Holly Rey claps back at critic after being questioned over Hey Neighbour festival slot

From lineup criticism to clapbacks from local artists, this year's Hey Neighbour festival rollout has been anything but quiet.

Music festival Hey Neighbour is two months away and has released more names of the artists that will be performing.
Organisers have announced Grammy award-winning musician Doja Cat and the United Kingdom's trailblazing Central Cee and Leon Thomas as the headline acts.
Acts for day 2 are DJ Lochive, Elaine, Akio, DJ Nkosh, Khuli Chana, Holly Rey, Nia Pearl, Tortured Soul, Sun El Musician and Muzi.
The first Hey Neighbour festival created major impressions among festival goers, but it seems that this year's lineup might be struggling to live up to the high expectations.
Hopeful attendees aren't too impressed with some of the local artists being brought to perform at the festival.
@Shaun_thefirst tweeted: 'Guys who is making these decisions!!??'
'Bona themselves do they listen to Holly Rey? Have they ever picked their phone up to play a Holly Rey song? Would you leave your house to go listen to Holly Rey? Name me 5 Holly Rey songs.'
However, Holly Rey clapped back and reminded the critic that her music is being listened to by her fans and she is deserving of being on the lineup.
'My bank account, Spotify streams and multiple songs that have gone multi platinum, in more then just Mzansi, would beg to differ, but who am I to argue with a wanna be DJ who puts 'umthandi wegqom' as their bio.'
Fans of the festival have mixed reactions to the artists being announced and are making it known.
@Miggs_NotMigos said: 'The hey neighbour lineup has me in stitches. 😭 so they spent their whole budget on Central Cee & Doja.. 😭😭'
@SupremeShae said: 'Hey Neighbour day 2 line up is looking shaky🤣 only committing to Doja cause my homie wants to see her.'
@Cocobby02 said: 'Hey Neighbour's marketing team is probably going through it. Every artist announcement is received with immediate backlash. I really hope they have more up their sleeves.'
Hey Neighbour organisers, this year have made changes such as the festival being over two days instead of three. The festival will take place at Legends Adventure Farm, Pretoria on August 30 - 31.

WATCH: Dream comes true for student who managed to get Tyla as his date for his matric dance

Matriculant Mollwane Madiba's dream came true when Grammy award-winning singer Tyla showed up to his matric dance. A dream come true: matric student Mollwane Madiba with his date, Tyla at his matric dance. Picture: @BALUCIAGA/X Dreams come true for those who are persistent and patient enough. These words hold true for matric student Mollwane Madiba. After months of campaigning like a politician in election season and with a child-like conviction that was borderline delusional, Madiba's dream of having Grammy award-winning singer Tyla as his matric dance partner come true. The South African global star attended the matric dance after many people thought Madiba's dream wouldn't become a reality. Even a day before the dance, doubt began to creep in as Madiba started asking people who might be interested in being his date to reach out to him. 'I just got to Sandton to get my suit, I don't want to go to this dance alone,' he said in a video. 'If there's anyone who wants to go with me, message me ASAP [as soon as possible].' In one video students ask 'Who do you think Mollwane is taking to MD?' followed by responses of 'Tyla, obviously.' Using the hashtag #MOandTYLAForMD, almost all the videos feature Tyla's song Push 2 Start. Madiba has seemingly met Tyla, as he has a photo of himself with the Water singer. In one video shot in what appears to be a school library, the photo of the two is displayed prominently on bookshelves, walls and wherever it can be seen. How life has changed for Uyanda Hlangabezo after being on Big Brother Mzansi

Uyanda Hlangabezo has extended his leave as a teacher so he could attend events such as the upcoming Durban July. Uyanda Hlangabezo has opened up about how his life has changed after being on Big Brother Mzansi. Picture: uyanda_hlangabezo /Instagram Former Big Brother contestant Uyanda Hlangabezo's life has changed significantly after being part of the reality TV show, to the extent that he has had to step away from his full-time job as a teacher by taking extended leave. Because the reality show premiered in January, Hlangabezo says he missed the first term of school. 'In term two when I was back from Big Brother, I decided to go to work for one week, which is when I realised that it was hard for me to balance work in the industry and my profession,' Hlangabezo says. 'I'm a qualified educator, which is a pedagogical practitioner but because of the events that I'm attending, I decided to extend my unpaid leave,' Hlangabezo told The Citizen. He says his pupils have found his newfound fame inspiring. 'They're super inspired. Lately I've been getting invitations from different schools to be a motivational speaker. To see learners in schools being inspired by my story is amazing.' 'That shows the role that I've played in the Big Brother house. I don't want to lie, my life has changed a lot. Weekly, I'm busy with a lot of brands that I'm working with,' he said. Hlangabezo says he received several invitations from various marquees at this year's July event, but decided to accept Executive Concerts' invitation to their marquee. T'bo Touch will host the marque alongside business personality Hope Mbele. 'Durban July is one of the biggest events in South Africa and I'm very excited to see people recognise me after being on Big Brother is something that I'm grateful for.' This will be his first Durban July. The performers headlining the Executive Concerts marquee are Kabza De Small, Nkosazana Daughter, DJ Merlon, Stanky and a handpicked line-up of local legends and surprise guest performances – blending amapiano beats with refined sophistication. It's about shaping a cultural moment where Africa's elite can connect, celebrate and showcase the best of who we are,' says Andile Chili, founding partner of Executive Concerts.
