Italy make five changes for second test against Springboks
The inexperienced Italy side lost the first test in Pretoria 42-24, but put in an excellent second half showing against the world champions having trailed 28-3 at the break and were in contention going into the final 10 minutes.
Belloni forms a back three with wings Jacopo Trulla and Louis Lynagh, while Marco Zanon and Tommaso Menoncello are the centre-pairing. Giacomo Da Re keeps his place at flyhalf, alongside number 9 Alessandro Garbisi.
Hooker Tommaso Di Bartolomeo packs down in the front row with props Danilo Fischetti and Simone Ferrari either side of him, while captain Niccolo Cannone and Andrea Zambonin are the lock pairing.
South African born Ross Vintcent moves from the flank to the number eight jersey in the place of Cannone, with Sebastian Negri and Manuel Zuliani the other two loose-forwards.
Zimbabwe-born Negri spent much of his childhood in South Africa too and missed the first test due to injury.
His return is a boost to the engine room and adds experience as the second most capped player (64 appearances) in the team behind Ferrari (65).

Bumrah not ruled out of fifth test, says India captain Gill
LONDON :India captain Shubman Gill has refused to rule pace bowler Jasprit Bumrah out of contention for the fifth test against England starting at the Oval on Thursday. Bumrah, who is the joint-leading wicket taker in the series with 14, was expected to miss the decisive clash as India's medical staff want to manage his workload. But Gill said any decision would be left late. "We will take a decision (on Bumrah) tomorrow; the wicket looks very green. So we will see how it turns out," Gill told a press conference at the Oval on Wednesday. Bumrah was scheduled to play only three of the five tests and has already featured in the opener at Headingley and the back-to-back tests at Lord's and Old Trafford. India need to win the final test to level the series 2-2. "2-2 will be very significant for this team," Gill said. "Every match we have played, it was difficult to decide the winner after the first four days." Should Bumrah miss out, India would likely select Akash Deep or even hand a debut to Arshdeep Singh. "He has been asked to get ready but we will take a call on the playing eleven after looking at the pitch by this evening," Gill said. "England haven't gone with a frontline spinner. "We have Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar, who have done such a good job with the ball and the bat. On that front, it's a no-brainer for us." India are without wicket keeper Rishabh Pant, ruled out by a foot injury in the fourth test which ended in a draw on Sunday. Dhruv Jurel is set to stand in. The build-up to the series finale has been overshadowed by a spat on Tuesday between India head coach Gautam Gambhir and the ground staff at the Oval after Gambhir tried to take a close look at the square. Gill said the incident was "absolutely unnecessary". "It's not the first time that we were having a look at the wicket, we have been there for almost two months," he said. "A coach has every right to be able to go close quarters and have a look at the wicket and I didn't think there was anything wrong with that. I actually don't know why the curator would not allow us to go have a look at the wicket.

Injured Stokes ruled out of final test v India, Archer rested
LONDON :England captain Ben Stokes will miss the fifth and final test against India at the Oval with a shoulder injury, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) said on the eve of the match beginning on Thursday. Stokes was player of the match in the drawn fourth test in Manchester where the all-rounder smashed 141 and claimed six wickets with the ball. "Captain Ben Stokes is unavailable due to a right shoulder injury," the ECB said in a statement on Wednesday. In his absence, Ollie Pope will lead England, who are 2-1 ahead in the enthralling five-test series. England also rested Archer, who played back-to-back tests at Lord's and Old Trafford in what is the injury-prone pacer's first test series in four years. Pacer Brydon Carse and spinner Liam Dawson were dropped as England included the pace trio of Gus Atkinson, Jamie Overton and Josh Tongue. Jacob Bethell was recalled to replace Stokes at number six in the batting order.

Itoje's Lions dreaming of peak performance in third Wallabies test
SYDNEY :British & Irish Lions captain Maro Itoje says the tourists have not yet played their best rugby in Australia and are looking to this weekend's dead-rubber third test to produce a landmark performance and sweep the series. The Lions locked up series honours with a dramatic victory over the Wallabies in Melbourne last weekend but Itoje said there was no shortage of motivation heading into Saturday's clash at Stadium Australia. "I guess we want to be part of something very special," the lock forward told reporters on Tuesday. "Winning a test series, obviously, is extremely special, but what would be an absolute dream would be to go out there and perform to the level we think we can perform to and win the third game "Whilst the first two games have been great because we've got two wins, there's still a feeling that we probably haven't put it together in the way we know that we can. "And I think that's the exciting thing for us. We want to chase down that, that performance that we've been searching for." The Lions got back to training in Sydney on Tuesday after celebrating the series-sealing triumph at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Itoje, who was part of the Lions squad that drew the 2017 test series in New Zealand and lost narrowly in South Africa in 2021, said the achievement was "right up there" in his career highlights. "You want to be a part of being a Lion, that in of itself is a humongous achievement, but you want to be a part of a series-winning side, "Speaking to some of the guys from 2013, speaking to some of the golden oldies from '97, they look back and have such fond memories. "You want to be a winning Lion. You want to be part of that esteemed group." No Lions squad since the 1974 tour of South Africa has managed to go unbeaten through a test series, while the Wallabies have not been swept by the tourists since 1904. "This is a huge game," said Itoje. "The Wallabies ... have shown the quality side they are and I know they're going to be hungry. They're going to be up for it. "But we also want to make some history this weekend. If we can get another win, that would be amazing."
