Design Your Future announces Advisory Committee for 2nd edition
Building on the success of the first edition, DYF remains committed to bridging the gap between education and the professional world. DYF serves as a guide—offering insights, industry exposure, and mentorship that enable students, young professionals, and parents to make informed choices about their futures.
The Advisory Committee for the second edition includes Zahraa Taher as chairperson, alongside respected industry leaders Dr. Zainab Al-Tooq from the Higher Education Council, Shaikha Buallay from INJAZ Bahrain, Maryam Rahimi from Tamkeen, Kalyan Subramanian from KPMG, Nabeela Al Qaseer, a life coach, and Zainab Assiri, a training consultant. Representing the voice of students, the committee also welcomes Fatima Hussain from the University of Bahrain, Mariam Almardini from King's College London, Ali Aryan from Bahrain Bayan School, and Ahmed Almerbati from the British University of Bahrain.
Aligned with Bahrain's Vision 2030, the Advisory Committee will play a key role in ensuring DYF continues to foster connections between education and industry, enabling young individuals to gain exposure to professional environments, understand market needs, and develop the right perspectives to navigate their career paths.
The second edition of DYF will continue to expand its initiativesto provide participants with practical exposure and real-world guidance. The DYF Business Show will integrate students into corporate teams, offering firsthand experience and industry insights. The DYF Podcast will feature discussions on career pathways, industry trends, and the evolving job market, providing young individuals with valuable perspectives. The Skills Hunt initiative will encourage participants to sharpen their decision-making, adaptability, and technical skills in a competitive and engaging environment. The MC's Competition will identify and support students with strong public speaking potential, while interactive workshops will expose participants to leadership, communication, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship.
The DYF Education & Future Design Forum will bring together educators, professionals, and students to explore the evolving role of education in shaping career development.

Diriyah Dates Season celebrates sector's growth and heritage
RIYADH: Diriyah Gov. Prince Fahd bin Saad bin Abdullah has praised the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture for developing the date production sector in the Kingdom and enhancing the quality of dates as a national product. He highlighted the ministry's support programs for farmers and initiatives that add value to dates, aligning with Vision 2030 goals, the Saudi Press Agency reported. His remarks came during the inauguration of the Diriyah Dates Season and accompanying exhibition, which runs until July 24. The event, organized by the National Center for Palms and Dates, aims to boost the sale of Saudi dates locally and globally, and provide an insight into Diriyah's heritage through cultural and social activities. The exhibition features booths for date vendors, processed date products, palm by-products and items from family-run cottage industries. It also has restaurants, cafes, food trucks, workshops for adults and children, a date auction zone and a horse parade. The Ministry of Culture is also represented with a booth showcasing artisans specializing in palm-based crafts as part of the Year of Handicrafts. The Kingdom's palm and date sector is growing rapidly. According to figures from the General Authority for Statistics production surpassed 1.9 million tonnes in 2024, with SR1.7 billion ($453 million) worth of dates exported to 133 countries, up significantly from the previous year. This growth reflects the Kingdom's strong production capacity and government efforts to improve quality, expand global outreach and develop supply chains.

Saudi Arabia leads MENA in venture capital with $860 million in H1 2025
Saudi Gazette report RIYADH — Saudi Arabia maintained its position as the top destination for venture capital investment in the Middle East and North Africa during the first half of 2025, attracting SR3.2 billion ($860 million) in funding for startups, surpassing the total VC investment recorded in all of 2024. The figures, released by MAGNiTT, a platform specializing in startup investment data, highlight the Kingdom's robust and evolving economic environment under the Vision 2030 framework. According to the report, Saudi Arabia accounted for 56% of all venture capital investment in the MENA region during H1 2025. The Kingdom also achieved a record number of deals, with 114 venture capital transactions completed during the same period, a strong indicator of investor confidence and the attractiveness of the Saudi market. This milestone reinforces Saudi Arabia's status as the region's largest economy and underscores the growing competitiveness of its startup ecosystem.

FlyNow eCopters to take flight in Saudi Arabia soon
In a major step toward integrating flying taxis into daily transportation, Saudi Arabia is all set to produce thousands of eCopters, FlyNow Aviation's electric air vehicles, all of which will carry the 'Saudi Made' label, according to FlyNow Aviation's Co-founder and Chief Operating Officer Yvonne Winter. The Austria-based FlyNow Aviation is working to set up the assembly plant and will start the production of the cargo version in 2027. Officially, FlyNow's eCopters are expected to transport the public during Riyadh Expo 2030. 'Additionally, test operations (sandbox flights) are planned for 2025 in Saudi Arabia to adapt the technology to local conditions,' Winter told Arab News. Speaking about the future of mobility in Saudi Arabia, she said: 'Saudi Arabia is not only transforming its economy — it is shaping the future of mobility for the entire world.' She added: 'Under the leadership of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Vision 2030, the Kingdom is proving that bold ideas, advanced technology, and national pride can work hand in hand. We are honored to be part of this historic journey and proud to contribute to building Saudi-made solutions for global air mobility.' In May 2024, FlyNow Aviation signed a memorandum of understanding with the General Authority of Civil Aviation, the National Industrial Development Center, and the Sky Alliance for Automated Air Mobility. 'The cooperation aims to support the development of electric air mobility in Saudi Arabia, including regulations, airspace integration, vertiport infrastructure, and operational guidelines for unmanned air taxis,' Winter explained. In late 2024, FlyNow Aviation established a new company, FlyNow Arabia Ltd., in Riyadh, as part of its expansion strategy. The company plans to set up local production facilities to serve both domestic and international markets. FlyNow is an alumnus of the Destination Deep Tech program at the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, and Winter has been invited to share insights with the participants of the follow-up program called KAUST ScaleX, which has been designed to support innovative global tech startups in expanding their operations into the Kingdom's market. Recently, Flynow achieved a significant milestone in the development of its modular eCopter family: the first untethered test flights were successfully completed at the newly secured testing site in Eastern Austria. This location enables unrestricted flight operations and accelerates its technical progress.
