I wasn't going to spend thousands on a wedding dress so got an Oh Polly one for £75 - no one would know it wasn't pricey
Reviewing the five-star dress, one fashion fan said: ''Been looking for this shape and style of dress at a high street level for a while.
''Bought the 10 (am usually a 10-12, am 5ft 6 for reference) and this is a good fit and length for me. It's a bit roomy over the bust but I am on the smaller side on top.
''For a little more money I would have loved the inclusion of pockets (it has none). More colours please.
How to dress in a heatwave
SUMMER is finally here with temperatures soaring this weekend, but it has been so long since we dressed for the warmer weather - what should we wear? The Sun's fashion team is here to help with a cut-out-and-keep guide to heatwave attire.
Clemmie Fieldsend and Abby McHale reveal the ultimate dos and don'ts so that you never suffer from unsightly tan lines, sweaty patches or wardrobe malfunctions again.
Cover up
While you might be tempted to put on your skimpiest outfit when the mercury rises above 25C, it has actually been proven that staying covered up can keep you cooler.
We're not saying wear your winter coat and wrap up. You should wear a light breathable fabric such as cotton - look for flowy midi skirts, dresses or wide leg trousers which will billow and create a nice cool breeze for you as you walk.
Prepare for extremes
With our unpredictable weather, it's not uncommon to see either someone in hotpants with goose-pimpled legs after an unexpected downpour, or at the other end of the spectrum, someone still wearing their winter tights in 30C heat. When you're on the fence, opt for a loose co-ord that will keep you cool but not expose you to the elements if it rains.
Wear shorts
Yes, you can wear shorts - and at any age. The key is getting the length just right and longer shorts are all the rage this year. Short shorts are of course allowed but they won't make you any cooler. If anything, micro-shorts can make you feel hotter. Plus, they are wedgie inducing, often too tight and often show off rather too much bum cheek.
Wear white
White is not the easiest to keep clean but it is the best shade for a heatwave, and looks effortlessly chic. It doesn't absorb light like black but instead, reflects it. It's also a shade that never goes out of style. If you do get the odd suncream smear on your whites, quickly dab with hand soap and water, rub in with a brush and then wash as normal.
Don't show bra straps
Whilst everyone wants to wear strappy clothing in the summer, there really is nothing classy about your bra straps being on show - especially when they're the opposite colour to your top. Instead, if you are plumping for a strappy top, stick a strapless bra underneath.
Don't attempt a boob tube
The boob tube has got to be one of the most faffy and unflattering pieces of clothing you can own. Yes, you will avoid shoulder strap tan lines, but you will spend the whole day pulling your top up and trying to keep your boobs in place. Come evening, you will have grubby fingerprints all over and will have no doubt experienced the odd nip slip.
Don't choose espadrilles
Espadrille wedges were once Kate Middleton's go-to summer shoe but they have well and truly fallen off the fashion wagon. While noughties ballet flats are back, the espadrille is yet to have its revival. It's one of those fashion items that Gen Z won't be seen dead in, and have even dubbed 'the granny sandal'. For now, opt for a ballet flat or a sandal.
Don't wear crochet
The crochet trend is nice enough and while it looks great on the likes of Love Island presenter Maya Jama, it's simply not practical. If the sun is out, chances are, you'll end up with tragic tan lines like a mosaic. Plus, it's essentially knitwear - hot and itchy. For men, knitted polos have also crept into the fashion fold, masquerading as summer wear but they are made from synthetic materials and induce swear. Wear at your own risk.
''Light weight beige requires skin colour underwear - but as it is floaty you can't see everything underneath which is good.''
Another fan of the supermarket said: ''Perfect fit! As it was a flowy dress I sized down and I'm so glad I did- beautiful dress looks so chic and expensive I have worn my with a little waist belt and looks fab!''
Someone else was just as thrilled with their purchase and described the affordable dress as ''absolutely gorgeous''.
''I'm normally a 10-12, but bought a 10. Fits lovely and looks / feels more expensive than it is!''
Meanwhile, a fourth commented: ''I put this in my basket 3 times, went to checkout and it was removed due to being out of stock(lots of demand) finally got my hands on it and wow!
''Love it, perfect for round bellies like myself but still wanting to look and feel super comfy, this is the one for you!''

