contributing to a more elegant appeal. The screen is fitted with a slim T-shape blade stand so there's minimal distraction when you're watching the TV. We think that the best way to get it fixed on a wall for maximum viewing comfort. A standard tech in Sony's upper-range TVs is X-Protection PRO and Bravia 2 Mark II also get it. This protects the TV from dust, humidity, power surges and lightning strikes. Coming to the display, the TV gets a 4K TV panel with 3,840 x 2,160 pixels resolution and 50Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, there's a 4K Processor X1 that keeps things smooth, up and running. Other features that complement the vibrant display include Dynamic Contrast Enhancer, Live Colour Technology and Rich Colour Enhancer. As their names suggest, they elevate the viewing experience when you are watching a 'dull' video. The TV improves the appearance of older, lower-quality videos, making them look sharper. For instance, when we watched the 1993 film Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama on YouTube during our review, the TV's technology enhanced the video, making it appear more detailed and visually pleasing. The 4K X-Reality PRO feature is key to this quality improvement. It is to be noted that while it upgrades the picture, it doesn't completely transform the original low-resolution content. Another notable feature is Motionflow XR 200, which ensures smooth on-screen motion. This technology reduces blur in fast-paced content, like high-speed chases or car racing games, keeping the action clear and detailed. During our review, we found that a brightly-lit room caused problems because of the reflective nature of the screen. This glare can lead to eye strain, fatigue and headaches for some users, making extended use a bit uncomfortable. Sony Bravia 2 Mark II: Sound and smart features While visual fidelity is top-notch, with Bravia 2 Mark II, Sony aims to deliver an 'immersive entertainment experience' and for that, the company is complementing the video capabilities with advanced audio features. It gets a 10W + 10W speaker setup, (Open Baffle Speakers). The television boasts comprehensive support for industry-leading audio technologies, including Dolby Atmos, Dolby Audio and DTS. Dolby Atmos is particularly notable for its ability to create a multi-dimensional soundscape, allowing individual sounds to be precisely placed and moved around and above the viewer. Furthermore, DTS support guarantees compatibility with a broad range of high-fidelity audio formats. During our review duration, we found that this Sony TV worked best with content that has 5.1 audio support. Notably, the volume level drops a bit but there's an increase in audio quality. For example, during a scene in Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar's Revenge , where characters who are under water are being pulled up using a chain. The audio tech in the Sony TV allows for easy distinction of all sound layers. For example, chain sounds, water effects, characters' dialogues and the musical score are all individually identifiable, without any one element drowning out another. In the dogfight scene from Top Gun: Maverick , the sound output effectively combines multiple explosions, the musical score, and the chaotic sounds of fighter planes. This layering creates a dramatic and intense auditory experience. Coming to the one of the most important parts and often overlooked feature: the television remote control that serves as a crucial interface that significantly impacts daily user satisfaction. For the Bravia 2 Mark II, Sony has introduced a significant upgrade in the form of the Premium Eco Remote with shortcut keys for YouTube, Netflix and Crunchyroll – a highly popular streaming service for anime and manga enthusiasts. Underpinning the TVs smart capabilities is the Google TV operating system. This platform offers a user-friendly interface, personalised content recommendations and easy integration with various Google services. It's like an extension of your Android phone on a TV. Features such as Google Assistant enable effortless voice control for navigation and content search. Complementing these features is Sony's exclusive Bravia Core streaming service. Bravia Core provides access to high-quality streaming content, including titles optimised with IMAX Enhanced and DTS audio, delivering a premium cinematic experience tailored specifically for Sony televisions. A key highlight for modern consumers, particularly gamers, is the inclusion of HDMI 2.1 ports that support 4K resolution at a 120Hz refresh rate, ensuring ultra-smooth and fluid gameplay. If you own a PlayStation, this TV is a treat to eyes. It also incorporates Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), which synchronizes the display's refresh rate with the console's output, eliminating screen tearing. Furthermore, Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) automatically switches the television into a low-latency mode when a gaming signal is detected. In terms of wireless capabilities, the Bravia 2 Mark II includes standard Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. Verdict The Sony Bravia 2 Mark II delivers on its promise of a 'level up' in home entertainment. Starting at Rs 69,990, the TV stands out through its innovative design, featuring a flush, bezel-less display paired with equally immersive audio which is powered by Dolby Atmos and DTS support. The user experience is significantly enhanced by the Premium Eco Remote with shortcut keys for popular streaming services. The Bravia 2 Mark II's comprehensive suite of integrated high-end capabilities kinda justifies its price point. The value proposition lies in its ability to deliver a holistic experience. Now the question is, 'Should you buy it?'. This TV is a notable upgrade in terms of audio and video capabilities. If you're in the market for a new television, we recommend considering this model, especially since TVs are a long-term investment. For those who prioritise the latest technology, it's a top choice for a relatively uncompromised viewing experience. AI Masterclass for Students. Upskill Young Ones Today!– Join Now

Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold Specs Leaked Ahead Of Possible August Launch: What We Know
Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold is expected to have more screen space and a bigger battery but will that be enough? Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold is expected to be announced along with the other Pixel 10 series model soon, and new leaks give us a clear picture about the next-gen fold model. The company has a lot of competition and ground to make up on its rivals, as seen with the latest Galaxy Z Fold 7 from Samsung and the X Fold 5 by Vivo. So we were eager to see how the new Pixel foldable shapes up in front of the latest models in the market. The new leak in a report by Android Headlines talks about the Pixel 10 Pro Fold display, its hardware, camera setup and even the size of the battery. Pixel 10 Pro Fold Specs Leaked The new Pixel 10 Pro Fold model is expected to get a 6.4-inch cover OLED display and an 8-inch inner screen with up to 3000 nits of peak brightness. The device should get the Tensor G5 chipset with up to 16GB RAM which is the usual upgrade over the year for a product from Google. The imaging side of affairs could see less changes, with a 48MP sensor, a 10.5MP ultrawide lens and a 10.8MP telephoto lens likely to be offered in a triple setup. However, the most important change could be the Pixel 10 Pro Fold battery, which could get bumped up to 5,015mAh unit, which is over 500mAh more than the unit on the 9 Pro Fold from Google. The charging speed might still be the same as around 23W wired and 15W wireless speeds. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold is estimated to be slightly thicker than the Pixel 9 Pro Fold as it is tipped to measure around 5.3 mm when unfolded. The existing model, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold comes at 5.1 mm and the increase could be attributed to the battery size. Google appears to be sticking with its signature design language, particularly the rectangular camera bar on the rear. This dual-stage module houses vertically arranged lenses, with the device expected to retain the 48MP main camera from the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. Does this also mean a price hike for the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, we surely hope Google keeps it similar or even launches it at a lower range this year. view comments First Published: July 16, 2025, 11:23 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
