Bull of the Day: Meta Platforms (META)
META stock could be the highlight of the Q2 earnings season.
Notably, Meta has now surpassed the Zacks EPS Consensus for 10 consecutive quarters, as illustrated by the green arrows in the Price, Performance, and Surprise chart below, on the way to gains of more than +300% in the last three years.
Outperforming the broader market in 2025, META is up +20% year to date with its impressive EPS surprise streak expected to continue along with considerable expansion on the top and bottom lines.
Furthermore, Meta's AI infrastructure expansion is a reason to believe the social media giant could steal the spotlight regarding standouts of the Q2 earnings season.
Meta's Q2 Expectations
With Meta reaping major rewards from its aggressive push into generative AI, the company's Q2 sales are thought to have increased 14% to $44.69 billion compared to $39.07 billion a year ago. Plus, Q2 earnings are expected to stretch 12% to $5.80 per share from EPS of $5.16 in the prior year quarter.
More intriguing, the Zacks ESP (Expected Surprise Prediction) suggests Meta could once again surpass earnings expectations with the Most Accurate and recent estimates among Wall Street having Q2 EPS pegged at $5.90 and nearly 2% above the underlying Zacks Consensus.
Meta's AI Infrastructure Expansion
Of course, the benefiting metrics to support Meta's AI expansion could help lead to a post-earnings pop. To that point, Meta has gone all out on a bold strategy that combines massive AI infrastructure investment, elite talent acquisition, and cutting-edge model development.
Supporting Meta's push toward 'superintelligence' are several AI data centers and systems that are on the horizon with the capability to enhance reasoning and coding, interacting at human-like levels.
Prometheus: A 1-gigawatt facility in Ohio, launching in 2026.
Hyperion: A 5-gigawatt campus in Louisiana, which is one of the world's largest AI data centers.
Titan Clusters: Additional multi-gigawatt AI supercomputing data centers planned across North America and Europe.
AI's Expanding Social Role
It's noteworthy that Meta's Advantage+ Ads use AI to optimize targeting and performance with minimal manual input. Leading to more advertising revenue for Meta is that advertisers are seeing higher ROI from the monetization of AI across Meta's massive user base. Powering smart replies, content recommendation, and moderation, Meta AI is embedded in Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger, reaching 700+ million monthly active users.
It's also worth mentioning that Meta's "LLaMA" large language models (LLMs) are open-source regarding their AI capabilities that understand and generate human-like processes, which has attracted developers and startups to build on the technology. Overlapping the scale of potential that Meta is creating is that AI chatbots and virtual assistants are being used for a variety of companionship roles, as friends, therapists, and even romantic partners…
Meta's EPS Growth & Positive Revisions
Correlating with the strong YTD price performance for META, EPS revisions have continued to trend higher across the board for Meta's current reporting quarter (Q2), Q3, fiscal 2025 as a whole, and FY26. Even better, and indicative of more upside in Meta's stock ahead of its Q2 report, is that these EPS revisions are nicely up in the last week.
Meta's annual earnings are now expected to increase 7% this year and are projected to rise another 9% in FY26 to a whopping $27.89 per share. Most mind-blowing, following the pandemic, FY26 EPS projections would reflect 176% growth with Meta's earnings at $10.09 a share in 2020.
Meta's Reasonable P/E Valuation
Despite a lofty price tag of over $700 a share, Meta stock is still the second cheapest company among its 'Magnificent 7' big tech peers in terms of P/E valuation.
At just under 28X forward earnings, META is only above Alphabet's
GOOGL 19.2X but is the next closest of the Mag 7 to the benchmark S&P 500's average, with Tesla
TSLA having the most stretched P/E premium among the group at 185.5X.
Bottom Line
Meta Platforms stock has continued to create the eustress that led to some investors taking profits too soon, and optimistically, META looks poised to keep running past $700 a share as its Q2 results approach next week.
