Man busted for 'having sex with a dead body' on a train
Felix Rojas, 44, was arrested on Sunday more than two weeks after the horrifying incident on the R train.
Rojas is accused of entering the train at the Whitehall Street-South Ferry station on April 9 around 11pm and riding for roughly 45 minutes before spotting an unconscious man inside, said the New York Police Department.
After going through the man's pockets, Rojas allegedly had sex with the corpse, according to an internal NYPD document obtained by The New York Times.
Rojas fled the train after the incident, all of which was captured on CCTV footage.
The victim had boarded the train around 8pm the same day and died of natural causes, a law enforcement official told the newspaper.
Cops released photos of the suspect showing him wearing a dark jacket over a yellow hoodie and a Los Angeles Dodgers hat, and engaged in a manhunt.
Rojas, of Brooklyn, who was taken into custody at 9.20pm on Sunday. A source told the New York Post that he turned himself in.
Rojas has been charged with first-degree rape. He did not have a criminal history and was not in the state registry for sex offenders, public records show. He was expected to be arraigned on Monday. More Trending
The victim has been identified as Jorge Gonzalez, 37, the Post reported. His estranged wife reportedly said he struggled with cirrhosis and alcohol consumption.
Rojas' former neighbor, Angie Sofikitis, 77, said he and his family with three children attended church and that he lived at and did maintenance at the building next door to her home. She also told The Times that he had moved out about a year ago.
It is the latest concerning incident on the city's subway system, which has continued to see violence and leave some New Yorkers fearing for their safety despite NYPD finding that crime rates reached a record low in the first three months of 2025.
In December, a woman was burned alive on an F train car by a 33-year-old migrant from Guatemala.

Flimsy fence protects air base set for Britain's new nuclear-armed jets
The flimsy barrier is 300 metres from the runway at RAF Marham, Norfolk. Our revelation comes just weeks after protesters were arrested for causing £7million of damage to aircraft at RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire An airbase set to house the RAF's nuclear-armed jets is protected by a five-foot wooden fence. The flimsy barrier is 300 metres from the runway at RAF Marham, Norfolk. Our revelation comes just weeks after protesters were arrested for causing £7million of damage to aircraft at RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire. The fence at RAF Marham can be accessed by five gaps in a hedge in a farmer's field. We visited the spot this week and stood there for 30 minutes but no security guard came to check on us. The rest of the base is surrounded by 18-foot barbed-wire fences. Last night Hamish de Bretton-Gordon, a former army colonel and nuclear weapons expert, said: 'It seems incongruous that at the base for our stealth fighters there is only a picket fence, which a small child could vault, as protection. When our new tactical nuclear bombers, the F-35As, arrive at RAF Marham, a wooden fence is almost encouraging terrorists to 'have a go'.' RAF Marham is the home of 617 Squadron 'The Dambusters' who fly the F-35B Lightning multi-role stealth fighter. A month ago Keir Starmer announced the government was buying at least 12 American-made F-35A fighter-bombers that can carry nuclear weapons as well as conventional ones at an estimated cost of around £700million. At a Nato summit in The Hague, the Prime Minister said the purchase was a 'response to a growing nuclear threat'. Downing Street said the move was 'the biggest strengthening of the UK's nuclear posture in a generation'. It is the first time the RAF will be able to carry nukes since the 1990s. The move comes at a time of growing global insecurity – and as the PM and his European and Canadian allies scramble to convince Donald Trump they are serious about defending Europe, rather than relying on the US. Colonel de Bretton-Gordon added: 'I applaud the design to get a tactical nuclear deterrent but the protection of these aircraft is as important as the aircraft themselves'. A government spokesperson said: ''We take security extremely seriously and operate a multi-layered approach to protect our sites, including fencing, patrols and CCTV monitoring. Following the incident at Brize Norton, we are urgently reviewing security and have implemented a series of enhanced security measures at all sites. After years of hollowing out and underfunding of the armed forces, the Strategic Defence Review concluded that we need to invest more, backed by the largest sustained increase in defence spending since the end of the Cold War.'

Arrests made after protesters hang off Forth Road Bridge to halt gas tanker in major demo
ACTIVISTS NICKED Arrests made after protesters hang off Forth Road Bridge to halt gas tanker in major demo Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) TEN arrests have been made following a Greenpeace demonstration on the Forth Road Bridge. Activists shut down the bridge in South Queensferry, near Edinburgh, yesterday afternoon - hours before Donald Trump touched down in Scotland. Emergency crews raced to the scene after the alarm was raised at around 1.05pm as cops received reports of a protest starting to build. That was after the group suspended themselves from the bridge using ropes, ending up about 25 metres above the water level at high tide. Police have now confirmed that 10 people have been nicked. Five men, aged between 35 and 40, and five women, aged between 25 and 42, were arrested in connection. The bridge is currently still closed. Climate campaigners from Greenpeace confirmed that 10 activists abseiled from the huge 156m bridge to block an INEOS tanker. It spent 10 days travelling across the Atlantic to deliver a cargo of 27,000 cubic meters of fracked American gas to the petrochemical facility in Grangemouth. And it happened the day that President Donald Trump touched down in Scotland for his four-day visit. The US President, 79, arrived aboard Air Force One at around 8.30pm last night. BBC Comedian Susan Riddell Charged After Defence Factory Incident in Edinburgh Greenpeace have said the protest is aimed at INEOS, which is the UK's biggest plastics manufacturer. Protesters unfurled six large red sky banners which read: "Plastics Treaty Now". They were also being supported by a rescue crew on the bridge and a boat team in the river below. This morning, Greenpeace announced it had ended the demonstration, saying they had "achieved what we set out to". The campaign group said its demonstration had prevented the Ineos tanker from delivering the gas for a full 24 hours, saying that the vessel could only travel to Grangemouth during high tides. As a result the specially trained activists began climbing down their ropes early on today. 4 Greenpeace have said the protest is aimed at INEOS, which is the UK's biggest plastics manufacturer Credit: Andrew Barr 4 Protesters unfurled six large red sky banners which read: "Plastics Treaty Now" Credit: © Luca Marino / Greenpeace Greenpeace said all 10 had descended safely and were voluntarily transported to Port Edgar in South Queensferry, where it said they were arrested by officers from Police Scotland on suspicion of culpable and reckless conduct. Amy Cameron, programme director at Greenpeace UK said: "We've achieved what we set out to. "By blocking Ineos, we've drawn global attention to the company's bottomless appetite for plastic production, false solutions and profit for its billionaire boss Jim Ratcliffe." In response yesterday, a statement from INEOS said: "Today's Greenpeace stunt is dangerous, disruptive, and entirely counterproductive. "It may grab headlines, but it does absolutely nothing to reduce plastic pollution or deliver real-world solutions." A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Ten people have been arrested following a protest on the Forth Road Bridge on Friday, 25 July, 2025. "The protest was reported to police around 1.05pm. "Five men, aged between 35 and 40, and five women, aged between 25 and 42, were arrested in connection and further enquiries are ongoing. "The bridge remains closed at this time."
