Ponguleti lays foundation stone for road construction works

Khammam: 'Developmentand welfare of the poor is the agenda of the government's governance,' said Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy. On Sunday, the minister laid foundation stones for several road construction works in Nelakondapalli mandal. He was accompanied by District Collector Anudeep Durisetty.
Foundation stone was laid for the construction of the BT road from Surdepalli to Bodulabanda at an estimated cost of Rs 2.5 crore; internal CC roads in Konaigudem SC Colony at a cost of Rs 21 lakhs; and the BT road from Mangapuram Thanda to Nachepalli Banapuram Road at a cost of Rs 4.5 crore.
Speaking on the occasion, Ponguleti said that the government under the leadership of CM Revanth Reddy will continue development and welfare in parallel. He said that the construction of Indiramma houses, which was done in Surdepalli village, is progressing rapidly and steps will be taken for more houses here.
The event was attended by State Warehousing Corporation Chairman Rayala Nageswara Rao, Nelakondapalli Market Committee Chairman Vennapusala Seetharamulu, PR SI Venkat Reddy, Paleru Constituency Special Officer Ramesh, Nelakondapalli Mandal Tahsildar Venkateshwarlu, MPDO Erraiah, officers of various departments, and public representatives.

The key equity benchmarks continued to trade with minor gains in morning trade, supported by mild buying interest and favourable domestic data. Investors are assessing the domestic economic data, the tariff development, and ongoing corporate earnings. Nifty hovered above the 25,100 level. PSU Bank shares witnessed buying demand for second consecutive trading session. At 10:25 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex advanced 85.72 points or 0.10% to 82,342.16. The Nifty 50 index added 31.10 points or 0.13% to 25,114.70. The broader market outperformed the frontline indices. The S&P BSE Mid-Cap index rose 0.25% and the S&P BSE Small-Cap index added 0.68%. The market breadth was strong. On the BSE, 2,498 shares rose and 1,101 shares fell. A total of 204 shares were unchanged. Economy: Indias retail inflation, measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI), cooled to a multi-year low of 2.10% in June 2025, thanks to a sharp dip in food prices. The data, released by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) on Monday, 14 July 2025, marks the lowest year-on-year inflation rate since January 2019. NEW DELHI: The body of the college student who set herself ablaze following alleged sexual harassment by a professor reached her village in Odisha's Balasore district on Tuesday. The student's body was cremated in the presence of her family and other villagers. Thousands of people thronged the crematorium ground to attend her cremation. Balasore MP Pratap Sarangi, district officials and others walked to the crematorium ground from the house of the student. The 20-year-old second-year B. Ed student of Fakir Mohan (Autonomous) College, Balasore had accused the Head of Education Department, Samira Kumar Sahu of sexually harassing her. She set herself on fire on Saturday on the college campus over alleged inaction against the professor and suffered 95 per cent burns. The woman was first admitted to the Balasore district hospital and then shifted to AIIMS Bhubaneswar for advanced treatment. Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday announced ex gratia of Rs 20 lakh for the family of the student. Majhi directed officers concerned to conduct a proper investigation into the incident so that all guilty are punished in accordance with the law, according to a statement issued by the Chief Minister's Office (CMO). Condemning the Odisha BJP government, eight opposition parties, led by the Congress, called an Odisha bandh on July 17 to protest the death of the student. State Congress president Bhakta Charan Das said the bandh is being supported by eight parties, including the Left. He claimed the incident, which happened at the Fakir Mohan (Autonomous) College in Balasore, showed that the state government has failed to protect women. "She brought petrol, and everyone watched silently. No one acted," he said, attacking the ruling BJP.

Markets news: The latest data from mutual funds shows a selective approach to the equity markets, and the buying and selling focusing on only a few stocks. Of the more than 4,000 companies that are listed on the BSE mutual funds had positions in about 1,200 stocks in June. However, large investments were concentrated on a handful of. Only 16 stocks experienced mutual fund inflows of between Rs 1,000-10,000 crores during the month. Meanwhile, 21 stocks witnessed inflows in the amount from Rs 500 crore to $1,000 crore. The remaining stock markets drew smaller investments between 1 crore to the amount of Rs 500 crore. On the flip part, nine companies reported the exodus of mutual funds that exceeded $1,000 crore. Another 16 stocks experienced trading between Rs 500 crore to Rs 1,000 crore, and the remainder--more than 400 stocks--experienced exits from mutual funds that ranged from one crore and 500 crore. One of the most significant acquisitions, Asian Paints stood out as mutual funds invested more than Rs 10,000 crore in an agreement that saw Reliance Industries divested its stake. In a similar way, Vishal Mega Mart attracted more than $785 crore in mutual fund investments, after its promoter disposed of shares through an agreement in block. Other notable purchases include Bajaj Finserv, Dixon Technologies, NTPC, Biocon, State Bank of India, Trent, Kaynes Technology, and Siemens Energy India, each receiving an inflow of between Rs 2,000 and the equivalent of Rs 4,750 crore. On the selling side, ICICI Bank topped the list of mutual fund outflows of $1653 crore. then Infosys as well as Reliance Industries, which saw sales of 1500 crore and 1,492 crore each. Tata Motors, Coal India, IndusInd Bank, and Bharti Airtel also witnessed mutual fund sales of more than 1,000 crore for each.