Keeping this in mind, in addition to sporting a Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy) and landing the Bull of the Day, META checks an 'A' Zacks Style Scores grade for Growth and Momentum.

The Smartest Growth Stock to Buy With $10,000 Right Now
Key Points While known to be a leader in e-commerce, this tech giant also has a strong presence in other tech-driven markets. Artificial intelligence is set to push further gains at this company's dominant cloud computing segment. The stock's current valuation looks reasonable given solid revenue and earnings growth. 10 stocks we like better than Amazon › Owning growth stocks can be an exciting way to invest your capital. These are usually companies that are operating with tailwinds at their back. This helps them put up strong revenue and profit gains. For investors, the possibility of scoring huge returns is certainly hard to ignore. But where can one find attractive opportunities? I believe there's one, which is a historical winner, that's hiding in plain sight. Here's the smartest growth stock to buy with $10,000 right now. Much more than just an e-commerce powerhouse With a market cap of $2.4 trillion and trailing-12-month net sales of $650 billion, there's no chance that Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN) flies under the radar. However, it's a growth stock that investors must take a closer look at today. That's because Amazon is riding the wave of multiple secular trends that are propelling it forward. Investors know Amazon as the dominant e-commerce platform, with nearly 40% of all online shopping in the U.S. going through the marketplace. With a massive product assortment at cheap prices, plus fast and free shipping, consumers are keen on spending on the Amazon site. But the business is much more than an online retailer. Amazon also has a sizable digital ad segment that generated $56.2 billion in revenue in 2024. It's growing at a double-digit clip, too. And based on the profitability of industry leaders Alphabet and Meta Platforms, Amazon is surely raking in meaningful earnings from its advertising efforts. There's also Amazon Web Services, the industry's leading cloud computing platform. It has generally posted faster growth than the overall company. And with a first-quarter operating margin of 39.5%, it's also been the profit engine. According to Grand View Research, the global cloud computing market is expected to expand at a 20% yearly pace over the next five years to $2.4 trillion. AWS is clearly staring at a long growth runway. Amazon CEO Andy Jassy estimates that only 15% of IT spending has shifted to the cloud thus far, leaving plenty of opportunity for AWS to capture the ongoing transition. The rise of artificial intelligence helps in this regard, as enterprise customers have a growing desire to build AI apps and tools using the products and services that AWS offers. "Before this generation of AI, we thought AWS had the chance to ultimately be a multi hundred-billion-dollar revenue run rate business. We now think it could be even larger." Jassy said on the Q1 2025 earnings call. Still a smart buy With a huge revenue base, it can undoubtedly be difficult for Amazon to continue growing the top line at a respectable clip. The company operates from a position of strength, though, because weakness in one area can more than be made up for by robustness in another. Most other businesses aren't as fortunate. This supports Amazon's powerful competitive standing. Wall Street consensus analyst estimates call for revenue to increase at a compound annual rate of 9.7% between 2024 and 2027. However, I wouldn't be surprised at all to see growth come in better than this forecast. Amazon's ability to leverage its disruptive and innovative capabilities to penetrate adjacent growth vectors is a phenomenal trait. A renewed focus on operational efficiency has supported profitability gains in recent years. And this is set to continue. Analysts believe earnings per share will jump by 17.6% between 2024 and 2027. The stock is reasonably valued, at a forward price-to-earnings ratio of 36.6. Given Amazon's dominance, investors shouldn't hesitate to buy $10,000 worth of the business, which should get you about 44 shares. Should you invest $1,000 in Amazon right now? Before you buy stock in Amazon, consider this: The Motley Fool Stock Advisor analyst team just identified what they believe are the 10 best stocks for investors to buy now… and Amazon wasn't one of them. A More Affordable EV Won't Save Tesla