'I'll never go to a fairground again after little girl's horror injuries'

Speaking out in a new Netflix docu-series, Marcia looked back on the fairground ride malfunction that left her 11-year-old niece and father, 57, with serious injuries. Disaster struck last year when Marcia's niece and father were rushed to hospital after a malfunction on a fairground ride - now, she talks about her experience in a gripping Netflix docu-series. When a family outing turns to horror, every second counts. Critical: Between Life and Death lifts the curtain on London's Major Trauma System in six powerful episodes. ‌ With unprecedented access to paramedics, A&E teams and trauma surgeons, the cameras capture everything. 'A nice lady came into the waiting room and told me about the cameras,' says Marcia. 'They were there before we were.' ‌ Marcia's niece Silvana was 11 years old when she went to the Lambeth Country Show with her grandfather Sebastiano. He'd even taken the day off from the family's ice cream van. But joy turned to disaster when a malfunction on a fairground ride sent debris and people flying, leaving four casualties in hospital with serious injuries. ‌ Sebastiano threw himself between Silvana and a speaker. It smashed into his face while Silvana was left with several serious injuries. In the hospital, Marcia acted as an anchor for the rest of her family. 'I'm the rational person,' she says, 'But there were moments that made me fearful. My brother said, 'do you want a coffee?' But I was so wired. I thought, 'If my dad dies, I'm going to be the man of the house.'' For Marcia, the moment she was handed her father's blood-stained belongings remains etched in her memory. 'I was given a bag with my dad's things, like his ring,' Marcia says, 'It was covered in blood.' Marcia also had to deal with police, doctors and even solicitors. 'Everyone was calling me,' she remembers. 'I've been writing government letters since I was 9 because my parents don't really speak English.' The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) launched an investigation soon after the incident. Now, Marcia hopes the series sparks serious conversations. 'There are many things that shouldn't be happening and everyone turns a blind eye. Until it's them,' she says. 'It's not the first time something like this happened. This story isn't original.' Since the incident, the family business is left in limbo. 'We worked with the Fun Fair,' Marcia adds, 'In a way, we're out of work but we go to different locations.' And her family have made a huge decision: 'My brother said, 'I'm never taking the kids to a fun fair ride again.' More than a gripping documentary revealing the NHS ' tireless efforts to keep Brits safe and healthy, Critical: Between Life and Death is a raw and vital reminder of just how fragile life can be. A wake-up call that tragedy can strike anywhere - even on the most ordinary day.

American visits UK seaside town for fish and chips but Brits spot 'problem'

An American visiting the UK decided to sample some good old fashioned fish and chips, but Brits spotted a "problem" when he tucked into the food at a popular seaside resort When you visit a different country, it's natural to explore and sample some of the traditional delicacies on offer and, here in the UK, one of the most beloved meals is fish and chips. Perhaps that's why an American ventured to a popular seaside resort in Lancashire to sample the goods - after all, you can't beat a chippy tea right by the sea. A man, known as Kalani Ghost Hunter on TikTok, recently headed to Blackpool to sample one of his "favourite" British meals, and his video has since gone viral. He headed to Bentley's Fish and Chips to carry out a taste test, as he said it was recommended by some of the locals, and he was keen to tuck in and see what was on offer. ‌ He admitted that, when he has fish and chips, he has to have Dandelion and Burdock, as he said it's "needed" to pair with the meal. Showing off the dish, he explained: "So, we've got our fish here, take a look at that - that is the large portion of fish and chips. ‌ "Vinegar, salt - you guys know the combo. Now let's dive in. I've been waiting for this meal for so many days. Mmm, so they're frying in vegetable oil, and you guys know I'm a beef dripping lover but, what I will say is, there's a very nice crunch on this. "That's a good batter flavour. Let's try out a chip - I will say they have nice, chunky chips. That's a solid piece of fish and chips. You guys know we love the curry sauce. "I also love taking a chip through some mushy peas. I also love me some cheesy chips. Now they have melted the cheese on top here - let's get us a nice bite. I love some cheesy chips." ‌ Overall, he said the fish and chips were fried "nicely", and he deemed the meal a "solid option", awarding it an 8.6/10. According to the reviewer, the meal was "very good", and he really enjoyed it. However, in the comments, people were quick to chime in with all sorts of ideas. Some people spotted a "problem", as they thought he was missing one key item on top of his chips. ‌ One person wrote: "Cheese, chips and gravy." Another added: "Have you tried cheesy chips and gravy?" A third added: "Need to chuck some gravy on the chips and cheese." Meanwhile, a fourth also commented: "You need to add gravy to your cheesy chips." Some people also thought Blackpool "wasn't the best place" to sample fish and chips, but others said there were a few spots that serve up tasty offerings. One person thought the eatery he went to was lovely though, adding: "Good chippy that." Another also chimed in with: "Ignore the people in the comments hating on Blackpool. Yes, of course it's not the gastronomic capital of England, but it's fun and a great time, if you're not pretentious." Blackpool is a seaside town in Lancashire, England. It's situated on the Irish Sea coast of the Fylde peninsula, around 27 miles (43 km) north of Liverpool and 14 miles (23 km) west of Preston. It's the main settlement in the borough, which carries the same name. The town also homes the Blackpool Tower Ballroom, which is world-famous for its unique sprung dance floor and amazing architecture.

