'During cabin preparations for landing, a member of our cabin crew noticed a passenger standing in the aisle, engaged in a verbal altercation with another passenger. The second passenger reported to the crew that the individual was being abusive,' the airline said in a statement.
It said that the cabin crew acted promptly, de-escalating the situation by relocating the second passenger to a business class seat for the remainder of the flight.
'Following a complaint by the second passenger, the pilot-in-command notified our security team on the ground about the situation, who were present upon the flight's arrival in Delhi. The disruptive passenger was handed over to the airport security for further investigation,' the spokesperson added.
Reaffirming its stance on safety, the airline said, 'Air India maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards disruptive behaviour and prioritizes the safety and well-being of all passengers and crew. We will fully cooperate with the relevant authorities, and the matter is now under their purview.' DGCA rules mandate internal probe, no-fly list for unruly passengers
Rules laid down by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) are in place to address disruptive and unruly behaviour by passengers on board. These include the requirement for the airline to form an internal committee to decide on appropriate action, which may include placing the passenger on a no-fly list.
Air India has faced several high-profile incidents of unruly passenger behaviour over the past two years, prompting regulatory scrutiny and internal disciplinary action. These cases, ranging from verbal abuse to physical assault and public indecency.
On November 26, 2022, a shocking incident aboard a New York–Delhi flight made national headlines when an inebriated male passenger allegedly urinated on a female co-passenger in the business class section.
The airline was criticised for failing to report the matter promptly to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), leading to a ₹ 30 lakh fine.

Man Befriends Rajasthan Woman, Promises Luxury In Oman, Cops Foil Trafficking Bid

A 35-year-old man living in Muscat, Oman, met an 18-year-old woman from Rajasthan's Churu online. Soon, he befriended her and 'promised' the woman a luxurious life in Oman, but little did she know that the man allegedly plotted to sell her off in the Gulf country. But the cops rescued the woman 30 minutes before she was ready to fly to Oman. The man, Mohammad Islam, convinced the woman to come to Oman. He helped her obtain a passport and booked her a seat on an Air India flight from Delhi to Muscat. The woman, who was in love with the man, even took Rs 1 lakh cash and jewellery before leaving for Delhi to catch the flight. Superintendent of Police Jai Yadav said the woman is a resident of the Taranagar area in Churu and is a final-year college student. The officer said, "The woman left her house at 8:30 am on Saturday without informing anyone. Her family members were looking for her. They (cops) were informed at 5 pm. When the police started investigating, they found that she was at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi. In such a situation, the police sought cooperation from the embassy and the Delhi Police to rescue her. She was ready to board the plane." "With the help of immigration, the embassy and the Delhi Police, she was found," he added. The District Superintendent of Police said that after receiving the information, the Churu police did not have time to reach Delhi. If the operation had been delayed by half an hour, she would have left for the Gulf. Police officer, Gaurav Khidiya, said that the accused, Mohammad Islam, is a resident of Mulat, Taranagar. He is married and lives in Oman. He has been there for 10 years, and his wife left him. Islam befriended the woman on social media eight months ago. The police are now preparing to bring the accused from Oman.

Air India Crash: From Fuel Tampering To Security Breach, 7 Sabotage Angles Being Probed, Say Sources

Last Updated: According to top intelligence sources, the rare occurrence of a dual engine failure in the Air India Dreamliner has triggered this comprehensive investigation to eliminate doubts. Indian security agencies are leaving no stone unturned in investigating potential sabotage in the Air India AI 171 crash in Ahmedabad, top intelligence sources have told CNN-News18. The agencies are employing a strategy of prevention through elimination to rule out every possible sabotage scenario, thereby safeguarding aviation infrastructure and deterring future threats. According to top intelligence sources, the thorough investigations will only commence once the black box recordings are decoded by the appointed investigator. CNN-News18 has outlined the various angles being considered by intelligence agencies as they probe the sabotage possibilities. According to top intelligence sources, the rare occurrence of a dual engine failure in the Air India Dreamliner has triggered this comprehensive investigation to eliminate any doubts. 1. Fuel Chain Tampering Among the primary lines of inquiry, sources reveal, is the possibility of fuel chain tampering. The integrity of fuel sourcing, storage, and hydrant systems are under forensic review for any signs of chemical adulteration or deliberate contamination. Ground staff and supplier contracts at Ahmedabad airport are being meticulously scrutinised for any potential infiltration. 2. Maintenance Sabotage & Insider Angle 3. Cyber-Physical Manipulation Another critical angle, according to top intelligence sources, is the potential for cyber-physical manipulation. The Boeing 787 is vulnerable to malware or software interference. Forensic cyber audits are being conducted on engine control units, flight management systems, and ground maintenance terminals to detect any implanted code or command spoofing. 4. Insider Access & Airport Security Breach Security agencies are also investigating any unauthorized access or compromised personnel at the airport. Access logs, biometric trails, and CCTV footage, especially from the pre-flight period, are under review. Any deviations in crew or logistics handling timelines are being closely examined. 5. Targeted Passenger Or Cargo Driven Motive Intelligence sources suggest that the investigation is also looking into targeted passenger or cargo-driven motives. Manifests are being cross-checked for individuals with political, intelligence, or legal sensitivities to determine if the aircraft was a targeted symbolic or strategic goal. 6. External Hand Or Proxy-Actor Involvement Given the aircraft's Indian carrier status, Dreamliner platform, and the mix of Indian and British passengers, agencies are probing the involvement of foreign hostile entities or non-state proxies, considering this incident as a possible demonstration or retaliation stage. 7. Airfield And ATC Interference Finally, agencies are analysing the possibility of airfield and ATC interference. This includes electronic warfare tactics such as GPS spoofing, signal jamming, or compromised ATC instructions. Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol had on Sunday stated that sabotage is one of the key angles being examined in the crash, which claimed 274 lives in Ahmedabad. The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) is leading a comprehensive investigation into the crash of flight AI 171, considering all potential causes. The tragic crash occurred on June 12, when the London-bound Boeing Dreamliner 787-8 (flight AI 171) plummeted into a residential area shortly after taking off from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport. The aircraft, carrying 242 people, lost altitude around 1:30 PM and crashed into the BJ Medical College residential quarters in Meghaninagar, resulting in a devastating fire. Only one person survived the crash, while nine individuals on the ground also perished. tags : Ahmedabad Plane Crash Location : New Delhi, India, India First Published: June 30, 2025, 09:54 IST News india Air India Crash: From Fuel Tampering To Security Breach, 7 Sabotage Angles Being Probed, Say Sources

Air India plane crash probe looking at all angles: MoS Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol

An Indian Aviation Minister on Sunday (June 29, 2025) said investigators were probing 'all angles' behind the Air India plane crash in Gujarat's Ahmedabad when asked by media about possible sabotage. All but one of the 242 people on board the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner were killed when it crashed in Ahmedabad on June 12. Authorities have identified 19 others who died on the ground, but a police source told AFP after the crash that the toll was 38. India's Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Murlidhar Mohol, said the investigation was looking at "all angles" when asked specifically about possible "sabotage", in an interview with Indian news channel NDTV. "It has never happened before that both engines have shut off together," Mr. Mohol said earlier in the interview, in reference to theories by some experts of possible dual-engine failure. The Minister added that until the investigation report is published, it would be premature to comment on the cause. The team appointed to investigate the crash started extracting data from the plane's cockpit voice and flight data recorders this week, in an attempt to reconstruct the sequence of events leading to the disaster. Air India has said that the plane was "well-maintained" and that the pilots were accomplished flyers.
