Riding high from her singles triumph, Zi Yu then paired up with Auni Fatihin Azuan to take the doubles title.
The Johor pair cruised past Putrajaya's R. Loshini-Leong Hwee Ling, winning 21-15, 21-13.
In the boys' Under-16 singles final, Penang's Lim Zheng Jie staged a spirited comeback to beat Perak's Leong Di Shan 12-21, 21-19, 21-12.
Melaka's Ahmad Qaid Darwisy Ahmad Fuad-Syed Harraz Syed Muzir won the boys' doubles crown, beating Kelantan's Khashah Khairul Azlan-Hazwan Hafiy Najwan 21-17, 21-13.

Malaysia to battle defending champs China at Asian Juniors

PETALING JAYA: Shuttlers Dania Sofea Zaidi-Low Zi Yu and their teammates warmed up for their huge clash against hosts Indonesia in the group stage of the Asian Junior Championships mixed team event today by beating Myanmar. World Junior girls' doubles silver medallists Dania-Zi Yu and Co were hardly troubled and recorded a comfortable 110-52 win over the minnows in their Group B match in Solo, Indonesia, yesterday. It was the team's second win in the tourney after brushing aside Macau 110-59 in their opening group match a day earlier. By the time Dania-Zi Yu entered the court against Myanmar, the team were already holding a 33-18 lead courtesy of wins from Loh Ziheng-Nuraqilah Maisarah Ramdan (mixed doubles), Ziheng-Tan Zhiyang (boys' doubles) and Lim Zhi Shin (girls' singles). Dania-Zi Yu then swiftly made it 44-22 before Lim Boon Le, Razeeq Danial Rosli (boys' singles), Datu Anif Isaac-Nicole Tan (mixed doubles), Damien Ling-Mohd Shazmir Irfan (boys' doubles), Oo Shan Zi (girls' singles) and Nicole Chau-Nur Aina Maisarah (girls' doubles) delivered the other points. The win was especially meaningful for Dania, who had earlier fallen short in the mixed doubles final with Datu Anif Isaac Datu Asrah despite going in as the top seeds in Kangar, Perlis yesterday. Dania-Datu lost 22-20, 15-21, 12-21 to compatriots Loh Zi Heng-Noraqilah Maisarah in a 54-minute duel. But the Johor-born shuttler made amends in the girls' doubles final when she and Zi Yu outplayed Thailand's Khanaphon Deearom-Thanaphon Deearom 21-11, 21-19 to lift the title. 'I just gave my best. Of course, there's pressure going into the Asian Juniors because the coaches are expecting Zi Yu and I to deliver, especially after we finished runners-up at the World Junior Championships last year. But I'm embracing the pressure,' said Dania. Top seeds Loh Zi Heng-Tan Zhi Yang failed to add more titles for Malaysia when they fell to Indonesia's Alexius Subagio-Aquino Tangka 21-18, 19-21, 20-22 in the boys' doubles final.
