Fantasy Baseball Weekend Preview: Lopsided matchups provide ample streaming opportunities

Diamondbacks vs. Rockies: The D-backs once again have one of the best offenses in baseball, which puts them in prime position to dominate a Rockies pitching staff that ranks last in baseball with a 5.73 ERA. With all three Colorado starters throwing from the right side, lefty slugger Pavin Smith (16%) is the most obvious man to add. Lourdes Gurriel (46%) and Gabriel Moreno (29%) are the other two Arizona hitters who deserve strong consideration.
Cubs vs. White Sox: The Cubs rank second in baseball in runs scored, and they should hold that lofty ranking when they face their rebuilding crosstown rivals this weekend. Unfortunately, the team's success means that recently promoted catching prospect Moisés Ballesteros (8%) is the only player to add in deeper formats. In 10-team leagues, Michael Busch (58%) is an easy streamer to add, especially with the White Sox set to use three right-handed starters. And those who rotate Dansby Swanson and Nico Hoerner between their bench and lineup should make sure that they are active this weekend.
Reds vs. Guardians: The Reds will benefit from working at their hitter-friendly home park this weekend, as well as by facing three Cleveland right-handers who either have limited skills or are off to a disappointing start. Managers should consider adding catcher Tyler Stephenson (34%) who would have been widely rostered if he didn't open the season on the IL. In 12-team leagues, Austin Hays (24%) and Gavin Lux (21%) are worth a look.
Tigers @ Blue Jays: Toronto's bullpen has been running on fumes in recent weeks, and their three weakest starters are on the schedule this weekend. All three hurlers throw from the right side, which makes four-position lefty Zach McKinstry (42%) a serviceable option. Youngster Colt Keith (20%) has shown notable signs of improvement during May.
Dodgers vs. Angels: The Dodgers should once against prove to be miles ahead of the Angels when they meet for a crosstown series this weekend. The Angels are planning to start lefties in two games, which gives Enrique Hernandez (8%) a good chance to hit a home run. Andy Pages (59%) should continue to gain momentum in 10-team leagues.
Padres vs. Mariners: This is a rare occasion where hitters will be recommended against a Mariners staff that is usually among the most successful in baseball. But this weekend Seattle will use three replacement starters for an injury ravaged rotation. Jake Cronenworth (33%) can be added in many leagues, and with multiple Seattle starters throwing from the right side, Gavin Sheets (16%) is also a good option.
Athletics @ Giants: The Athletics are likely to have less success when working away from their hitter-friendly home park, and they will also run into a solid trio of San Francisco starters. Managers should think twice before starting players not named Brent Rooker or Lawrence Butler.
Red Sox vs. Braves: Although a handful of Red Sox hitters are too good to be placed on the bench, it's worth noting that the team may not have their best success when facing Chris Sale and Spencer Schwellenbach in two of this weekend's games. Trevor Story should be benched in most leagues, and there is a case to take a second look at Wilyer Abreu and Kristian Campbell for the next three days.
Mets @ Yankees: Although the Mets might enjoy the homer-happy nature of Yankee Stadium, they will first need to make contact against two effective lefties and a decent right-hander. Brandon Nimmo should not be active during this series, and it is also a good weekend to bench any Mets other than Juan Soto, Francisco Lindor and Pete Alonso.
Shelby Miller, Diamondbacks, 27%: Thanks to his stellar start to the season (1.45 ERA, 1.02 WHIP) and injuries to Justin Martinez and A.J. Puk, Miller has emerged as the temporary saves favorite in Arizona. And this is a good time to be the D-backs closer, as they will spend the weekend facing the 7-36 Rockies. It would not be surprising to see Miller earn multiple saves.
Chandler Simpson, Rays, 27%: This one is too easy. Simpson became one of the fastest runners and best base stealers in MLB the moment the Rays called him up last month. He could swipe multiple bags this weekend, when Tampa faces a Marlins squad that has allowed 17 more steals than any other team. Jose Caballero (7%) is another easy Rays player to add if you're looking for steals.

