Ederson describes Manchester City exit rumours as ‘fake news'

Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson has dismissed speculation he could leave the club as 'fake news'.
The Brazilian has one year remaining on his contract at the Etihad Stadium and has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia.
The 31-year-old has spent the past eight years at City and helped the club win 18 trophies, including six Premier League titles and the Champions League.
'My future is here,' Ederson said. 'Some friends send me lots of news, but 99% is fake news.
'I understand you guys, you need the news, to put a 'like' on social media but there's a lot of fake news around my name.
'My head is here. It stays with City. It means everything to go back to the Premier League and to try to win the Champions League as well.
My mind is staying in the club.' Ederson's comments come after number two keeper Stefan Ortega, who also has just one year remaining, refused to discuss his future when asked during City's Club World Cup campaign earlier this week.
The 32-year-old German has largely remained in Ederson's shadow during his three years at the club.
'It's quite early for that question,' Ortega told media in the United States. 'I can't say anything about that, it's too early.' City endured a frustrating 2024-25 season, failing to defend their league title after four successive triumphs and exiting the Champions League before the last 16.
In response the club have been overseeing a squad overhaul and it is not yet clear whether either goalkeeper is part of the long-term plans or if any contract negotiations are under way.
Asked specifically about Ederson at his press conference to preview Thursday's game against Juventus in Orlando, manager Pep Guardiola said he did not know whether the Brazilian would stay beyond next season.
He said: 'I don't know, but I am so pleased with what I am seeing in the training sessions and he is with us.
'He has had a spectacular decade with us and his contribution has been massive in many aspects.'

He has scored 99 goals in 111 appearances for Al Nassr and netted 35 last season to win the SPL's golden boot award for top scorer. Ronaldo has scored 938 goals for club and country in his career, needing 62 to reach the four-figure mark. Al Nassr are currently without a manager after parting company with Stefano Pioli on Wednesday. Former AC Milan and Inter boss Pioli, who was appointed in September, led Al Nassr to a third-placed finish in the SPL last season, 13 points behind champions Al Ittihad.

Myles Lewis-Skelly signs new long-term deal with Arsenal
PA Media/dpa London Myles Lewis-Skelly has signed a new Arsenal contract on the back of a breakthrough campaign last season. Lewis-Skelly, 18, made 39 appearances for the Gunners last term to establish himself as Mikel Arteta's first-choice left-back. He also earned his first three England caps, becoming the youngest England player to score on his debut in a 2-0 World Cup qualifying win over Albania in March. The teenager has now been rewarded with a new deal, which the PA news agency understands runs for five years. Lewis-Skelly's previous deal was due to expire at the end of next term, and there had been speculation that some of Europe's leading clubs were ready to pounce if Arsenal could not agree fresh terms. However, the academy graduate said he was only interested in staying with the Gunners. 'I'm so proud and happy,' he said on the club website. 'I know those words are simple, but I think they sum up how I feel signing for this club. I'm a fan and it's like a dream come true. 'I've embodied the values of Hale End and come through. I've still got a lot of years ahead of me, so if I can keep staying humble and being a good person, that's the most important thing to me. 'I know I've taken a lot of experience from the games about the positive moments, the mistakes that I've made. I'm definitely more ready now for the next season. I just want to keep learning and keep improving. 'I want a legacy. I want to win everything there is to win in the game. I want to win trophies on the biggest stages whilst being a person that's always learning and stays grounded, which is so important.' He is the second Arsenal player to agree to a new contract this summer following defensive colleague Gabriel.

Fleming amazed to hear stolen Wimbledon medals were recovered
PAMedia/DPA London Peter Fleming thought the Wimbledon medals he won during a famous doubles partnership with John McEnroe were lost forever when they were stolen in a robbery at his home. But months later the American was astonished to discover they had been found by a mudlarker on the banks of the Thames in tennis' own true crime story. The medals form part of a new exhibition, Secrets of the Thames, at London Museum Docklands, which features objects found through mudlarking - the historic practice of scouring the foreshore at low tide for artefacts. Fleming, who won four Wimbledon men's doubles titles with McEnroe in the 1970s and 80s and three US Open crowns, told the unusual tale to the PA news agency. 'I had just moved into a new flat in Wimbledon and for some reason I thought I didn't need to double lock my door because it was a secure building so I just pulled it shut and went out to play golf,' said the 70-year-old, a well-known face as a TV pundit. 'I came back about six hours later and my place had been ransacked. 'They stole a bunch of stuff. It's a horrible feeling when you get burgled, you feel like you've been violated or something. 'I had nine Wimbledon medals. You get to the semi-finals and they give you a medal: bronze, silver or gold. 'Apparently the guys who stole my stuff just drove down Putney High Street and anything that had a name on it they threw in the river. 'Six months later, somebody contacts me somehow, they first contacted the club I think. A couple of the medals were in perfect condition, a couple of them were all green. 'It was just such a freak occurrence. I thought they were gone. It was a real surprise to hear somebody say, 'we've got your medals'.' Mudlarks need a permit to search the banks of the Thames, and a condition of the permit is that all objects of historical interest must be reported to London Museum. 'The mudlark in question who found the medals, he was used to coming in and reporting his finds to us,' said museum curator Kate Sumnall. 'It's written on the medals what they are so he brought them in and said, 'I've just found this group of medals all together on the same stretch of the foreshore, what do we do next?''