Summer's hottest facial SPF suncreams and products, ranked

Whether you're heading on a city break, beach holiday, or just navigating day-to-day life, sun protection is a non-negotiable, and the right products make it easier to protect and glow with skincare that works with your routine, not against it. Research from Olay shows that one in 10 Brits admit to never wearing SPF on their face, so we tried and tested some of summer's hottest new products for face and lips, to see which ones would make it into our holiday make-up bag. Here's our verdict. Mavala Switzerland Tinted lip balm (cherry) Price £7.99, from John Lewis I'm a sucker for a tinted lip balm and Mavala's cherry tint is the perfect combination of colour and SPF protection. As someone who has suffered with dry lips for several years, I was at first sceptical on how well this lip balm would match up to my trusty Vaseline. However, I was pleasantly surprised how effortlessly it glides on, leaving my lips hydrated, soft and not mega greasy. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Mavala UK (@mavalauk) The SPF15 protection is a welcome bonus too, as the balm is infused with shea butter and aloe vera, along with apricot extract, provitamin A and vitamin E. The subtle tint of cherry red was the perfect colour for lips and was reminiscent of Maybelline's popular Baby Lips formula from around a decade ago. Mavala's cherry lip balm will be a staple in my beauty bag for the summer months and beyond. Score – 5/5 Review by Clare Butler Ocean Freedom Mineral Sunscreen and Ocean Clay Price: £8 and £13, from Bling20 Surf Clay (Image: Surf Clay) This brilliant pairing of a mineral sunscreen SPF50+ lotion sunscreen and its sister Surf Clay SPF50+ are great for active days out or trips with kids. The clay stays on through hot days and plenty of water (we tried it out on a family holiday, in and out of the pool, and it didn't budge). The kids loved that they were fragrance-free (no weird smell!), and best of all they come in an array of fun colours including pink, blue and white, as well as light tan and a clear format - as we discovered they can even be mixed together to create gorgeous new shades of lilac. I liked it because as a mineral sunscreen, it sits on the skin's surface and is less pore-clogging, making it more suitable for sensitive or acne-prone skin. Rating: 5/5 Reviewed by Jade Wright Dermalogica biolumin-c heat aging protector spf50 travel size Price: £24 Bottle size: 15ml, from Amazon This moisturiser with SPF comes in a nice 15ml bottle, ideal for travel whether you're cramming everything into a weekend bag or worried about your suitcase weight. I found this to be quite a thick formula but it soaked into my skin well and very quickly with little effort. Dermalogica (Image: Newsquest) The smell is quite summery and I think SPF50 is high for what I've seen in other products so that's a bonus. The only downside to this moisturiser is that I had to use a bit more than I would of my usual product so that's something to bear in mind. Review: Katie Collier Score: 4/5 Elemental Herbology SPF 50 Moisturiser (Image: Newsquest) Price - £45, from Elemental It's a cliché for a reason but sometimes you really do get what you pay for. As a recent skincare convert, I'm increasingly critical of the products I buy. I want them to do more for less ( like us all!). I love that Element Herbology have given us an effective SPF as well as a moisturiser packed with Provitamin B5 and Vitamin E. It feels very light on the skin, rubs in very quickly and doesn't leave any white residue. With long term wear, I have actually found myself using less face make up. I was content with how hydrated and glowing my skin's felt on it's own. I can't fault the formula itself but the price tag is steep when you only get 50ml. After a recommend 2-3 pumps to cover my face, neck and hands in the morning as well as a top ups throughout the day, I would have to remortgage a house I don't have to keep up with my obsession. Review: Rebecca Carey Score – 4/5 Kalme Day Defence SPF 40 Rebecca Carey (Image: Newsquest) Price - £26.65, from Amazon I would argue that Kalme's Day Defence is a slightly more budget friendly alternative for daily use. It's by no means cheap but it is a lightweight moisturiser that rubs in well and avoids that dreaded greasy feeling. It's not quite as luxurious to apply as the Elemental Herbology but it's equally long lasting and is in a convenient travel size so you can top on the go. There is a slight but subtle smell to the formula. It isn't unpleasant or off putting but there's something a little chemical too it that means it doesn't feel or go unnoticed. However, if you have sensitive skin, I think you could absolutely get behind this brand. It has a patented anti-redness extract that has been proven to reduce redness by up to 70% in clinical trials. Overall, it's very good value for money with its 24 hour moisture formula, I can see myself adding it to my cart again. Review by Rebecca Carey Score - 3.5/5 Recommended reading:
