Nelly blasts Kamala Harris for 'locking up black men' and having a white husband
The drama unfolded when the rapper hit back at accusations he was 'Pro-Trump' during a chat on Hot 97's Ebro In The Morning podcast saying his performance was not an indicator of his endorsement of any presidential candidate.
He said: 'See, this is what I'm saying. Where did you get pro-Donald? What you had was "respect for office.''
Nelly continued: 'And it's great how people spin narratives to things that I think best fit whatever they're against. You know what I'm saying? Instead of giving a brother the exact fundamental of what he did, what he said. Nobody's doing that anymore.'
As fans accused the star of being 'manipulative' and resorting to word salad to confuse his audience, Nelly jumped into The Shade Room's comments section to blast the prosecutor for 'locking up black men' as well as taking aim at her 'white husband,' Doug Emhoff
Nelly also slammed fans for 'dumping on black men married to black women' because Harris lost the election, as well as defending fellow African-American artist Snoop Dogg for also performing for Trump.
Nelly wrote: 'I'll put whatever up me and snoop do more in the community and have been doing for over 20 + years against any of you that are just on here talking trash and have no stats to back up what you mean to the community.
'From the black families that we employ to the black children that we help every day and all year through our nonprofits, whether we're sending kids to schools on scholarships to HBCU or helping young black boys in la 'gang central ' with his junior football programs which many players have went on to go to the NFL and live their dreams.
'And on top of that we are 'Black Men' married to beautiful Black women with black children... should be inspiring to most but that some of y'all have a problem with because the prosecutor who has probably locked up more black men that we've helped woman of color with the white husband and white kids.'
Nelly continued: '[Harris] Did not win the election... again I reiterate, I did not campaign for anyone. I do not tell people who to vote for. I respect and love our country from top to bottom good and bad… and I am very aware there's a lot of things in this country that we need to work on the right is too far right and the left is too far left.
'I'm a military baby with a grand uncle who is a Tuskegee airmen and red tail that was very prideful for his country I told you it's my respect for the office meaning any president that calls upon Nelly it would be a honor... nothing to do with money.
'Nothing to do with race but if you wanna make it about race, then let's goooooooooooooo I find it very interesting.'
Nelly added: 'That's so many of you would dump on the two black men that's married to black women that has black children because the '' woman of color with the white husband and white kids. Didn't win..!!'
Fans were baffled by the rappers tirade and did not hold back in giving him their opinions.
One person commented: 'Why so many shade at Kamala???? just say you performed, you f*** with trump.
'I respect you and all that you have done, but be please be clear, it's not about Kamala not winning, it's about what Donald Trump stands for. I respect the office. I do not respect the man that is in office at this present time.'
However, one supporter of the musician added: 'Nelly no matter what you do, as far as it makes you happy and loved , am solidly behind you . Period,'
In January the star responded to backlash over his decision to perform at the Liberty Ball which celebrated the inauguration of Trump.
The rapper, who along with Snoop Dogg, took part in the inaugural festivities, explained his reasons for accepting the invitation to right-wing journalist Officer Lew on X.
He wrote: 'I'm not doing this for money, I'm doing this 'cause it's an honor. I respect the office. It don't matter who in office.'
He compared himself to members of the military, writing: 'The same way our men and women, our brothers and sisters who protect this country have to go to war and have to put their life on the line for whoever in the office. So, if they can put they life on the line for whoever in office, I can damn sure perform for whoever in office.'
Lew then asked him: 'What do you say to the people that say "we're not giving you this backlash because of your political affiliation or because of your political choice, or whatever, we're giving you this backlash because you are propping up a white supremacist?"'
Nelly answered: 'I would ask them to show me where he's a white supremacist.'
Nelly then brought up components of the 1994 Crime Bill sponsored by then-Senator Joe Biden, confusing it with the 1986 Crime Bill signed by Ronald Reagan, which which called for a minimum mandatory sentence of five years without parole for anyone caught with five grams of crack cocaine.
The 1994 Crime Bill did fund the building of prisons to hold more people convicted of violent crimes and is blamed by many for the mass incarceration of members of the Black community.
sarcastically referring to a comment President Joe Biden made in an interview with Charlamagne tha God, Nelly said: 'Okay, I did get it. He did say "if you don't vote me, you're not black," right?'
Then Nelly ventured back into Trump's past saying: 'I'mma get to it. He did not rent to black people, what was in the 70s or 80s, is that what they said, and like, okay, is he renting to them now? So, nobody's allowed to change?'
In 1970, Trump and his father Fred were sued by the Justice Department for refusing to rent to people of color, but the case was settled when Trump Management promised to stop discriminating against potential renters.
The 1968 Fair Housing Act makes it illegal to refuse to rent or sell housing based on race, color, religion, sex (including gender identity and sexual orientation), disability, familial status, or national origin.
Nelly continued: 'See, here's the thing, we can talk about pasts, but we never want to talk about our pasts. If our pasts get brought up, in our community for a lot of what of our men did, we always call it rehab... these young brothers we been through a lot.
