MultiBank Group Signs Strategic Partnership With MAG to Tokenize $3 Billion Real Estate Assets

Business Wire05-05-2025
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates--(BUSINESS WIRE)--MultiBank Group, the world's largest financial derivatives institution based in Dubai has signed a historic $3 billion tokenization agreement with MAG, the leading real estate developer in the UAE, and Mavryk, a leading blockchain innovator — marking the largest real-world asset (RWA) tokenization initiative globally to date. The initiative highlights the imminent launch of $MBG, the utility token at the core of MultiBank's next-generation digital finance ecosystem.
The largest tokenization initiative of its kind comes ahead of the $MBG token launch, paving the way for regulated digital access to prime property assets.

The partnership will bring MAG's high-value real estate developments — The Ritz-Carlton Residences, Dubai, Creekside, which is part of the Keturah Resort, and Keturah Reserve — onto the blockchain, making them available to global investors via MultiBank.io's fully regulated RWA marketplace. Once launched, holders of the RWA assets will be able to earn yield distributed daily on the MultiBank.io platform.
The $MBG token will power access, staking, fee payments, and platform engagement, positioning it as the infrastructure layer behind institutional-grade digital asset offerings.
As part of the agreement, MAG will provide its premium real estate inventory for tokenization, while Mavryk will deliver the blockchain infrastructure to support on-chain asset issuance and DeFi integrations. MultiBank Group will oversee regulatory compliance, secondary market liquidity, and platform governance — all reinforced by the $MBG token's multi-layered utility.
'This isn't just a real estate deal — it is a flagship use case for the $MBG token. By enabling seamless access to $3B in tokenized property, MultiBank becomes the bridge between regulated finance and next-generation investment infrastructure. This is how we make Web3 real.' said Zak Taher, Founder and CEO of MultiBank.io.
Talal Moafaq Al Gaddah, Senior Executive Vice Chairman of MAG, said: "At MAG, we have always been driven by excellence and a passion for shaping the property landscape of tomorrow. Partnering with MultiBank Group marks a milestone in broadening access to high-value developments and unlocking liquidity via blockchain, while preserving uncompromising standards of transparency and stakeholder protection."
Alex Davis, Founder and CEO of Mavryk, commented 'This collaboration represents a paradigm shift in how real-world assets are accessed and traded. By leveraging our advanced tokenization and DeFi infrastructure, we are transforming landmark developments into borderless, liquid investment opportunities. Together with MAG and MultiBank Group, we are laying the technological foundation for a transparent, scalable future where institutional-grade assets are available at the click of a button.'
With a buyback-and-burn model tied to platform revenues, and staking rewards designed to incentivize long-term engagement, MultiBank Group provides tangible value for both retail and institutional users. From discounted fees and VIP tiers to launchpad access and real-world asset exposure, the $MBG token is engineered to reward participation and drive ecosystem demand.
The initial tokenization of $3 billion is just the beginning. The platform is built to scale up to $10 billion in assets, setting the stage for a new era of programmable ownership and compliant digital investing — with $MBG at its foundation.

Tokenization Specialist Centrifuge Appoints Former Goldman Sachs Executive as COO

