NFL quarterback has to be held back by security after getting into ugly fight while coaching youth football game
Las Vegas Raiders starting quarterback Geno Smith had to be held back by security during an ugly fight while coaching a youth football game this weekend in Florida.
Smith, who is coaching the South Florida Express, a national-championship 7-on-7 football team, in his time away from the NFL, got heated on the sidelines during Saturday night's game.
The game, which aired live on NFL Network due to having several blue-chip recruits playing, took place at a local high school against Raw Miami.
The Express won the game 38-21 but the lasting image was Smith's sideline confrontation.
Smith was shouting at someone off camera, with security not letting the Raiders starter get physical.
'That's why they pay me the big bucks, that's why I get paid the big bucks,' Smith shouted. 'That's why they bring the big bucks to me, that's why they pay me the big bucks. That's why they pay me the big bucks!
Smith signed a 2-year, $75million contract with the Raiders. It's safe to say that counts as big bucks.
Geno Smith was not the only gridiron star to be at the 7-on-7 clash, with Ohio State phenom Jeremiah Smith also at the game.
Jeremiah played for the South Florida Express before becoming arguably the best player in college football.
Geno is now the starter for the Raiders, who was courted to Las Vegas by Tom Brady and Pete Carroll.
He'll have massive expectations on him competing in the AFC West, a division with fellow starting quarterbacks Patrick Mahomes and Justin Herbert.
It's clear Smith is as confident as ever, with training camp starting next month.

Nationals score three in 11th to complete comeback vs. Angels
June 29 - Drew Millas' tiebreaking RBI double in the 11th inning helped the Washington Nationals secure a 7-4 comeback victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday in Anaheim, Calif. With automatic runner Brady House starting on second base, Millas followed Daylen Lile's single with a double to left to make it 5-4. One out later, CJ Abrams (two hits, three RBIs) drilled a two-run triple to right off losing pitcher Connor Brogdon (1-1). In his third inning of work, Kyle Finnegan (1-2) picked up the win with a scoreless bottom of the 11th for Washington, which won the three-game set and finished 4-5 on its West Coast road trip. Down 4-3 in the ninth against Angels closer Kenley Jansen, the Nationals pulled even on Jacob Young's RBI single. Lile (three hits, two runs) led off with a double to right, advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by Millas and scored on Young's single to left. The blown save was Jansen's first of the season. The Angels broke a 3-3 tie in the seventh when Luis Rengifo hit a one-out triple to right field and scored on Jose Ferrer's wild pitch with Taylor Ward (three hits) at the plate. Los Angeles grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first as Nolan Schanuel drew a one-out walk and scored on Ward's RBI single off Nationals starter Mitchell Parker. Washington pulled even in the fourth on House's two-out double to right field off starter Jack Kochanowicz, scoring Nathaniel Lowe, who had walked. The Nationals took a 2-1 lead in the fifth on Luis Garcia Jr.'s fielder's choice grounder that scored Millas. Young was thrown out at home by Schanuel on the play to end the inning. An inning later, the Angels regained the lead as Jo Adell (two hits) delivered an RBI single to plate Ward after his leadoff double, then scored on Christian Moore's two-out RBI single to make it 3-2. Washington again bounced back to tie the game in the seventh. Young walked with two outs and scored on Abrams' RBI double off Ryan Zeferjahn. Kochanowicz gave up two runs on five hits over four innings, walking two and striking out two. Parker allowed three runs on six hits with three walks and three strikeouts in five innings. --Field Level Media

Reports: Bucks F Bobby Portis agrees to 3-year, $44M contract
June 29 - Milwaukee Bucks forward Bobby Portis has declined his player option and will sign a three-year, $44 million contract to stay with the team, multiple media outlets reported on Sunday. Portis, 30, had until Sunday to decide on the player option worth $13.4 million. The new deal includes a player option in the final season of 2027-28, the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reported. Portis averaged 13.9 points, 8.4 rebounds and 2.1 assists in only 49 games (seven starts) last season, when the NBA suspended him 25 games without pay for violating the league's anti-drug policy. The NBA said Portis tested positive for the drug Tramadol, a medication used to treat severe pain among adults. Portis' agent, Mark Bartelstein of Priority Sports, told ESPN that his client confused Tramadol with an approved pain medication called Toradol. Portis has averaged 13.6 points, 8.3 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 339 regular-season games (99 starts) over five seasons in Milwaukee, where he has been a valued reserve voted third for the NBA Sixth Man of the Year Award in both 2023 and 2024. He also was a member of the Bucks' league championship squad in 2021. For his career, Portis is averaging 12.0 points, 7.2 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 654 regular-season games (153 starts) for the Chicago Bulls (2015-19), Washington Wizards (2019), New York Knicks (2019-20) and Bucks (2020-present). --Field Level Media

The 11-time All-Star guard will return to the Clippers after spending the past two seasons there. The second year of the new pact reportedly has a player option and partial guarantees. Harden, who turns 36 before next season begins, played 79 games (all starts) for Los Angeles in 2024-25 and averaged 22.8 points, 8.7 assists and 5.7 rebounds, though his 3-point shooting ticked down from 38.1 percent the year before to 35.2 percent. He was named to the All-NBA third team, his first All-NBA honor since 2019-20. Harden also put up 18.7 points, 9.1 assists and 5.4 rebounds per game during the Clippers' seven-game playoff loss to the Denver Nuggets in the first round.
