Singer Connie Francis Dies At 87: A Look At Her Life, Career And Legacy
Legendary singer Connie Francis's unfortunate death on July 16 left her fans devastated. Best known for her timeless hit Pretty Little Baby, Francis passed away at the age of 87. The news of her death came just two weeks after she was reportedly admitted to the ICU due to undisclosed health issues.
Ron Roberts, Connie Francis's close friend, shared the heartbreaking update on Facebook, writing, 'It is with a heavy heart and extreme sadness that I inform you of the passing of my dear friend Connie Francis last night."
Connie Francis Career
Born as Concetta Franconero in Newark, New Jersey, in 1937, Connie Francis emerged as one of the singing sensations in the 1950s and '60s. With her undeniable talent, she generated a loyal fan base across the globe and went on to sell over 200 million records worldwide. Some of her unforgettable classics include Stupid Cupid, Who's Sorry Now, Frankie and of course, Pretty Little Baby.
Though Pretty Little Baby failed to make waves upon its release initially, it recently witnessed a dramatic resurgence thanks to Instagram and TikTok influencers who created reels on the song. The track has been streamed over 2.4 billion times globally, securing the top spots on the charts more than six decades after its original release.
Speaking to People Magazine about the unexpected popularity of the song, Francis said, 'To think that a song I recorded 63 years ago is touching the hearts of millions of people is truly awesome… To see that they're paying homage to me is just breathtaking."
Personal Life And Tragic Past
Connie Francis' personal life was anything but easy. In 1974, she suffered a horrific assault after a performance at the Westbury Music Fair in New York. The incident left a lasting impact on her mental health and forced her to step away from performing for years.
The tragedies did not end there. Her brother was murdered just a few years later, and she was forcibly hospitalised by her own father for mental health treatment. The rift between father and daughter continued for years until the former passed away in 1996.
Francis was candid about her personal struggles, including four failed marriages. Reflecting on her difficult personal chapters, she once said, 'I attributed four bad marriages to him [her father] because I never grew up like a normal teenager … he couldn't stand the idea of any men taking his place in my heart."
Connie Francis may have left the stage, but the impact she left on the world of music will never be forgotten.

With every new season of Bigg Boss, there are a few things you can count on like drama, unexpected evictions, and rumours about Anusha Dandekar joining the show. Every year, her name comes up as a potential contestant and Season 19 is no exception. But once again, Anusha is setting the record straight. 'Honestly, I have no idea why my name keeps coming up!" she tells News18 Showsha exclusively, when asked why speculation around her participation refuses to die down. 'I've made it very clear that I'm never going into that house. I should be getting paid by them for all the free promo I've been giving without ever stepping in!" So, have the makers ever actually reached out? 'Never. Not even a call. I think they know I'll slip out midway!" she laughs again. 'But really, if they're going to keep using my name for attention, I deserve a cheque at this point." That sounds like a hard no from Anusha, and she confirms it: 'Yup. It's just a personal choice. I think people who do that show are incredibly brave. But, me? Not interested. It's not my thing." What about other reality shows — something like Khatron Ke Khiladi, perhaps? 'They've asked, yeah. But again, not something I want to do. I love what I do already, and I just want to keep doing that." Aniruddhacharya, who enjoys a massive following for his tongue-in-cheek spiritual discourses, particularly on the Bhagwata Puraan and is known by the nickname Pookie Baba, is facing backlash over his misogynistic remarks. Khushboo Patani, also a fitness coach and influencer, in the video criticised the spiritual leader for his controversial comments, calling him an "anti-national". पूर्व मेजर और दिशा पटानी की बहन खुशबू पटानी ने जमकर पेLA पाखंडी अनिरुद्धचार्य को इस पाखंडी का संपूर्ण समाज से बहिष्कार होना चाहिए यह महिला विरोधी नीचे पुरुष है मानसिक रोगी — Anshika Singh Yadav (@Anshika_in) July 29, 2025 In the clip, she is heard saying, "' Muh maar ke aati hain?' Had he been in front of me I would have explained to him what 'muh maarna' means. I would have made him understand clearly. These are bloody anti-nationals... You should never be supporting such bast**** of highest order... "Why didn't he say that men in live-in relationships also do the same... muh maarke aate hain. Is a woman alone in a live-in relationship? And, what's wrong about live-in? What's wrong about making a sensible decision of living-in before getting married and not ruining each other's families?" It could not be immediately confirmed whether Khushboo Patani took down this video from social media or whether it was an old Instagram Story. She hasn't been active on X since May 16. Nevertheless, her video continues to be shared by other social media users on the Internet. In her last post on Instagram, she gave tips to her followers to conduct the life-saving technique CPR properly.
