More info Ryan Tubridy has shared stunning snapshots from his trip to Wimbledon with fiancée Dr Clare Kambamettu. The couple enjoyed the sunshine and the famous Pimms drinks at the London tennis tournament, and dressed up for the occasion. The radio presenter looked dapper in a blue suit jacket with white trousers, while Dr Clare shone in a simple khaki dress. Her beautiful engagement ring was also visible as she held up her glass of Pimms, with the diamond sparking in the sunlight. The broadcaster said that he has grown up watching the wold-renowned tournament. "I've been watching this event since I was a young boy and love the sights and sounds of the tournament. I was weaned on the likes of John McEnroe, Jimmy Connors, Ivan Lendl and Boris Becker," he penned in his Mail on Sunday column. "It was an era of cranky superstars and Robinson's orange cordial and linesmen/women who risked their lives as they crouched and waited for a ball to come towards them at 120mph." They were not the only Irish celebrities present for the games, with Angela Scanlon and Eve Hewson making an appearance. Ryan and his bride-to-be became engaged in June, when he got down on one knee during a staycation in the West of Ireland. Speaking on the radio, he said: "I have a little bit of news that I've been keeping to myself - to ourselves. "I'm very, very, very happy to confirm I did get engaged to my partner Clare in the West of Ireland on Thursday evening. It is a very beautiful feeling,. We were surrounded by gorgeous people who we didn't know, strangers in the hotel, and people who were working around the place. I got a beautiful ring organised and the weather was gorgeous." Ryan kept the rest of the details under wraps for now, until he can tell his family, but he added that the "world feels lighter" for him. The broadcaster continued: "And it's just the accumulation of a lot of lovely things happening, and I just decided now is the time. More to follow in terms of details and all the rest of it. And by the more to follow, I mean I'll tell my family first. "It's a very exciting time to be alive. I'm a very, very lucky man, and I think it's one of those beautiful moments where the world feels lighter." Boyne AC sprinter Ryan McMahon does club and county proud with podium place

Drogheda Independent Today at 05:30 Boyne AC's Ryan McMahon put in a brilliant performance at the County Men's National League 100m sprint in Tullamore, finishing in a fantastic third place. Up against a strong field, Ryan showed real speed and determination to earn a place on the podium, a great result and a proud moment for both him and his club. Members of Boyne AC were also in action at the All-Ireland Juvenile Track & Field Championships in Tullamore on Saturday. It was a scorching day, but the high temperatures didn't stop the athletes putting in some excellent performances. Riley Byrne ran a strong 200m heat, finishing in 25.32sec, and then went on to set a new personal best of 25 seconds dead in the semi-final. He earned his place in the U15 final and gave it everything, just missing out on a medal in what was a very competitive race. Hannele Raji placed sixth in the long jump with a best of 5.05m before bouncing back well in the 200m, running a personal best and just missing out on a place in the final by two hundredths of a second. Evan Gamble ran a big personal best in his 200m, knocking half a second off his previous time. This great step forward was well deserved as he has done some solid work this season. Ryan McMahon, fresh from his exploits for the Louth team, was back on the track for the 200m and came close to making the final eight. He ran hard in a tough heat and showed good form despite the conditions.

Cork boss Pat Ryan on his biggest bugbear ahead of All-Ireland final

Cork boss Pat Ryan has described as 'absolutely crazy' how managers cannot get messages to players to players during games. Since 2021 the maor foirne, or runner, is not allowed in Gaelic games after it was felt that too many management teams had overstepped the mark with their use of the role but several managers have called for its return and Ryan feels that it should be facilitated to some degree going forward. Ryan was speaking in the context of Cork's recent All-Ireland semi-final win over Dublin a a sold out Croke Park when he was unable to communicate with his players during the game. 'It's impossible,' he said. 'To be honest it's the biggest bugbear I have. You're putting in the best time you can, you want to make changes, you want to make things, and you just can't. I was shouting at Mark Coleman from 10 yards away from me. 'It was only a simple thing just to push up on a puckout and he just couldn't hear me. 'It's crazy that I think we're the only sport that you don't do it in. Maybe it was too far before, the cult of the maor foirne running onto the field all over the place and that side of it, but I think there should be a situation where you have something in place, some sort of mechanism where you can give instructions maybe two or three times a half, maybe in a game where you have a runner or something like that. 'I don't know, there's better fellas outside there than me come up with those ideas, but it's absolutely crazy that coaches can't adjust on that situation on that day. I'd say we're definitely the only sport that that have it, so I think it's amazing.'
