ITV's new show Shark! Celebrity Infested Waters branded 'boring' and 'unwatchable' as viewers declare one 'annoying' star an 'attention seeker'
The new series, which coincides with 50th anniversary of Jaws, sees a bunch of famous faces, who are terrified of the sea, face their fears head on by taking a plunge surrounded by the scary predators.
The line-up included Rachel Riley, 39, Lucy Punch, 47, Dougie Poynter, 37, Ade Adepitan, 52, Sir Lenny Henry, 66, and Ross Noble, 48.
However it was Call The Midwife 's Helen George, 40, who rubbed viewers up the wrong way with her tearful and fearful reactions branded 'attention seeking' and 'annoying'.
Taking to X fans fumed: 'TV execs are now so bereft of ideas that they're literally feeing celebrities to sharks for our entertainment': 'This is pretty unwatchable because there's one celebrity on there who wants the entire programme to be about "me me me"'.

The BBC actress, who plays nurse Trixie in Call The Midwife, previously revealed she has a lifelong phobia of the ocean.
She told how she had only 'been up to her knees' in the water in the last 20 years after an incident when she was younger.
Helen previously explained: 'When I was very young I was at a swimming party. I remember going underwater, looking up and foam mats had been chucked where I was coming up. I couldn't get out.'
It comes after another clip showed the star shrieking as a stingray took aim at her nether regions in an unfortunate attack.
While she was submerged in the ocean off the Bahamas, a stingray took a keen interest in Helen.
The Sun reported the actress said during the encounter: 'Jesus Christ, it's coming right at my vagina! It's there.
'It gave me a tickle. I've never been tickled by a stingray before... it was actually quite pleasant.'
She added: 'Didn't Steve Irwin die of a stingray?'.

Helen was referring to the conservationist and TV star who died in 2006 and was affectionately known as The Crocodile Hunter.
Teasing what's to come, a ITV spokesperson said: 'The show will dare a group of ocean-phobic celebrities to confront their greatest fear – sharks.
'Throughout their adrenaline-fueled, challenge-heavy journey in the Bahamas – the shark capital of the world – these A-listers will push past their limits to come nose to nose with nature's 'villains.'
'Their firsthand experiences will provide immeasurable excitement and new perspective.
'They'll come to appreciate sharks' valuable place on the food chain and in our ecosystem, recognising that a world devoid of these notoriously terrifying creatures is downright frightening.
'Those taking part will be getting up close and personal with a number of different breeds of sharks throughout filming.'
Head of Factual Entertainment at Plimsoll Productions, Karen Plumb, said: 'The team at Plimsoll is uniquely positioned to pioneer this format that blends conservation with wildly entertaining pop culture.
'We're constantly looking for innovative approaches to wildlife storytelling and are certain that our fish-out-of-water spin – delivering 50 years after Jaws – will transform the world's perception of these critical predators before it's too late.'
Head of Entertainment Commissioning ITV, Katie Rawcliffe, said: 'We're super excited to be combining the work of Plimsoll - a Blue Chip natural history production company - with the expertise of ITV Entertainment.
'SHARK! Celebrity Infested Waters promises to be a once in a lifetime challenge for some of the bravest celebrities out there.'

BBC Scotland's first Gaelic TV producer Neil Fraser dies aged 86
Neil Fraser is best known for being BBC Scotland's first Gaelic language television producer. He has passed away aged 86, his family confirmed in a statement. Neil was born in Lochboisdale, South Uist, in 1938 and was brought up in Staffin on the Isle of Skye before moving to Glasgow in 1956. (Image: Supplied) He was educated at Glasgow University and worked briefly as a maths teacher, before joining the BBC as it was establishing its Gaelic department under Fred MacAulay. With the support of then-BBC director-general Alasdair Milne, Neil helped to give a voice to the Gaelic language on the national stage. As a television producer, his award-winning programmes included the Stone of Destiny drama The Pinch (1980), piping documentary The Glorious Effect (1980), Gaelic current affairs show Prospaig, and Gaelic comedy Tormod Air Telly. During his time with BBC Scotland, Neil worked as head of current affairs and head of Gaelic. In the latter role, he was instrumental in the consolidation of the Gaelic radio services into Radio Nan Gaidheal in 1985. He became head of BBC Radio Scotland in 1987 before leaving the broadcaster in 1992. (Image: Supplied) After leaving, Neil went on to author a seminal government-commissioned report making the case for a Gaelic language channel. He became chair of MG ALBA, a new body which was established in 2003 to promote and support Gaelic broadcasting and media, where he oversaw the establishment of the channel BBC Alba. Neil also led the television course at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig, the National Centre for Gaelic Language and Culture, where he trained generations of talent who went on to make many award-winning films and programmes. He was also committed to piping, both as a board member of the John McFayden Memorial Trust and the Silver Chanter competition. His family said in a statement: "Our father was part of a pivotal generation that fought to reverse the damaging neglect of his native Gaelic language. "He became an archetypal Glasgow Gael: Neither fully at home in the city, nor the croft, uncompromisingly proud of his culture and language and also witheringly critical of anything – or anyone! – that trivialised or undermined it. "He was fiercely intelligent, charming, complex and generous, attributes that he harnessed in his efforts to make broadcasting one of the pillars of the survival of the Gaelic language." Patsi Mackenzie, a writer and screenwriter known for works such as An t-Eilean and An Clo Mor, and a former student of Neil's, added: "As young novices in broadcasting, Neil always gave praise and encouragement when we tried to get things right – and a gentle, helpful steer when we so often got it wrong! "He was a true mentor, generous to a fault and always with a glint in his eye. "His charismatic presence will be forever missed."

