Dylan O'brien's trans sibling exposes truth amid actor's claims of support: 'Hasn't spoken to me in over a year"

Express Tribune05-05-2025
Dylan O'Brien's transmasc sibling, Julz O'Brien, has said they have not spoken to the actor in over a year, despite his public comments in 2024 expressing support and gratitude for having queer people in his life. The remarks came in response to a resurfaced interview from the Sundance Film Festival, where Dylan promoted his film Ponyboi.
In the interview, Dylan said, 'I have a trans, non-binary sibling and I know people in my personal life as well who are queer. I am so grateful for how much it deepens my experience in this world.' The comment was highlighted in a Gay Times Instagram post earlier this week.
Julz, 35, replied directly in the comments, first clarifying that they identify as transmasculine and use he/they pronouns. 'He also hasn't spoken to me in over a year,' Julz wrote. 'He didn't check in when I had top surgery. He didn't even wish me a happy bday last week!' They added, 'But glad I could deepen his experience in this world and make the world love him that much more.'
Julz also criticised the post and article for using their image and referring to them without reaching out. 'Kinda funny that this article didn't ask me for a single thing about myself? It's about me and uses my photo. I'm not even tagged,' they commented.
Julz and Dylan previously appeared to be close, with multiple birthday posts over the years. In 2022, Julz wrote on Instagram, 'Happy Birthday, Dyl!! Love you so much,' alongside throwback photos. In earlier posts, they described Dylan as their 'very first best friend.'
Dylan stars in Ponyboi as a character involved in a secretive relationship with an intersex protagonist, played by River Gallo. The film, which debuted at Sundance in 2024, is set for theatrical release this June.

Lana Del Rey shares rare wedding photo ahead of first anniversary

Lana Del Rey is offering fans a rare glimpse into her private life, sharing a never-before-seen photo from her wedding to Jeremy Dufrene just weeks before their first anniversary. The singer, known for her dreamy visuals and deeply personal lyrics, posted the dimly lit image on Instagram, showing her standing at the altar with Dufrene, holding hands and gazing into each other's eyes. The ceremony took place on 26 September 2024 in Des Allemandes, Louisiana, deep in the bayou where Dufrene runs swamp boat tours. The location wasn't just scenic, it held deep personal meaning for the couple, as it was where they first met. A small circle of family and friends witnessed the ceremony, officiated by Churchome pastor Judah Smith, who was also tagged in Del Rey's heartfelt caption: 'May 12 angels guard you while you preach tonight.' While their romance only became public in August 2024 after a Reddit user spotted them together in London, sources confirm their connection goes back years. Dufrene had appeared on Del Rey's Facebook as early as 2019, though no romantic involvement was confirmed at the time. Since marrying, Del Rey and Dufrene have fully embraced their quirky love story. In April, they celebrated with an alligator-themed birthday cake and matching 'bride' and 'groom' boat captain hats. Del Rey's hat even featured a short wedding veil. The cake, shaped like a gator rising from the water, read 'Happy birthday gator! Always standing bayou.' Friends close to Del Rey describe the relationship as whirlwind yet grounded, calling Dufrene a Southern gentleman who treats her with the kind of old-fashioned care she values. As their one-year anniversary approaches, the newly shared photo offers fans a tender look into a love story as unconventional as it is sincere.

'Guess' co-founder defends AI model and insists human models aren't going anywhere

Paul Marciano, co-founder of Guess, has become the face of a raging debate over fashion's future after hiring an AI-generated model for the brand's latest campaign. Despite fierce backlash, he insisted to TMZ that the real-life models will remain centre stage at Guess. The controversy erupted after Vogue published an ad featuring an AI-generated figure, created by marketing agency Seraphinne Vallora under Marciano's direction. Critics blasted the decision, arguing it erodes opportunities for real models and promotes impossible beauty ideals. Despite the heat, Marciano claimed he was drawn to the concept when scrolling through Instagram: 'When one of their AI models had total Guess girl vibes,' he explained, it piqued his interest. Marciano emphasized that the AI experiment is not intended to replace human talent. He reaffirmed Guess's continuing support for real models, noting that the next major campaign will feature entirely human faces. He dismissed critics, stating the decision to introduce AI 'wasn't a reaction to backlash or someone's opinions.' The initiative is backed by high production costs: each AI model reportedly costs low six figures to create and is trained using real reference photos to ensure authenticity and brand alignment. Still, concerns remain over issues like image rights, diversity limitations, and consent. Seraphinne Vallora co-founders even admitted they can't yet generate plus-size models and said models' feedback most often limits AI lifelike representations. Lila Gonzalez and Andreea Petrescu, founders of Seraphinne Vallora, claim the AI tools serve as creative extensions, not replacements, for real human models, offering added flexibility in campaigns. Yet their agency has sparked broader debate about ethics in fashion: Who owns AI-generated likenesses, and how easily can content be removed if a model changes their mind? Marciano likened the AI tool to past innovations Guess embraced, much like its bold switch to colour logos when competitors stuck to monotone branding. He said, 'Guess has always had an eye for what's next. Human models still matter. This was just a creative experiment that caught my eye.'

JoJo Siwa's ex makes surprise couple debut after public split

Kath Ebbs is officially moving on. Just three months after being publicly dumped by JoJo Siwa following the Celebrity Big Brother finale, the 27-year-old content creator has gone Instagram official with a new partner, AFLW player Tilly Lucas-Rodd. The couple shared intimate photo booth snaps on Instagram, including a kiss and smiling embraces, confirming their relationship after weeks of speculation. 'The rumours are true! Yes I still (stupidly) believe in love,' Kath captioned the post. Tilly, 29, is a professional Australian Rules footballer for Hawthorn and the first AFLW player to undergo top surgery, which they documented on social media. They are non-binary and use they/them pronouns. Their flirty exchange with Kath first began on TikTok earlier in July when Kath posted a video with the caption, 'Hope this one doesn't cheat on me,' in a thinly veiled reference to JoJo. Another clip called Tilly her new 'crush,' with Tilly responding playfully in the comments. The social media reveal follows a very public breakup. JoJo, 21, reportedly ended things with Kath just hours after leaving the CBB house, where she had grown increasingly close with fellow contestant Chris Hughes. Their flirtatious behaviour raised eyebrows, especially since JoJo was still publicly with Kath at the time. After the finale, JoJo immediately began dating Chris and has since spoken openly about wanting to marry him. Fans have rallied behind Kath, flooding her comments with support. 'You definitely won that break-up,' one wrote. 'WAG era activated,' said another. Even pop singer Peach PRC joined in, commenting, 'YAAAYYY.' The reveal also came just hours after Kath was approached at the airport by paparazzo Jayden Seyfarth, who bombarded her with intrusive questions about JoJo. She remained calm but gave no comment. That same day, she introduced her new relationship to the world.
