Hugh Freeze believes Auburn's QB room rivals the best in the nation

Hugh Freeze believes Auburn's QB room rivals the best in the nation Freeze is confident that his quarterbacks can lead Auburn to new heights, but they must execute on the field.
Auburn's offense will be loaded in 2025, with a talented group of quarterbacks leading the way.
Hugh Freeze replaced outgoing senior Payton Thorne, as well as Hank Brown and Walker White, with Oklahoma transfer Jackson Arnold, Stanford transfer Ashton Daniels, and talented freshman Deuce Knight. When pieced together with an experienced offensive line and a talented wide receiver group, Auburn's quarterback room can compete with the best units in the SEC.
The revamped unit brings confidence to Hugh Freeze. In a recent episode of the Paul Finebaum Show, Freeze said that his room has the skills to be considered one of the best in the conference, just as long as they can prove it on the field.
'I like our quarterback room a lot. I would argue that between Jackson (Arnold) and Deuce (Knight) and Ashton (Daniels), our quarterback room rivals the top rooms in this league. Now we've got to go prove it," Freeze said. "Jackson didn't prove it last year at Oklahoma. There are a lot of factors that could have gone into that. We could talk about, all the injuries, that they had three different coordinators, his loss of confidence. But I do think I saw a growing confidence through him all the way through spring."
Freeze indicated that Arnold will be Auburn's starter when the Tigers open the season at Baylor in August, thanks to his "high IQ" and "no excuses" attitude. Freeze shared with Finebaum the tools that makes Arnold an SEC-caliber player.
'His arm strength — he can make every single throw as a true freshman, and I haven't seen that a lot,' Freeze said. 'He's got this demeanor about him that everybody wants to be around him and is drawn to him. And he has this humility to where, literally, there was not one time in spring ball where something didn't go his way and it was always him taking the blame.'
Auburn posted the SEC's No. 6 passing offense last season with 263.9 yards per game and ranked No. 4 in the SEC in passing touchdowns with 12. However, the area that could use the most improvement is scoring. The Tigers scored 27.8 points per game last season, which ranked No. 12 among SEC teams. If Arnold plays to the level that Freeze expects, Auburn will see an increase across all categories.

New York Jets place former FSU star on PUP list

Achilles who?😂😂😂 All Glory to God man fr. Blessed is an understatement!!🙏🏾💯. The New York Jets have placed edge Jermaine Johnson on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list. He will be able to attend meetings and use the team facilities, but is not allowed to practice while on the PUP List and he can be activated at any point once he is ready. Johnson is recovering from a torn Achilles that he suffered on Sept. 15 in their game against the Tennessee Titans. He took to social media to share that his recovery is going well and they "want to move slow." "I will be on PUP because the team wants to move slow to be safe, which I agree with. Not because I'm not ready. All is well," he wrote. He is entering his fourth year with the Jets after they took him with the 26th overall pick in the 2022 NFL draft. He made the 2023 Pro Bowl after making 55 tackles, 11.0 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, defending seven passes, and returning one interception for a touchdown. He has played in 33 games and made 19 starts, recording 88 tackles, 10.0 sacks, 15.0 tackles for loss, and 21 quarterback hits. He also shared a video of himself working out on the field, where he was able to run and execute some drills. Iowa football Big Ten home opener among ESPN's top conference games

As the 2025-26 college football season approaches, ESPN released an article featuring the top 10 Big Ten games of the season, with one particular Iowa football matchup involving an upward-trending conference opponent. While the beginning of the season features many high-profile matchups in both conference play and non-conference action, ESPN has listed Iowa's Sept. 27 game against Indiana from Kinnick Stadium as one of its top matchups. Indiana is fresh off one of their most successful seasons in program history in 2024, where the Hoosiers finished with an overall record of 11-2, an 8-2 conference record, and qualified for the program's first-ever College Football Playoff appearance in head coach Curt Cignetti's first season. While ESPN did not provide much of an explanation as to why they chose the Sept. 27 game against the Hoosiers over the other impactful matchups on the Hawkeyes' slate, the clash between both former Big Ten West division foes will be Iowa's first significant challenge of the season and be a precursor for their ability to compete against the conference's top programs later on. The article also took a deep dive into each Big Ten program's outlook for the upcoming season, identifying Iowa's need to win close games with its consistently stingy defense, as the strength of its newly improved offense is still unknown. With six games projected within one score and visits from Penn State and Oregon (you know Iowa will scare at least one of them), close games will make the difference between potential CFP contention and finishing 7-5. But it's almost comforting knowing exactly what the Hawkeyes are going to look like regardless. - Bill Connelly, ESPN The Hawkeyes open their 2025-26 campaign on Aug. 30, when FCS-level UAlbany visits Kinnick Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. CT and will be broadcast on FS1. Iowa football 2025 schedule preview: Week 3 vs UMass

Following a tough challenge on the road against Iowa State, the Hawkeyes will return home to Kinnick Stadium in Week 3 for their final non-conference game of the 2025 season. The UMass Minutemen will make the trip over to Iowa City to try and steal a big road win. It won't be easy for them, as they've been one of the worst FBS football schools over the past decade. UMass hasn't won more than four games in a season since it joined the FBS in 2012. They're 6-46 since the 2019 season and have struggled to gain any traction over the past decade and a half. They're currently coached by Joe Harasymiak, who was hired in December to be the 32nd head football coach in the program's history. UMass plays its home games at Warren McGuirk Alumni Stadium in Hadley, Massachusetts. It's going to take a lot of things going right for UMass to pull off the upset. For starters, they'll have to lean on some solid veterans returning for the 2025 season. Who are some of the key returners for UMass? Who are some exciting newcomers for the Minuteman? History between the Hawkeyes and Minutemen Iowa and UMass have never faced each other in football before, so the winner of this Week 3 matchup will hold the edge in this matchup for a while. It's a game the Hawkeyes should win, but that doesn't mean Iowa fans should pencil in a win just yet. They'll need to go out and take care of business to set themselves up in a good spot entering Big Ten conference play. Kick-off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on September 13.
