Pixelvest fined RM3mil, director jailed for unlicensed capital market activities
In a statement today, Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) said Pixelvest, represented by Ang, pleaded guilty to one charge under section 58(1) of the Capital Markets and Services Act 2007 (CMSA) for carrying out a business in fund management without a licence.
Ang also pleaded guilty to one charge under section 58(1) of the CMSA in his capacity as Pixelvest director, with the sentence to run from the date of his Jan 10 2024 arrest.
On July 28, 2025, Ang pleaded guilty to eight charges of receiving proceeds from unlawful activity under section 4(1)(b) of the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001 (AMLATFPUAA) in the Sessions Court.
He was sentenced to three years' imprisonment for each offence from the date of arrest with jail terms for all eight charges running concurrently.
The offences took place in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor between December 2020 and January 2023.
Ang was arrested and charged by the SC on Jan 10, 2024 for the offences under the AMLATFPUAA, and thereafter on Feb 26, 2024 for the CMSA offence. Pixelvest was charged on May 10, 2024.
Both had claimed trial to all the charges initially.
Fund management is a regulated activity. Any person carrying on a fund management business requires a licence from the SC under the CMSA.
The SC views unlicensed activities seriously and remains committed to investor protection by taking enforcement actions against those who contravene the law. - Bernama

He was charged with committing the offences when the victim was 12 at a house in Kampung Tanah Merah, Krubong, between November 2022 and July 2023, Harian Metro reported. He was altogether sentenced to 166 years in jail, including 22 years on each rape charge, and nine strokes of the rotan for the offences. Judge Rohatul Akmar Abdullah ordered the prison sentences to run concurrently from the date of his arrest on Aug 18, 2023, but for the whipping to be administered consecutively. Rohatul also ordered him to undergo mandatory counselling and to be placed under police supervision for three years after his release from prison. On July 7, the sessions court sentenced the same man to 15 years in prison and six strokes of the rotan on four charges of rape and one of sexual assault against another niece, the younger sister of the victim in today's case.

Husband and wife among 3 fined for books related to deviant teachings
TEMERLOH: Three people including a couple were fined RM3,000 each at the Syariah Lower Court here today after pleading guilty to possessing books and documents related to the teachings of The Ahmadi Religion of Peace and Light. Muhammad Firdaus Yaacob, 35, and his wife Noor Zaza Atiera Zahanuddin, 26, pleaded guilty after the charge was read to them in front of judge Sarah Fawzia Ahmad Fuzi. The duo were separately charged for possessing religious books and documents containing 'The Ahmadi Religion of Peace and Light' teachings which iscontrary to the practices of Ahli Sunnah Wal Jamaah. They had allegedly committed the offence at a house at Taman Jaya, Temerloh about 8.45am on June 4 this year. They faced charges under Section 18 of the Syariah Criminal Procedure Enactment 2013 which carries up to two years in prison or a RM3,000 fine, or both. Meanwhile, assistant environmental health officer Mohd Fikhrillah Abdul Rahman, 37, was fined RM6,000 after he pleaded guilty for possessing reading materials related to the deviant The Ahmadi Religion of Peace and Light and Syiah teachings. He had allegedly committed the offence at a government quarters in Temerloh about 7pm on June 12 this year. Syariah senior deputy public prosecutor Halipah Abdul Manaf along with deputy public prosecutor Busu Firdaus Abu Bakar handled the prosecution, while both the accused were not represented. The trio paid the fines. Early this year, the Muzakarah Committee of the National Council for Islamic Religious Affairs Malaysia declared that the teachings of The Ahmadi Religion of Peace and Light are deviant and contradict the principles of Islam, and Syariah law.
