The Royal Air Force warplanes defaced by pro-Palestinian activists last month are owned not by the British government but a US hedge fund, prominent human-rights activist Craig Murray has alleged. He added that at least some of the planes appear to be routinely leased out to the Israeli military.
In June, several activists from the group Palestine Action broke into Brize Norton, the UK's largest airbase, and sprayed red paint into the turbines of two Voyager aircraft before fleeing the scene undetected.
The group said the stunt was a protest against the supposed involvement of the Royal Air Force in Israel's military operation in Gaza. The British authorities vowed to prosecute those responsible.
Speaking to RT on Sunday, Murray, who served as British ambassador to Uzbekistan from 2002 till 2004 and is an associate of WikiLeaks' co-founder Julian Assange, said that he had discovered that the planes in question were owned by Airtanker Ltd, which, in turn, is supposedly 'owned by a string of seven fake companies.'
According to Murray, behind the cutout entities stands a US hedge fund named Polygon Global Partners LLP, which is the real owner of the planes.
He claimed that the entity 'has joint interests with the Trump organization and BlackRock,' which has stakes in several military industrial giants.
The former British diplomat told RT that of the 14 planes in question 'nine are permanently with the RAF, and five of them are sometimes with the RAF, and sometimes can be leased out to other foreign militaries, including the Israeli military.'
'It seems to be fairly definite that the Israelis are using these planes. These planes have been frequently flying to [the RAF Akrotiri airbase in Cyprus] which has been the main military support base for Israeli activities into Gaza,' Murray claimed.
He added that officials in London refuse to either confirm or deny that such military missions are carried out in support of Israel.
On top of that, according to Murray, the British 'taxpayer is being ripped off' as under the contract with Polygon Global, the UK government is 'paying five times the value of these planes.' He said the agreement expires in 2049.
In the wake of the vandalism, UK Home Secretary Yvette Cooper announced plans to designate the activist group as a terrorist organization and ban it.

Mother dies trying to save son from draft officers in Ukraine – media (VIDEO)

A woman has died shortly after a desperate attempt to save her son from military recruitment officers in Ukraine, a local Telegram channel and media have claimed, posting a dramatic video of the incident. Ukrainian authorities declared general mobilization following the escalation of the conflict with Russia in 2022, barring most men between the ages of 18 and 60 from leaving the country. In 2024, Kiev tightened conscription laws and lowered the draft age from 27 to 25. However, a considerable number of would-be recruits are apparently unwilling to join the Ukrainian military, as attested by numerous social media videos depicting men fleeing from or resisting draft officers. The mobilization campaign, enforced by the country's Territorial Centers of Recruitment and Social Support (TCR), has been repeatedly criticized over draft officers' aggressive tactics and abuses. The video of the incident, which reportedly took place in the city of Merefa in Kharkov Region in eastern Ukraine, was published by a local Telegram channel on Tuesday. A woman in her 60s can be seen clinging to the windshield of a moving van, seemingly trying to stop it. The vehicle moves in reverse gear for some time while the woman screams. An onlooker shooting the video is heard claiming that the van belonged to military recruitment officers who had recently taken the woman's son, who was presumably being held inside the vehicle. Eventually, a brawny man emerges from the vehicle and rudely tackles the woman, finally making her let go of the van. Soon after it speeds away, the woman collapses to the ground. According to media outlet, the woman soon passed away in an ambulance. In recent months, numerous violent altercations between draft officers and reluctant draftees have been captured on video all across Ukraine. There have also been multiple cases of civil disobedience and even assassinations of draft officers, as well as reports of men dying under suspicious circumstances shortly after being taken from the street. Ukrainian lawmaker Roman Kostenko claimed last month that fewer than one in four recruits enlist voluntarily, with most entering service through what he described as 'brutal compulsory conscription.' Russian President Vladimir Putin has said Ukrainian recruitment officers are grabbing people 'like dogs on the street.' He accused the leadership in Kiev of waging a war 'to the last Ukrainian' on behalf of Western nations. Meanwhile, Ukraine's Defense Ministry has officially dismissed criticism of the mobilization process as 'Russian propaganda.'