'I know I've been through a lot. If my past was what was going to prevent me from winning today, I wouldn't be here.'
Referring to Trump the rapper said: 'I'm not saying that he aint got some f***ed up ways, that's not what I'm saying at all, that's why I'm not telling you who to vote for. But what I'm saying is that he's the president of the United States. He's not the candidate for the United States, He's the president. He won.'
Nelly's comments drew praise from people of all backgrounds.
One person wrote: 'Nelly is a class act. He's always seen through the garbage.'
Another added: 'Key words here for NELLY. "I respect the Office." Not about the person. This is right is no many ways.'
A third said: 'As an African American that has supported Trump since 2016 I can relate to what Nelly is saying!'

Ellen DeGeneres supports Rosie O'Donnell after Donald Trump threatens to revoke her citizenship
Ellen DeGeneres showed her support for Rosie O'Donnell, whose U.S. citizenship was put under threat. On Saturday, President Donald Trump wrote on Truth Social: 'Because of the fact that Rosie O'Donnell is not in the best interests of our great country, I am giving serious consideration to taking away her citizenship. She is a threat to humanity, and should remain in the wonderful country of Ireland, if they want her. God bless America!' On Sunday, Ellen shared the president's post and gave a shout-out to the 63-year-old comedian: 'Good for you @rosie.' Ironically, Ellen and Rosie have never shared more in common, being former TV titans who both left the U.S. following Trump's re-election last November. The show of support happened months after Rosie accused Ellen of never saying 'anything political in her life'. Rosie told Us Weekly: 'I've never really known Ellen to say anything political in her life, so I was surprised to read that she left because of President Trump. Like, that shocked me, actually. I've been a political person my whole life, not better or worse, it's just a different way to be in the world. I was very clear about the reason why I was leaving.' 'It's not like we're tenaciously opposed to each other. We're just very different people. We have had some stuff in the past that we never resolved. And not in any way as, as partners or lovers or anything like that, just as friends and comedians, but I wish her the best. I seriously do.' Reaction: Ellen shared the president's post and gave a shout-out to the comedian Rosie's 'past' comment was referring to when Ellen told Larry King that she didn't know Rosie and was not her friend, which deeply upset her because they were close in the nineties. 'Ellen wrote in a text, "I'm really sorry and I don't remember that,"' Rosie said in 2023, adding: 'It would never occur to me to say "I don't know her" about somebody whose babies I held when they were born. It wouldn't be in my lexicon of choices to ever say. When she was in a perplexing situation and people were saying things about her, I said, "Let me stand next to you and say that I'm Lebanese, too". When it was a downward media time for me, she didn't do anything.' Ellen is reportedly 'never coming back' to the States after moving to a farmhouse in the Cotswolds, England where she and her wife Portia de Rossi are raising chickens and goats. Career end: Ellen notoriously got 'kicked out of show business for being mean' after her former self-titled daytime talk show ended following 19 seasons after being hit with racism, workplace bullying, and sexual harassment claims in 2022 Meanwhile, Rosie and her child Dakota 'Clay' O'Donnell are getting used to life in Dublin, Ireland and she's 'in the process' of getting Irish citizenship. In response to Donald's latest diss, Rosie shared four posts on Saturday. She said: 'Hey Donald, you're rattled again? 18 years later and I still live rent-free in that collapsing brain of yours. 'You are everything that is wrong with America, and I'm everything you hate about what's still right with it. You want to revoke my citizenship? Go ahead and try, King Joffrey with a tangerine spray tan. I'm not yours to silence. I never was.' Reaction: In response to Trump's latest diss, Rosie spoke out on Instagram on Saturday Rosie also called Trump a 'mentally ill, untreated criminal' and 'a sexual-abusing liar out to harm our nation to serve himself'. She continued: 'This is why I moved to Ireland. 'He is a dangerous old soulless man with dementia who lacks empathy, compassion, and basic humanity. 'I stand in direct opposition all he represents - so do millions of others. [Are you going to] deport all who stand against [your] evil tendencies? [You're] a bad joke who can't form a coherent sentence.'

The British singer-songwriter, 34, was open-mouthed with delight as she watched the action unfold at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, near New York. Fist bumping with happiness, Rita cut a casually stylish figure in a black and pink silk scarf, which she accessorised with a pair of gold hoop earrings and a necklace. The star kept her eyes protected as she watched the action unfold with a pair of black sunglasses, opting to wear her long hair down for the event. She was described as the team's human lucky charm by her photographer friend Rosie Matheson, who shared the star's celebrations on Instagram. The British singer-songwriter, 34, was open-mouthed with delight as she watched the action unfold at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey However, they looked confused when the president failed to leave the podium during their celebrations, with Cole Palmer appearing to ask, 'What is he doing?' The singer appeared to enjoy riding on the public transport around the New York City borough. For her outing she stepped out in a white sheer long-sleeved top which she layered over a matching bralette.
