Love Island's Ekin-Su shares new life outlook after split and 'losing' herself

Love Island favourite Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu says she looks at the world differently now after a 'humbling' experience meeting women affected by cancer. The reality star joined actress Giovanna Fletcher and more than 100 women on the five-day trip to the Isle of Skye for the CoppaFeel! Trek this week, battling minus six temperatures, strong winds and torrential downpours.
'I didn't realise it was gonna be so hard,' admits two-time Love Islander Ekin. 'When you get to know all the women and their backgrounds and how they're still here and giving everything to life, the things that people complain about back home don't matter. There's people who have got cancer. Every day they have to live with it, and every day feels like it could be their last day. It's been a massive eye opener for me.'

Raising awareness of breast cancer, they also helped raise £418,888, almost hitting their £450,000 target. Ekin, 30, says hearing the stories of cancer has made her want to get her breasts checked for the first time.
'Some told me, 'I might have a few years' - that's what I'm taking out of this trip, that nothing is more precious than life," she told. "I definitely want to get my breasts checked for sure. I've never even felt my breasts and all I'm thinking about is that. And I want to find the nearest GP when I'm home and get my breasts checked for peace of mind. I want to tell my mum, friends, people younger than me. Catching it early is key.'
Ekin detailed a powerful moment where all the ladies stood topless on the top of a mountain. 'We had a picture, all the ladies together, tops off,' she recalled. 'Everyone showing their breasts. They're the reason why we're here. It just felt so natural. I embraced everything with the ladies and I felt connected when we had our tops off. We most beautiful scenery as well in the background on a mountain. Luckily no one saw us, there were no men walking past!'
Waking at 6am and trekking almost 10 hours a day, Ekin was totally out of her comfort zone, having never camped before. 'My friends were shocked,' she chuckled. The trek was a far cry from Ekin's glamorous Love Island days. 'I haven't washed my hair since I got here,' laughed Ekin. 'I've showered, don't worry! You don't think about those sort of things when you're here. You just think about living in the moment.'

She says she enjoyed being with 'wholesome, genuine, lovely, strong' people - and said it was a welcome reality check from the celebrity world. 'It's been very humbling,' said Ekin.
Known for her stints on Love Island, The Traitors US and Celebrity Big Brother, Ekin said it was nice to show her fellow trekkers the real her. 'I did say to them my industry is very lonely and it is a very ego high industry where you can lose yourself," told Ekin, who finished third in this year's Love Island All Stars with dancer Curtis Pritchard - but the pair split announced their split last month. "You can't always show who you really are. And moments like this make you very vulnerable and it shows your emotions, which is the real you. So that was nice for the ladies to see.'
She was joined by Great British Bake Off winner Candice Brown, and journalist Bryony Gordon alongside actress, author and CoppaFeel! patron Giovanna Fletcher, who led the group for UK's only youth focused breast cancer charity, CoppaFeel!.

Giovanna said the participation of one woman exemplified the importance of their campaign. 'She heard about CoppaFeel! from Instagram because of the treks,' she began. 'From that, she knew about signs and symptoms and six months later she found her own lump in which the doctor misdiagnosed. She has only just finished her treatment and is now trekking with us. I always say one of the reasons that we do these treks is so that people that are diagnosed can be diagnosed early and then walk with us in years to come.'

Maya Jama debuts chic new hairdo and wows in a tiny miniskirt on Love Island's Aftersun