Key Points Tesla fell 5% after hours on its second-quarter earnings report. Some investors saw production of a new, more affordable vehicle as a positive sign. The company launched its robotaxi network in June. These 10 stocks could mint the next wave of millionaires › Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) issued another disappointing earnings report on Tuesday. The leading electric vehicle (EV) maker finished the after-hours session down 5%, but the sell-off could have been worse. The company reported a decline in both sales and profit. Revenue was down 12% to $22.5 billion, and adjusted net income was down 23% to $1.39 billion, or $0.40 per share. Where to invest $1,000 right now? Our analyst team just revealed what they believe are the 10 best stocks to buy right now. Learn More » Those numbers actually topped a muted revenue estimate at $22.13 billion, while the bottom-line consensus matched the results at $0.40. Tesla's problems have been well-documented at this point. CEO Elon Musk's turn in the political spotlight seemed to backfire after his relationship with President Donald Trump went sour. Due in part to Musk's involvement with politics, the brand has become unappealing in the eyes of some potential buyers, leading to a 16% decline in automotive revenue. Sales have plunged in Europe, and the company is losing ground to more affordable Chinese EVs. One seemingly bright spot Musk has a long history of overcoming weak results by telling investors what they want to hear on the earnings call, including making big promises about its robotaxi network and other initiatives in autonomy like its Optimus robot. He seemed to do that again on the latest earnings call, with some comments about the more affordable model he has long promised, which some have dubbed the Tesla Model 2. Musk said that the company started production of the vehicle in June and is ramping up production now. He added: "The goal with those products was not to negatively impact revenue or gross margin, but just to make a car that everyone loves and wants at a more affordable price." Musk has long argued that price competition was one of the biggest headwinds facing the company, but the brand crisis seems to have overshadowed that. By introducing its own lower-priced model, Tesla may end up cannibalizing its more expensive vehicles. Customers may be choosing between a more expensive Tesla and that lower-priced model, rather than another brand. The new vehicle is just a cheaper Model Y, rather than a brand-new vehicle model. The robotaxi initiative The biggest reason Tesla has maintained its premium valuation even as sales and profits have tumbled is that investors believe that Tesla's robotaxi network could go mainstream, fulfilling Musk's long-term vision. However, the robotaxi has gotten off to only a modest start after launching in June, and it seemed to get less attention on Tuesday's earnings call, though Musk reminded the audience: "As you can tell, autonomy is the story." Management said that robotaxis in Austin, Texas have topped 7,000 miles with no significant safety interventions. The company is aiming to launch the robotaxi in the San Francisco Bay Area next. Tesla needs growth in its core business Investors have bid up Tesla stock on hopes for its initiatives in robotaxis and more affordable vehicles, but the company needs to return to growth in selling EVs for the stock to be successful over the long term. The decline in EV sales is a reflection of a backlash against Tesla's brand. The company is also expected to struggle over the next few quarters due to the elimination of the EV tax credit and a change in other federal policies that supported EV adoption. The company also faces a $300 million effect from tariffs. Tesla could get back on track, especially if the robotaxi network takes off. But the current valuation in the stock leaves little room for upside if it does, especially given the persistent challenges in EV sales. While a more affordable vehicle might be a step in the right direction, it seems more likely to undercut demand for Tesla's more expensive vehicles, rather than competing with alternatives. Don't miss this second chance at a potentially lucrative opportunity Ever feel like you missed the boat in buying the most successful stocks? Then you'll want to hear this. On rare occasions, our expert team of analysts issues a 'Double Down' stock recommendation for companies that they think are about to pop. If you're worried you've already missed your chance to invest, now is the best time to buy before it's too late. And the numbers speak for themselves: Nvidia: if you invested $1,000 when we doubled down in 2009, you'd have $449,961!* Apple: if you invested $1,000 when we doubled down in 2008, you'd have $40,603!* Netflix: if you invested $1,000 when we doubled down in 2004, you'd have $636,628!* Right now, we're issuing 'Double Down' alerts for three incredible companies, available when you join Stock Advisor, and there may not be another chance like this anytime soon.