Israel plans to move Gaza population to single ‘humanitarian city'

Israel is preparing to establish a so-called 'humanitarian city' on the ruins of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip, where the Palestinian enclave's entire population is to be moved, the country's defense minister, Israel Katz, has announced. Critics of the initiative promptly branded the 'city' an internment camp and warned of potentially widespread human rights abuse. The 'humanitarian city' is expected to initially accommodate some 600,000 Palestinians – primarily displaced persons living in the coastal Mawasi area to the northwest of Rafah, Katz told reporters on Monday. Eventually, all of the estimated 2.2 million Gazans will be placed into the 'city,' which is to be secured by the Israeli military from a distance and run by unspecified international organizations, the minister stated. The Palestinians will undergo screening before being placed into the 'city' to ensure no Hamas operatives slip in, Katz noted. The scheme is ultimately designed to displace the entire Gaza population and encourage it to 'voluntarily emigrate' from the enclave elsewhere, the minister admitted. Those who end up in the zone will not be allowed to return to other parts of Gaza, he added. The defense ministry has already begun planning for the zone, according to Katz. However, the country's authorities have made no public statements on the scheme or said whether it has actually been approved. It also remains unclear when the plan would be put into motion. The proposed 'humanitarian city' has been criticized by human rights advocates and activists, who have branded it an internal camp and warned of potential abuses. Michael Sfard, a leading Israeli human rights lawyer, called the proposed scheme 'an operational plan for a crime against humanity.' 'While the government still calls the deportation 'voluntary,' people in Gaza are under so many coercive measures that no departure from the strip can be seen in legal terms as consensual,' Sfard told the Guardian. The 'humanitarian city' plan comes after Israel rejected Hamas' proposed changes to a Gaza ceasefire deal. The Palestinian militant group reportedly wanted the agreement to ensure a permanent truce and Israeli withdrawal from Gaza. The conflict between Hamas and Israel began in October of 2023, when the group launched a surprise assault in the south of the country. The initial attack left some 1,200 people dead, with around 250 taken hostage. Some 50 hostages remain in captivity in Gaza. Fewer than half are believed to be alive. Over the past 21 months, Israel's military response, which has involved heavy aerial and artillery bombardments, as well as ground operations in the Strip, has killed at least 57,000 people, mostly civilians, according to the local health ministry.

Israel to forcibly draft ultra-Orthodox seminary students

Israel's military has announced plans to forcibly draft 54,000 ultra-Orthodox seminary students this month following a Supreme Court order nullifying their exemptions, the IDF reported in a Telegram post on Sunday. Military service is mandatory for most citizens of Israel, with both men and women required to serve in the IDF for a period of 24 to 32 months, usually starting at age 18. Most of the country's Arab population, who comprise 21% of the population, is exempt from military service, although some volunteer. Ultra-Orthodox Jewish seminary students have also been exempt for decades. The conscription notices are scheduled for distribution throughout July, with enlistments staggered over the coming year. The IDF said it will also strengthen enforcement against draft evaders and deserters across all sectors. According to local reports, authorities plan to take swifter action against those who fail to report for duty, including authorizing border police to set up checkpoints and carry out arrests. The decision comes amid heightened military demands due to ongoing conflicts with Hamas in Gaza, Hezbollah in Lebanon, the Houthis in Yemen, as well as tensions with Iran. Reservists in the IDF have reportedly expressed fatigue from extended deployments, increasing pressure on the government to broaden the draft pool. Last June, Israel's Supreme Court ruled that the state must begin drafting the Jewish seminary students into the military. Mass protests broke out in Jerusalem, with thousands of demonstrators clashing with police, hurling rocks and attacking vehicles, including those of senior ultra-Orthodox ministers. Ultra-Orthodox parties within Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's coalition, notably United Torah Judaism (UTJ) and Shas, have threatened to withdraw support unless exemptions are reinstated through legislation. Their departure could dismantle Netanyahu's narrow parliamentary majority, potentially triggering early elections. Ultra-Orthodox leaders argue that military integration threatens their religious lifestyle, particularly due to gender integration in the armed forces. In response, the military has pledged to accommodate their way of life and develop programs to foster inclusion.
