Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project: Valsad's Daman Ganga River bridge completed; NHSRCL says 16 out of 21 bridges ready
This newly completed bridge is the 16th of 21 river bridges planned in Gujarat and the fifth and final one in Valsad. In total, 25 river bridges are being constructed along the high-speed rail corridor.
Spanning 360 metres with nine full-span girders, the Daman Ganga bridge lies between the upcoming Boisar and Vapi bullet train stations, PTI quoted the release. Another bridge over the Darotha River, also located on this stretch, has already been finished.
The 56-kilometre stretch of the bullet train corridor in Valsad, which includes 4.3 km through the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli, runs from Zaroli to Vaghaldara village. This segment features the Vapi bullet train station, a 350-metre tunnel, five river bridges, and a prestressed concrete (PSC) bridge.
The other completed river bridges in Valsad include the Auranga (320 m), Par (320 m), Kolak (160 m), and Darotha (80 m).

The Daman Ganga River, which originates in the Sahyadri hills near Maharashtra's Nashik district, flows for around 131 km through Maharashtra, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, and Daman before merging with the Arabian Sea. Key industrial towns such as Vapi, Dadra, and Silvassa lie along its banks.
The Madhuban Dam on the Daman Ganga River is a key water resource project, supporting irrigation, water supply, and power generation for Gujarat as well as the Union Territories of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu.

Registrations rose 3.4% to 568,421 units in H1 2025, compared to 549,805 in the same period last year. "Retail sentiment is gradually improving. With a good monsoon, stable fuel prices, and positive signals from the broader economy, we expect traction to pick up during Navratri and Diwali," Shah added. Tractor sales remained muted, but most other segments are showing early signs of revival. Dealers across Gujarat are now gearing up for the festive stretch, hoping it brings the auto market firmly back into gear.

Madhabi Buch (File photo) Mumbai: Former Sebi chief Madhabi Puri Buch has come out strongly against those pointing fingers at the regulator in the Jane Street market manipulation case, indicating it was a regulatory failure due to which US-based algo trading major Jane Street thrived with its alleged illegal acts for years. On Tuesday, Puri Buch issued a statement saying it was in April 2024 (when she was at the helm) that Sebi had formed a team of officials from various departments and started looking into Jane Street's affairs. The statement by Puri Buch came on the day Jane Street told its employees that Sebi had "many erroneous or unsupported assertions" about its trading activity in the country and it would "defend itself against the accusations". The trading firm said it strongly rejected "the premise and substance of (Sebi's) order", and said the markets regulator was "fundamentally mistaken" about its trades, reports noted. Jane Street also said its trading activities were "unambiguously good for the health of financial markets".
