Royal Enfield Himalayan Electric To Be RE's Most Powerful Bike: Report
Based on Zigwheels' report, the Royal Enfield Himalayan electric will come with a 14 kWh battery pack. Along with it, the brand is going to offer an onboard charger. To add perspective, the Ultraviolette F77 comes with a 10.3 kWh battery pack. The power from the battery is transferred to an electric motor sourced from Stark. It is to be noted that RE has a stake in the brand.

The power-producing unit has an output of 74.5 kW, which is 100 hp of power, as per the report. If this remains the case when the motorcycle lands on the production line, it will be the most powerful motorcycle with the Royal Enfield badge. This will make the motorcycle capable of breaching the 120 kmph mark. There is no information on the range of the motorcycle. However, expectations are that the bike will offer something around 200-250 km. The power produced by the motor can be tweaked depending on the rider's need via four modes: Zen, Off-Road, Tour, and Rally. More details on the machine are yet to come.
Appearance-wise, the Royal Enfield Himalayan electric will have similarities with the 450 cc ICE version of the bike. However, there will be changes because of the electric powertrain. The cycle parts will also likely be different compared to the ICE version. Furthermore, it is expected to come packed with more features.

After two-month slide, auto industry steadies for festive jumpstart
Domestic passenger vehicle sales increased about 1% in July, marking a slight recovery after two consecutive months of decline, amid persistently sluggish consumer demand. Companies are cautiously optimistic that sales will accelerate further during the coming festive season, starting with Onam later this month. As many as 348,000 cars, sedans, and utility vehicles were dispatched from factories to dealerships last month, compared with 344,000 vehicles in July 2024, according to industry estimates. Retail sales were flat at about 328,000 vehicles last month. At the country's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki , wholesale volumes were largely unchanged at 137,776 vehicles last month. Partho Banerjee, senior executive officer (marketing and sales) said while Maruti has seen an uptick in bookings ahead of the festive season, starting with Onam in Kerala, conversions are slow. Bihar Assembly Elections: Seemanchal, close to Bangladesh, sees significant voter deletion
Bihar's Seemanchal region which accommodates four districts - Araria, Kishanganj, Purnia and Katihar - has witnessed a significant voter deletion in the draft electoral roll. Since the region is close to Bangladesh and shares boundaries with Nepal, these four districts, which have a high Muslim population, are known for infiltration. Araria saw a deletion of 1,58,072 voters, Kishanganj 1,45,668, Purnia 2,73,920 and Katihar 1,84,254 in the draft list. Now after the deletion, the number of voters in Araria stands at 19,24,414; Kishanganj 10,86,242; Purnia 19,94,511 and Katihar 20,44,809. The Seemanchal region, which has 24 assembly seats, is considered a tough battlefield for both main political players - ruling NDA and main Opposition INDIA bloc (previously known as Mahagathbandhan) because of polarisation of voters on communal lines during the elections. Volvo shifts gears, to offer both EVs & ICE models in India
Volvo Cars will continue to introduce both electric and internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles in India, pivoting its earlier strategy of going all-electric amid slow customer adoption of battery electric vehicles (BEVs). The Swedish luxury carmaker had last year said it will henceforth sell only electric vehicles in India in its bid to have an all-electric portfolio by the turn of the decade. Volvo's strategy mirrors those of other global car makers like Jaguar Land Rover, and Mercedes Benz who are revising plans to have an all-electric product range. 'We will continue to drive in electric cars and have a launch lined up later this year itself. But at the same time, we will continue to focus on ICE,' said Malhotra. Live Events EVs currently contribute about 25% of Volvo's sales in India. The market for such eco-friendly luxury cars is however still small though it is growing, according to the company. 'About a year back, EVs had started losing steam. We are seeing some uptick in the segment in the last six months. But customer needs are different across regions,' said Malhotra. 'Home charging is extremely important for customer comfort when it comes to owning EVs. In cities, where there are high-rises, charging electric cars is challenging,' he said, adding Volvo is seeing stronger EV adoption in states like Kerala, Maharashtra, and Delhi where there are low-rises and state policies are conducive. He was speaking on the sidelines of the launch of the XC60 SUV model. Globally, Volvo does have plug-in hybrids in its portfolio, but Malhotra said the company will only consider launching them in India if the tax structures are more conducive. India currently levies a Goods and Services Tax (GST) rate of 5% on EVs, and 43% on hybrids. Overall, Malhotra said luxury car sales in India, which had been outpacing the broader car market in the last few years, slowed in the first half of 2025 as volatile stock markets, and mounting geopolitical tensions hit demand among the country's rich, aspirational buyers. He however added that Volvo is on track to meet its sales target for this calendar year though industry growth is likely to be muted. Per industry estimates, around 22,900 luxury cars were sold in the first half of 2025, a 1.8% rise from a year earlier. Separately, Malhotra termed free trade agreements being inked or negotiated by the Indian government as a step in the right direction, which will help to grow the auto industry in the long run. 'The UK FTA has set a benchmark. While the one with the EU is still some time away, free trade agreements are good for the economy. India is seen as a market with growth potential. If any company were to invest in India today, they will only consider the scale available in the market here. With FTAs, the scale changes immediately as they open up access to many more markets globally,' he said, adding Volvo can also explore possibilities for expanding its footprint in India once the EU trade deal is finalised.