Centrifuge (CFG), a blockchain platform focused on tokenizing investment products, has appointed Jürgen Blumberg, former Goldman Sachs executive of the firm's exchange-traded fund (ETF) accelerator business in Europe, as its new chief operating officer. He will also serve as chief investment officer for Anemoy, Centrifuge's affiliated on-chain asset management firm. The appointment comes as tokenization of real-world assets (RWA) is drawing new attention from the traditional finance world. Global banks, asset managers are increasingly explore using blockchain rails for moving and recording ownership of assets like bonds, funds and equities. They do so pursuing operational efficiencies, broader distribution and around-the-clock, programmable transactions. It's potentially a huge opportunity. The tokenized RWA market, now standing at $25 billion and more than doubling in a year, is projected to grow to multiple trillions of dollars over the next decade, according to reports by McKinsey, 21Shares, Ripple and BCG. Centrifuge is building regulated structures for these products, positioning itself as a bridge between blockchain rails and financial institutions seeking exposure to digital versions of familiar investment products. It has over $760 million of total value locked on the platform, DefiLlama data shows, including the $400 million tokenized U.S. Treasury fund issued with Anemoy. The protocol recently expanded products to Avalanche (AVAX) and Solana (SOL), created an on-chain version of the S&P 500 Index and launched a tokenized fund of collateralized loan obligations with asset manager Janus Henderson. Before joining Centrifuge, Blumberg spent over two decades in traditional capital markets at Goldman Sachs, Invesco and BlackRock, helping develop the ETF market into a major part of global asset management. In an interview with CoinDesk, he draw parallels between tokenization and the early days of ETFs and how it disrupted the mutual funds market. "There's a big part of the world which was never really the focus of traditional finance: the Global South, for example, or all those countries which have problems with high inflation, or with currencies which are not really easy to use in other jurisdictions," Blumberg explained. "Now suddenly they get a whole new ecosystem in the DeFi [decentralized finance] world, which lets all of them participate [and] give them the same quality of products as anybody else." "Tokenized real world assets are really democratizing the financial ecosystem," he added. Blumberg will focus on helping bring traditional finance firms on-chain and simultaneously improve operations and tokenized products for institutional use. "There's a big distribution opportunity for TradFi," he said. "From a technology point of view, if you are too late, you might miss the train."Error in retrieving data Sign in to access your portfolio Error in retrieving data Error in retrieving data Error in retrieving data Error in retrieving data

DeFi Protocol CrediX Taken Offline After $4.5M Exploit

Sonic-based decentralized finance (DeFi) protocol CrediX Finance was taken offline after being struck by a $4.5 million exploit. The protocol, which has been live for less than a month, revealed there was a "security breach" at 9:10 UTC on Monday. The website was taken offline to prevent users from depositing. Blockchain security firm CertiK said all the stolen funds were bridged from Sonic to Ethereum and now sit in three separate wallets. The method of attack remains is unclear but it's worth noting that multi-sig wallet breaches became the most common attack vector in the first half of 2025, contributing to a total of $3.1 billion lost to hacks during that period. "All users funds will be recovered in full within 24-48 hours," CrediX wrote on X to quell the concerns of investors who were unable to access the website. Why Mode Network's investor deposits dropped 99% in one year

Mode Network is just 1% of what it once was. Its total value locked, or TVL — a metric for how much investor funds are in a blockchain or DeFi protocol — has fallen to just under $4 million, a 99% from its May 2024 peak, according to onchain data from DefiLlama. The onchain data contradict Mode's own website, which still touts that it has more than $500 million in TVL and hundreds of thousands of users, which would make it a DeFi mammoth. Mode Network didn't return several requests for comment. The network's native token, Mode, has also declined massively, down more than 98% from its all-time high price from a year ago, according to DefiLlama. Mercenary capital Mode Network is an Ethereum layer 2 blockchain that aims to use artificial intelligence for DeFi applications. Mode's TVL pumped last year amid its turbo-points airdrop campaign after securing a $5.3 million grant from Optimism, an Ethereum layer 2 blockchain, in January 2024. At its May 2024 peak, it boasted a $582 million TVL. That period coincided with a hyped buzz for DeFi projects that offered similar rewards in exchange for liquidity provision. But like other incentive-style growth campaigns in crypto, the liquidity bump that came Mode's rewards programme did not last long. It's a familiar pattern. DeFi projects juiced on token emissions alone enjoy sudden user volume and TVL spikes. But the growth is usually ephemeral, and they eventually flame out when the drip stops and they're unable to pivot to another growth strategy. Berachain, a once-promising layer 1 blockchain, has lost more than $3 billion in investor funds since March amid a massive decline in yield-based incentives that drove user capital to other blockchains. Even with more than 50 DeFi projects on the blockchain, Mode is now a user engagement desert with hardly any onchain revenue being generated.