Crow-Armstrong has spoken openly about inspiring others to approach life in the same way. He put those strong words into firm action this week. The excellent center fielder strolled over to a lemonade stand in Chicago, via Jomboy Media, and gave three boys an experience they will brag about for days on end. One will walk around with living proof of the lasting impact a ballplayer can have on a child. The young fans were trying to raise enough money so that one of them, who is already sporting short blonde hair, could get the signature blue-star haircut that Crow-Armstrong displayed in early 2025. The man they call PCA decided to help him out. He supplied him with the money needed to obtain the unique style, shook the kids' hands, took a picture and signed an autograph. He left the young entrepreneurs in complete awe. Crow-Armstrong's gesture deserves endless praise, but one also should not overlook their reactions. These children were so grateful for the opportunity to meet one of their idols that they asked him to sign a paper towel that was lying around on the stand. It was pure baseball fandom and childhood innocence at its best. A nearby adult, presumably a parent, perfectly summed up the heartwarming exchange. 'That's as good as it gets, guys.' Well done, Mr. Crow-Armstrong. Cubs' Pete Crow-Armstrong is making a huge difference on and off the field Considering the Sherman Oaks, California native has been exposed to two industries that many may describe as jaded, it is incredible to see him live with such passion and joy. It is clear his parents, one of whom played the mother in 1994's 'Little Big League,' imbued their son with a sense of self and infectious energy. He is now looking to do the same for the next generation. Thriving with the Cubs will enable Pete Crow-Armstrong to resonate with even more people. He owns a 5.7 WAR, second only to New York Yankees great Aaron Judge, and is batting .270 with 26 home runs, 25 doubles, 28 stolen bases, a .555 slugging percentage and .860 OPS. The defensive wizard is also in line to collect his first Gold Glove award, recording 16 defensive runs saved and 16 outs above average, per FanGraphs. The magnificent campaign is made more astounding by the fact that Crow-Armstrong has only a .305 on-base percentage. Obviously, the plate discipline could use some work, but his ability to post big numbers regardless accentuates his individuality even more. He follows his own path, and it is leading to glorious success. And there are many behind him, eager to heed Crow-Armstrong's advice and live life to the fullest. The Chicago Cubs need to add a starting pitcher to their roster before Thursday's trade deadline. Justin Steele is out for the season with an elbow injury, and Jameson Taillon has battled injuries, too. Chicago has been connected to a lot of different starting pitchers, but it's only landed Michael Soroka so far. Soroka isn't going to be enough for the Cubs to feel secure pushing for a World Series. They need to add more. ESPN's David Schoenfield recently suggested the Cubs could be a potential landing spot in a deal for Arizona Diamondbacks star pitcher Merrill Kelly. Kyle Schwarber will defer his Indiana University Hall of Fame selection because of attendance rule
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) — All-Star Game MVP Kyle Schwarber is deferring his selection to Indiana University's Athletics Hall of Fame to a future year because of a rule requiring all living inductees to attend the ceremony. Indiana's induction is set for Sept. 5, a day Schwarber's Philadelphia Phillies visit the Miami Marlins as they attempt to win their second straight NL East title. Schwarber was selected in his first year of eligibility. Indiana's athletic department announced the selections on Thursday. Schwarber was one of the school's biggest baseball stars, leading the Hoosiers to two Big Ten regular-season and tournament titles while ranking among career leaders in hits (238), home turns (40), runs (182) and slugging percentage (.607) while batting .341. He was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in 2014, made his major league debut the following June and helped the Cubs win the World Series in 2016. This season, the 32-year-old Schwarber ranks among the major league leaders with 37 home runs. He hit home runs on all three of his swings in the first All-Star Game swing-off to give the National League a victory over the American League. The three-time All-Star has 321 home runs and 738 RBIs in 11 seasons with the Cubs, Washington Nationals, Boston Red Sox and Phillies. Schwarber was the headliner of Indiana's seven-member Hall of Fame class. The other selections are Cody Zeller, who has spent the last 11 seasons playing in the NBA, All-American rower Meradith Dickensheets, 2008 NCAA wrestling champion Angel Escobedo, former football star Mel Groomes, five-time track and field All-American Glenn Terry and Peggy Martin, a pioneering three-sport star in field hockey, women's basketball and softball from 1969-72.
