A SWAT team descended on a quiet Utah neighbourhood after a man wearing a bomb vest allegedly told cops he shot his wife dead.
A 45-year-old unidentified man opened fire on authorities in Hyrum, a little more than an hour from Salt Lake City - around 7.15am Sunday.

Police then returned fire as the situation quickly turned into a stand-off.
Authorities also said neighborhoods were being evacuated.
The emergency response began when a man called police and said he had killed his wife.
Cache County Sheriff Chad Jensen said deputies arrived at the home around 5am.
The 45-year-old then allegedly opened fire on the officers, who took cover and urgently called in for a SWAT team.
The suspect is accused of then firing on the back-up when it arrived.
Negotiators arrived on the scene and were able to make contact with the man.
He later sent photos of himself wearing a bomb vest and explosives inside the house.
Authorities say no contact has been made for several hours - and the situation is ongoing.

Bodycam footage shows officers calling into the house from the yard, and then breaking to door down when they received no response. A tiny baby wrapped in blankets can be seen lying in the bed alongside its mother's body. An officer puts the child in a stroller before medics take over and deliver life-saving care. Phoenix Police said: 'Inside the home, they discovered the mother had passed away and her baby was still alive, severely dehydrated and clinging to life. 'The baby was taken to the hospital in critical condition." Investigators described the infant as "visibly emaciated". Cops added: "We are happy to report the infant's condition has improved greatly, and they're expected to survive.' Officers told Arizona Family they had peered through the window and seen a woman who was not moving inside the home. Phoenix Police spokesperson Sgt. Brian Bower said: 'The mother had passed away while the child was still on the bed still curled up where the mother had left them. The miracle rescue in Phoenix follows a horrific discovery in Madrid, Spain of a newborn who had been decapitated - prompting a manhunt. The baby girl was born alive - and was just five days old when she was brutally killed, doctors confirmed. Her tragic remains were found in several plastic bags in a recycling centre in Madrid, Spain. A repulsed worker made the harrowing discovery at a garbage plant in Loeches. The horror crime is being investigated by Spanish police who have appealed for anyone with information to come forward. The crime dates back to December 12, 2024 - and tests have now revealed the terrible sequence of events. The girl was born alive and was murdered, almost certainly with a knife, reports say.

It became a favourite of the princess after it was named in her honour. Shortly before her death in 1997 she had sent a touching letter to the café's owner which said: 'I wanted to write personally, to thank you so very much for the beautiful flowers you sent for my birthday.' Customers were also found to be smoking shisha in the basement during an enforcement visit in May with police and trading officers. They seized 45 unlabelled tubs of shisha tobacco. Lawyers for the café's owners said in a letter to the council: 'Immediately upon becoming aware of the reported issues, our client undertook swift and decisive action by evicting the tenant responsible for the unauthorised activities.' The café has now suggested suspending its license for three months. This is to ensure that "right-to-work" immigration checks are carried out on all staff members.

Kirillov, who previously made headlines for being embroiled in a political scandal involving a female escort and a close Putin oligarch, currently lives outside Russia. The political controversy in question was linked to Belarusian escort Anastasia Vashukevich, 35, and Russian energy tycoon Oleg Deripaska. It came to light after Vashukevich claimed to have evidence that Deripaska and Russia's deputy prime minister were part of a Kremlin conspiracy to skew the 2016 US presidential election in favour of Donald Trump. Vashukevich revealed on Instagram that she had been on Deripaska's yacht in 2016 alongside the deputy prime minister Sergei Prikhodko when a secret meeting was held concerning the plot. But both Deripaska and Prikhodko denied wrongdoing. Following her claims Vashukevich, who known online as Nastya Rybka, was arrested. At the time of her detention she was in Thailand, where she had been running a bizarre four-day 'sex training' class alongside none other than Kirillov. As part of the "sex seminars" - which participants reportedly paid £1,000 to take part in - the pair claimed they could teach people how to make their partners climax. Two men have already been slapped with 15‑day jail terms for hooliganism following the reports, and a third suspect was remanded in custody in connection with the case against Kirillov. Twisted Kirillov, a Belarusian, told Moskva‑24 from an undisclosed location that he was not fazed by the allegations. He said: "If we lived in America or Germany, God forbid, then it could result in serious consequences. "Thankfully, we are in Russia." Billionaire Deripaska, was once estimated to be Russia's wealthiest man by Forbes, became notorious in the US for his alleged ties to political consultant Paul Manafort. Manafort was convicted of tax fraud, bank fraud and failure to report foreign bank accounts. These convictions stemmed from an investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 United States elections. Deripaska was also previously reported to be tyrant Putin's "favourite" industrialist. And the low-profile oligarch also once hosted Lord Peter Mandelson, now the British Ambassador to the US, on his private yacht in Corfu.
