Aaron-Wooi Yik snap early-exit streak with China Open win
The Malaysian pair battled past Denmark's Rasmus Kjær-Frederik Sogaard 21-19, 21-15 -- the same duo who had ousted them in the opening round of last month's Indonesia Open - to end a frustrating run of back-to-back early exits.
Aaron-Wooi Yik, who also suffered a shock defeat to compatriots Ong Yew Sin-Teo Ee Yi at the Japan Open last week, showed far greater composure this time to exact revenge and extend their head-to-head record against the Danes to 4-2 from six meetings.
The victory is a much-needed boost for the 2022 world champions, who had been in red-hot form earlier this season -- reaching four consecutive finals between April and May, and winning three titles in the process: the Asia Championships, Thailand Open and Singapore Open.
Aaron-Wooi Yik are now expected to face France's Popov brothers, Toma Junior and Christo, in the last 16 as they look to rediscover their rhythm and mount another deep run in this Super 1000 tournament.

Wei Chong-Kai Wun set up all-Malaysian clash with Azriyn-Wee Kiong
KUALA LUMPUR: World No. 7 Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun kept up their perfect record against compatriots Yap Roy King-Wan Arif Junaidi with a composed 21-17, 21-16 win in the China Open first round on Wednesday. It was their sixth win in as many meetings over the world No. 24, and it booked them a spot in the last 16 where they will face professional pair Nur Azriyn Ayub-Tan Wee Kiong -- setting up an all-Malaysian showdown and guaranteeing the nation a place in the quarter-finals. Wei Chong--Kai Wun have been on a consistent run since capturing the Malaysia Masters title in May, having reached at least the quarter-finals in their last three outings.
