'Paranthu Po' follows the story of Anbu, an energetic 8-year-old boy living in a cramped Chennai apartment with his overworked parents, Gokul played by Shiva and Glory portrayed by Grace Antony. As they are struggling to balance EMIs and parenting, the couple often leaves Anbu alone with his toys and online classes. As always, Ram covers heavy topics, but this time he blends them with humor. The hills and trees feel like characters themselves. Grace, Shiva, and the kid Anbu deliver fabulous performances.'
Music, visuals, and performances shine
The film's music which is composed by Santhosh Dhayanidhi with background score by Yuvan Shankar Raja, has been praised for enhancing the emotional beats of the story. Cinematographer NK Ekambaram and editor Mathi VS bring a defining quality to the visuals, capturing the lush landscapes of Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
A new side of Shiva
Known for his comedic timing in 'Tamizh Padam,' Shiva's performance as a guilt-ridden but loving father has been described as his 'best so far' by early reviewers. His chemistry with Mithul Ryan, who plays Anbu, anchors the film's emotional core.
What's next?
Following its theatrical release, 'Paranthu Po' is expected to stream on JioHotstar, with satellite rights secured by Vijay TV and Colors Tamil. The film had its international premiere earlier this year at the International Film Festival Rotterdam under the Limelight section.

Dipika Chikhlia On Arun Govil Playing Dasharatha In Ranbir Kapoor's Ramayana: 'Out Of Context'

Last Updated: Previously, in another interview, Dipika also argued that people should no longer make films on the Hindu mythological epic. It is no secret that Arun Govil, who portrayed the role of Ram in Ramanand Sagar's Ramayana, will now be seen playing the role of Dashrath in the Nitesh Tiwari directorial of the Hindu mythological epic. And while everyone is impressed with the first look of Ranbir Kapoor's Ramayana, Dipika Chikhlia feels that Arun Govil's casting as Dasharath might look a little 'out of context". In a recent interview with the Times of India, Dipika reacted to Arun Govil playing the role of Dashrath and said, 'I have seen him as Ram, and I've seen myself as Sita. For me to see him as Dasarath is really a little out of context." 'I mean, if you played Ram, then you are Ram," the actress added. Previously, in another interview, Dipika also argued that people should no longer make films on the Hindu mythological epic. The actress-turned-politician shared that in an attempt to bring something new, makers of the Ramayana end up distorting the Hindu epic. 'One should not tamper around with religious texts. I don't think one should be doing it and just leave it aside. Just don't do this. There are so many stories that you can talk about besides Ramayan. Discuss many freedom fighters. There's so much that one can talk about; unsung heroes who were valiant in history for freedom. Why only Ramayan?" she told India Today. Meanwhile, the teaser of Ramayana was recently released, which has only raised everyone's excitement for the film. It starts from the roots – the trinity of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva who rule the world. With striking animation, the video then introduces characters from the Ramayana – Lord Rama, played by Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Yash as Ravana. Ramayana will be released worldwide: Part 1 on Diwali 2026 and Part 2 on Diwali 2027. First Published:

Mahesh Babu's relative, hit ‘90s Bollywood actress, once worked at a beauty salon

Once a familiar face on the big screen during the 1990s, actress Shilpa Shirodkar stepped away from the limelight in the early 2000s. Her life took an entirely different path when she decided to move overseas and begin anew. After enjoying fame through films such as Hum, Aankhen, Khuda Gawah, and Gopi Kishan, Shilpa transitioned into everyday life far removed from the glitter of Bollywood. A Bold Shift to Simplicity Shirodkar relocated to New Zealand, where she took up an unconventional route by enrolling in a hairdressing course . The shift was not just about changing careers but about reinventing herself as a person. She chose to pursue a practical skill and worked briefly in a beauty salon, distancing herself from the glamour she had once been part of. In a candid conversation with actress Gauahar Khan, Shilpa opened up about the motivations behind her decisions. Her desire to stay active and productive was what initially drew her toward hairdressing. The former actress was not hesitant to shed her celebrity image and embrace a simple profession, proving her grounded nature. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Remember Him? Sit Down Before You See What He Looks Like Now 33 Bridges Undo Balancing Marriage, Career, and Identity During her time abroad, Shilpa had to manage a new marriage along with a new career. Her husband worked on weekdays while she found herself working over the weekends. The demanding schedule left little time for the couple to spend together. Shilpa chose to prioritize her relationship and stepped away from her salon job to nurture her marriage. However, idleness wasn't something she was comfortable with. Eager to continue working in some form, she asked her husband to help her create a resume. Without hiding any part of her background, Shilpa insisted on keeping her CV honest. Despite not failing her SSC (Secondary School Certificate), she was confident enough to include that, along with her film work. She wanted to see if the world outside showbiz had a space for someone with unconventional qualifications. To her astonishment, the decision paid off—after applying to a few jobs just for fun, she returned home with two job offers in a single day. Revisiting the Past with Farah Khan Recently, Shirodkar made a cheerful appearance in director Farah Khan's YouTube vlog. The duo reminisced about old times, and Shilpa playfully recalled an incident involving the famous Chhaiya Chhaiya song from the film Dil Se. She jokingly reminded Farah that she had once remarked about Shilpa's weight being a reason for not casting her—a moment both found amusing. Farah, laughing along, acknowledged the past with a hint of regret and lightheartedly promised Shilpa a spot in a hypothetical sequel if it ever came to life. Beyond the Screen Though Shilpa made a brief return to television through shows like Ek Mutthi Aasman and Savitri Devi College & Hospital, her journey remains an inspiring example of adaptability and resilience. She demonstrated that life after fame doesn't have to be a downfall — it can be a new beginning. Her sister Namrata Shirodkar , also a former actress, is now married to Tollywood superstar Mahesh Babu , further anchoring the family in both the Hindi and Telugu entertainment industries.
