'Terrorists involved in Pahalgam attack were eliminated in Operation Mahadev: Amit Shah

New Delhi, July 29 (UNI) Continuing the discussion on the second day of the debate on Operation Sindoor in Lok Sabha, Union Home Minister Amit Shah today informed the Lok Sabha that all three terrorists involved in the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack were killed yesterday in a joint security operation. Referring to the multi-agency operation carried out by Indian security forces, Shah said, 'Modi ji, through Operation Sindoor, ensured that the masterminds of the Pahalgam attack were eliminated. And yesterday, in Operation Mahadev, the terrorists directly involved in the attack were also eliminated.' Aggressively rebutting the charges made by the Opposition leader, Shah laid out the details of the Operation Mahadev which was jointly conducted by the Indian Army, CRPF, and Jammu & Kashmir Police. The operation led to the elimination of Suleman alias Faisal Jatt, Hamza Afghani, and Jibran—all affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and who were directly responsible for the attack in Baisaran Valley, Pahalgam, which killed 26 civilians, including one Nepali citizen. 'Suleman was an A-category commander of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), involved in multiple terror attacks including those in Pahalgam, Hamle, and Gagan Top. Our intelligence agencies have solid evidence of his involvement,' Shah stated. He added that Hamza Afghani and Jibran were also high-ranking and wanted LeT operatives. Launching a scathing attack on senior Congress leader and former Home Minister P Chidambaram for questioning the origin of the slain terrorists, Shah said, 'Yesterday, Chidambaram ji asked what proof we have that these terrorists came from Pakistan. What is he trying to prove? Whom is he trying to protect?' He accused the Congress party of undermining India's security efforts and attempting to cast doubts about successful counter-terror operations. 'It is extremely unfortunate that a former Home Minister is questioning such evidence. By doing so, the Congress leader is effectively giving a clean chit to Pakistan,' Shah added. Responding to Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi's claim that no one from the government visited Pahalgam following the attack, Shah said 'After the April 22 terror attack, I left for Srinagar the same day to oversee the security situation and ensure that the terrorists could not escape. Modi ji held Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) meetings on April 23 and April 30." He further hit out at the Congress party for its historical handling of India's strategic interests, calling the Indus Waters Treaty a 'major blunder,' and highlighting that Prime Minister Modi had since taken decisive steps by suspending the treaty. The Home Minister strongly defended India's Foreign Minister statement in the Lok Sabha yesterday and expressed serious concern over the lack of trust in country's constitutional authority and questioned the Opposition's stance on foreign affairs. 'I have an objection to one particular point — that a person who has taken the oath as the Foreign Minister of India is making a statement here, and yet there is no trust in him. Instead, there seems to be trust in someone from another country," Shah said. He further added, 'I can understand the importance of a foreigner in their party, but that doesn't mean they can bring their party's agenda and impose it on this House. If you can't trust India's Foreign Minister — someone who has taken the oath and is speaking here — then that is truly unfortunate. He is accountable to this House and to the nation. That is why, Speaker Sir, the Congress is sitting in the Opposition and will remain there for the next 20 years.' UNI RBE AAB

Feel proud to be an Indian: Daughter of man gunned down by Pahalgam terrorists

Kochi: Paying thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, Aarti, who saw her 68-year-old father Ramachandran being gunned down by a terrorist in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam on April 22, said she was very proud to hear that the three terrorists who took part in the massacre of 26 people, have been killed by the Indian security forces. 'I heard the news that the three terrorists who took part in the Pahalgam massacre have been eliminated and I feel proud to be an Indian,' said Aarti. 'Even though this is not going to bring back my father, I feel this shows the real commitment of our leaders and the security forces. And I feel really proud of being an Indian,' added Aarti. In reply to a question Aarti said if she is called by the authorities, since she is a witness to the episode, 'I will go and tell them everything.' A former Non-Resident Indian who returned from the Middle East five years ago, Aarti's father Ramachandran was a staunch BJP supporter. He had unsuccessfully contested local body polls and was among those shortlisted as a potential BJP candidate for civic elections to be held later this year. Aarti, a mother of twin boys, was often seen breaking down on TV while recounting the horrifying moments when her father was shot dead by a terrorist, in full view of her two children. She, along with her parents, was holidaying in Pahalgam, Kashmir, when Ramachandran was gunned down by the terrorists. It must be recalled that Aarti had said then that the terrorist had put something on her head, following which her sons had cried out aloud. According to her, maybe hearing the cries of the small boys, the terrorist walked away without harming them. The Pahalgam terror attack saw 25 Indian nationals and one Nepali citizen being shot dead by the terrorists.

Face-Off In Lok Sabha As Priyanka Gandhi Reads Out Pahalgam Victim Names

New Delhi: The Treasury and Opposition benches faced off in parliament this afternoon as Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra read out the names of the 25 Indians murdered in cold blood by terrorists in Pahalgam. The April 22 Pahalgam massacre had seen the killing of 26 civilians -- including 25 Indians and one Nepali tourist -- at the scenic Baisaran Valley. "I want to read out the names of 25 Indians so that every MP sitting here realises that even they were humans like us and not pawns of political powers. Even they were sons of this country. We are all answerable to their families. They deserve to know the truth," said Ms Gandhi, trying to corner the government during the special debate on Operation Sindoor. As she read out the first name, the treasury benches shouted: "Hindu", seeking to highlight that the killings were carried out based on their religion. "Bharatiya," replied Ms Gandhi, asserting they were Indians first. This soon set off a face-off between the treasury and opposition benches as loud shouts of "Hindu" and "Indian" filled the Lok Sabha after every name that Ms Gandhi read out.