Maya Jama debuted a new look on Sunday's episode of Love Island: Aftersun as she sported a shorter hairstyle. The presenter, 30, looked incredible with shoulder length hair while she put her figure on display in a figure-hugging pink suit. She showcased her long legs and tiny waist in the co-ord that flattered her incredible physique. Maya finished off the look with a pair of white, open-toed high heels. Taking to Instagram to promote the show, Maya shared a very cheeky video referencing her new look, calling her self a 'Bobby b***h'. Speaking in American accent, Maya filmed herself saying: 'OK, bobby b***h is ready to host the show. Make sure you tune in....' she then stumbled on her words before adding: 'I'm a clueless c*** today'. First hosted by the late Caroline Flack, Love Island's Aftersun is a popular addition to the reality dating show that takes a look at the week's events in the villa, often featuring interviews with departed islanders. Maya's show comes amid fears that the TV personality could be ready to say farewell to the ITV dating show as her career reaches new heights elsewhere. She got the biggest gig of her career to date when she was announced as the new presenter of Love Island in October 2022. Maya took over from Laura Whitmore, who presented for three seasons, and has been fronting the ITV2 show ever since. But her career has only been going from strength to strength in the years since with a booming beauty business and a rumoured role in a Netflix show. The current series of the show saw its lowest launch viewing figures since 2016 with just 1.4million tuning in. Meanwhile, Maya has no shortage of offers for other projects to keep herself busy. Although she is known as a TV presenter, Maya's first career goal was to become an actress. She auditioned for roles in her teens and even made it to the final round for a part in E4 teen drama Skins. When she didn't get the part, she focused on presenting instead, but it appears her acting ambitions have recently been reignited. The star has reportedly 'landed a sizzling new role' in the second series of Guy Ritchie's gangster drama The Gentlemen. She will reportedly play the glamorous wife of a shady associate linked to Theo James' lead character Eddie Horniman. Back in January, the BBC Three Glow Up presenter revealed she had been auditioning behind the scenes for a 'dream role' and hinted she wanted to play something completely different from her bubbly TV persona. She said: 'My dream role, I would want to be like a villain or something that's completely not like me, so then it shows that I can actually act. 'And then people would be like, wow, two different people.'

Simon Cowell 'has never been more angry' after treatment on Celebrity SAS

Simon Cowell was left less than impressed after he was hung up on while trying to give Lucy Spraggan words of encouragement during her stint on Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins. Last week former X Factor star Lucy, 34, was officially revealed as one of the famous faces who'd signed up to be put through their paces and undergo a course replicating the UK Special Forces selection course. Since the show began in 2015, there has also been six celebrity spin-off series', with the line-up of the upcoming season also including Love Island's Tasha Ghouri, The Traitors' Harry Clark, S Club's Hannah Spearritt and former glamour model Rebecca Loos. Speaking ahead of the premiere Lucy said she was determined to 'make it all the way to the end'. However, she's also detailed how X Factor creator Simon Cowell, who walked her down the aisle during her wedding last year, was left fuming while playing a role on the show. Despite Simon not being a recruit, he appears in the show when he calls Lucy to try and help motivate her. 'The DS [directing staff] hung up on him and he was like, 'I've never been so angry',' she shared when speaking to The Sun. In the interview Lucy also said the 65-year-old considered appearing on the show himself, but she was worried he'd 'die'. 'He thought it was a great idea, me doing the show. He knows I love being outdoors. We do a lot of shooting air rifles and stuff together, so he knows this is my thing, testing my mental resilience,' she said. 'It was just funny because he had said, 'Oh, maybe I'll try and have a go at it'. 'I was like, 'Simon, you would literally die!'. It was funny because it really contextualised how hard it was that I just straight away said to him, 'You would have no chance'.' However, Lucy said she thinks his wife Lauren Silverman, 48, could do it and 'should have a go'. Last year Simon spoke about his relationship with Lucy, saying that it 'feels like we've been friends for life'. Meanwhile Lucy said that 'everything people get from their fathers, I get from Simon', also calling Simon and his Lauren a 'constant support'. Speaking about appearing on Celebrity SAS, Lucy has said she hopes she 'has the mental grit to get to the end of the course'. 'I have been through quite a lot in my life, and I've done a lot of work to navigate what that left behind, and I really hope that I can apply it to the course, and make it all the way to the end,' she continued. More Trending 'I've always wanted to do this course, and what I love about this course is the sheer pressure it puts on a human being, that you will just not get anywhere else in life. And I've had pressure, I've had so many forms of pressure, nothing like this, so I really just genuinely want to see how far my brain can go.' The other stars appearing on this season include RuPaul's Drag Race UK season two star Bimini, Love Island's Chloe Burrows and Adam Collard, and rapper Lady Leshurr. They will also be joined by footballer Troy Deeney, dancer-and-choreographer Louie Spence, author Michaella McCollum, and former footballer Adebayo Akinfenwa.