EastEnders'Jamie Borthwick kept his job after using an ableist slur when he was on Strictly, but Masterchef judge John Torode was sacked over racism allegations. Jamie Borthwick's time on EastEnders has reportedly been brought into question amid the BBC's sacking of John Torode. It previously emerged that actor, who plays Jay Brown on the BBC soap, had used a disabled slur when he appeared on Strictly Come Dancing last year, and after it was revealed that Masterchef judge John Torode had been sacked from the broadcaster's culinary competition show for allegedly using the N-word twice, insiders have claimed that the "difference in treatment" of each of the stars has become a topic of concern, especially when considering the "very similar" nature of the complaints. A source told The Sun: "The BBC have tied themselves into knots with this - for them both stars appear to have used unacceptable and offensive language but only one has been sacked while another has kept his lucrative salary and got away with just a suspension. There doesn't appear to be any rhyme nor reason with how the BBC chooses to implement its own rules and people are questioning why." The insider also claimed that various disabled colleagues have been left with questions over the incident, and claimed that they don't feel taken "seriously" when it comes to ableist slurs, adding: "Disabled colleagues have been left wondering why incidents of ableist slurs seemingly aren't being taken as seriously as racist language and there are no clear answers coming from bosses.' The 30-year-old actor has since apologised for using the derogatory word to describe locals in Blackpool, where Strictly filmed their special ballroom towards the end of 2024. It's reported footage was made of Jamie using the word, which was then sent to one of his friends. After the allegations emerged, Jamie issued an apology, stating: "I want to apologise sincerely and wholeheartedly for the words I used in the video showing my reaction to making it through Blackpool week on Strictly. I am deeply sorry for any offence and upset my words and actions have caused. At the time, the soap star rounded off his statement by claiming that he "did not fully understand" the term he used, but still took full responsibility for his actions, as he said: "It is no excuse, but I did not fully understand the derogatory term I used and its meaning. That is on me completely. Now I am aware, I am deeply embarrassed to have used the term and directed it in the way I did. It was wrong." Last month, it was claimed that Jamie was trying to "right the wrongs" in his life but, according to an ex, it was "not clear" at that stage whether he would keep his EastEnders job. News of John's allegations emerged on Tuesday after production company Banijay said that an investigation into his co-star Gregg Wallace 's behaviour by firm Lewis Silkin had "substantiated an accusation of highly offensive racist language against" John, 59. John however said in a statement: "I have no recollection of what I'm accused of." It's now been suggested that John, who had co-hosted the cooking show since 2005, used the N-word twice. John is said to vehemently deny ever using the racial slur. Earlier this week John came forward as the person alleged to have used racist language, after the allegation was upheld in a report into John's colleague Gregg Wallace's behaviour. John said he had no memory of making the comment and denies it ever happened. Later, Richard Osman spoke out to claim the ex MasterChef host used the 'worst racial slur there is'. And now it's been reported Torode allegedly used the N-word twice. The Sun reports that he repeated lyrics, containing the N-word, from Kanye West 's song Gold Digger at an after-work gathering six or seven years ago. He's then said to have used the word again whilst speaking to a member of the MasterChef production team. John allegedly used the word a second time when speaking to a member of the production team, described as a "pal" who reportedly didn't take offence. According to the outlet, the person who raised the complaint on that occasion is said to have overheard the conversation. His friend reportedly thought John used the slur as an "example" and "apologised afterwards". The publication adds that it's been told that John vehemently denies ever using the N-word, whether that be in song lyrics or otherwise. A source said that he's "utterly devastated" and "just wants to clear his name" amid the scandal.
