Jindal Steel Chhattisgarh Ltd signs MoU with state government for projects worth Rs 105358 crore
Aimed at driving economic growth, generating employment, and fostering sustainable industrial development, the agreements were signed for the projects including a 500 MW solar power plant, a 2400 MW thermal power plant, and a steel plant with a capacity of 7.5 million tonnes per annum (MTPA).
A proposed investment of Rs 1,05,358 crore will be allocated for the projects in Raigarh, the company stated.
Jindal Steel Chhattisgarh Ltd will set up a 7.5 MTPA integrated steel plant with an investment of Rs 73,000 crore. Jindal Power Ltd will set up a 3x800 MW thermal power plant with an investment of Rs 30,780 crore and a 500 MW solar power plant with an investment of Rs 1,578 crore.

Bhopal: In a breakthrough in the ongoing investigation into GST evasion and fake invoicing racket, the MP State Economic Offences Wing (EOW) has arrested two more suspects — Sheikh Zafar of Anuppur and Raja Sheikh of Bhopal. These arrests bring the total number of suspects held in the case to three, including the alleged mastermind Vinod Sahay alias N K Khare, who was arrested earlier. The case (EOW Case No 102/25) involves fraudulent invoicing worth Rs 512 crore and fake Input Tax Credit (ITC) claims of Rs 134 crore, orchestrated through a network of shell companies and falsified transactions. The fraud has caused massive revenue losses to the government over the past few years. According to EOW officials, Sheikh Zafar operated two fictitious firms—Amber Coal Depot and Anam Traders—at the direction of the main suspect, Vinod Sahay. These firms, though non-operational, were used to generate fake transactions with other shell entities like Maa Reva Traders, Namami Traders, and Abhijeet Traders, also linked to Sahay. The second suspect, Raja Sheikh, proprietor of Mehak Enterprises, was arrested from Bhopal on July 1, 2025, and remanded to judicial custody a day later. Investigations revealed that Raja showed fictitious cement transactions worth Rs 6 crore with fake firms controlled by Sahay—Abhijeet Traders, Namami Traders, and Ankita Steel & Coals—to fraudulently claim Rs 1.20 crore in ITC. Seals of other suspicious firms and incriminating documents were seized during the search of his premises.

Lilavati Trust FIR: SC grants urgent hearing to HDFC Bank chief
New Delhi: The on Thursday agreed to grant an urgent hearing on CEO and managing director Sashidhar Jagdishan's plea challenging an FIR lodged against him on a complaint by the Lilavati Kirtilal Mehta Medical Trust, and listed the case for July 4. The FIR was lodged in Bandra Police Station and as per the complaint filed by the Trust, Jagdishan allegedly accepted a bribe of Rs 2.05 crore in exchange for providing financial advice to help the Chetan Mehta Group retain illegal and undue control over the Trust's governance. The Trust claimed that Jagdishan and his family received free medical treatment from Lilavati Hospital. The matter was mentioned before the HC on June 30, when Jagdishan's counsel pressed for interim relief. However, noting that there is no urgency in the matter, the HC listed the matter for July 14. Jaipur: The govt imposed a two-month ban on sand mining in rivers in the state, effective until the end of Aug. As in previous years, this seasonal restriction was implemented during the monsoon to protect riverbeds and aquatic ecosystems from erosion and long-term environmental damage caused by mining during heavy rains. During monsoon, rivers swell and become particularly vulnerable to disruption. Experts warn that mining during this period could lead to severe flooding, riverbank collapse, and permanent ecological degradation. As a result of the ban, sand prices are expected to surge. Traders said the situation is exacerbated by the fact that many leases in Tonk and Sawai Madhopur expired and remain unrenewed. "There is only one leaseholder with stocked sand. With demand rising and limited supply, prices will inevitably go up," said a sand trader in Jaipur. Currently, river sand costs Rs 1,400–1,500 per tonne. In the coming months, it is expected to rise by Rs 350–Rs 400 per tonne. Experts raised concerns about illegal mining during the ban period.
