Pistol fell out of man's bulletproof vest while he was being searched for cannabis, gardaí say
A MAN WHO gardaí searched after smelling cannabis in a taxi he was in had a gun fall out of a ballistic vest he was wearing, gardaí said.
Gardaí said they had observed two 'males on interest' entering a taxi while on routine patrol in Inchicore yesterday evening, at approximately 8pm.
The gardaí stopped the taxi, and were met by the strong smell of cannabis.

The two males were told they were going to be searched under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1977. One of the males, aged in his 20s, was found to be wearing a ballistic vest, or bulletproof vest, and a gun fell out of it during the search.
He was also found to be in possession of a substantial sum of money. Gardaí seized the .22 calibre pistol and the vest and arrested the man in connection with the seizure.
He is currently detained at a garda station in Dublin.
The firearm is now subject to full technical examination and an investigation is ongoing.

A 20-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested by police investigating an incident where slurry was spread on a street in Ballymena, Co Antrim before a Pride parade yesterday. Children among injured and two dead following Russian strikes on Ukraine's Odessa
TWO PEOPLE HAVE died and children are among 14 people who have been wounded by Russian strikes in Ukraine's city of Odessa this morning. Odessa's governor Oleg Kiper confirmed the strikes this morning in a post to Telegram and said rescuers are working to save those trapped under rubble. He detailed that the strikes hit residential buildings in the city and that three children were injured in the attack. Moscow launched drone and missile attacks on Ukraine as peace talks initiated by the US have stalled. Russia has demanded Ukraine cede more land and give up Western military support as a precondition to peace, something Kyiv deems unacceptable. Man arrested after Ballymena 'spread with slurry overnight' ahead of town's first Pride parade
LAST UPDATE | 34 mins ago A MAN HAS BEEN arrested after slurry was spread on streets in Ballymena and shopfronts have allegedly been vandalised with spray paint ahead of a Pride parade that is due to take place in the Co Antrim town this afternoon. Business owners this morning opened their shutters on Ballymoney Street and Greenvale Street, close to the Town Centre shopping centre, to find that slurry had been spread up and down the roads overnight. Family-owned businesses and their staff are currently cleaning up the mess ahead of the town's first ever Pride parade this afternoon , which was due to finish up on Greenvale Street. The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) have said that one man, aged 19, was arrested this morning in connection with their investigation. Police said that the incident, which happened just before 3am this morning, is being treated as a hate crime. The 19-year-old was arrested after being accused of criminal damage and possession of a blade, the PSNI said. Local SDLP councillor Denise Johnston wrote on X: 'I am hearing that the town centre in Ballymena has been spread with slurry overnight ahead of the town's first Pride rally.
