Netizens were blown away by her singing, and topics like 'Jess Lee is amazing' went viral on the social media platform Weibo.

Barbie Hsu's husband personally designs sculpture for her tomb

DJ Koo is said to be creating a unique and artistic memorial symbolising their enduring love. Photo: DJ Koo/Instagram South Korean entertainer Koo Jun-yup – better known as DJ Koo – has been visibly heartbroken since the death of his wife, Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu, in February this year. Reports say he has lost a significant amount of weight and has been visiting Hsu's resting place at Taipei's Jinbaoshan Cemetery almost daily in recent months. There are also unconfirmed rumours that he plans to relocate to Jinshan to be closer to her. In a touching gesture, DJ Koo is said to be personally designing a sculpture for Hsu's tomb, which will be placed in a celebrity memorial section of the cemetery, as reported by Sin Chew . The tribute is expected to be completed around two meaningful dates: Oct 6 – which would have been Hsu's 49th birthday – and Feb 3 next year, the first anniversary of her cremation. Koo, who graduated from Kyungnam University's Department of Industrial Design, is said to be creating a unique and artistic memorial symbolising their enduring love. Hsu, also known by her stage name 'Big S', died on Feb 2 after she came down with influenza-related pneumonia while on vacation with her family in Japan. She was later cremated in Japan. The ashes was brought to Taiwan on Feb 5.

Taiwanese actor Chen Bo-lin to wed girlfriend after dating for 13 years

The relationship between Chen Bo-lin (left) and Chen Ting-hsuan first came to light in late 2012. Photos: Chen Bo-lin/Instagram, Chen Ting-hsuan/Instagram Taiwanese actor Chen Bo-lin is reportedly planning to tie the knot in 2025 with singer-actress Chen Ting-hsuan, his girlfriend of almost 13 years. According to a report by Taiwanese magazine Mirror Media on July 9, the catering industry learnt that Chen Bo-lin has been inquiring about the details of a small overseas wedding. It is very likely to be held in New Zealand at the end of the year, but the final decision has not been made yet. Mirror Media quoted sources as saying that Chen Bo-lin, 41, had travelled to Queenstown, New Zealand, in May and proposed to Chen Ting-hsuan, 35, during a helicopter ride in the mountains. He chose the destination for his proposal and likely the wedding, as he was recently in the country filming the upcoming travel variety show What A Trip and was impressed by its scenery. The programme was shot over two months entirely in New Zealand. In June, Chen Ting-hsuan also posted videos and photos of herself in Glenorchy, New Zealand, where she rode a horse at one of the filming locations for The Lord Of The Rings trilogy (2001 to 2003). Mirror Media said Chen Bo-lin has no budget restrictions for the wedding. The number of guests is still being decided on, but the wedding is likely to be an intimate affair of about 30 people, including close friends and relatives. Chen Bo-lin's manager neither confirmed nor denied the news when approached by the media on July 9, only saying: 'Thank you for your good wishes. We will let you know when we have any good news.' The couple's relationship first came to light in late 2012 after she was spotted going to his house after work. He acknowledged on social media later that they had begun dating after meeting on the set of Taiwanese film Machi Action (2013). The actor has been discreet about the relationship, unlike his previous high-profile romance with Malaysian-American model Mandy Lieu, 40, between 2007 and 2010. Chen Ting-hsuan was a member of Taiwanese girl group Popu Lady, which debuted in 2012 and have been on hiatus since 2020. She has not been active in the entertainment industry since then, making only a guest appearance in Taiwanese idol drama Dear Adam (2022). – The Straits Times/Asia News Network

'Please be more responsible', says Karyawan, on certain parties misusing the name or brand associated with musicians and bands

The Malaysian Artistes Association (KARYAWAN) wishes to firmly state its position regarding the misuse of the name and brand 'XPDC' by certain parties who do not possess any official authorisation but continue to use the name in promotional materials, public performances, and commercial appearances. This action has confused fans and event organisers and has the potential to damage the integrity of the local music industry. The name and logo 'XPDC' are registered trademarks exclusively owned by Life Records and are fully protected under the provisions of the Trademarks Act. This brand carries significant commercial value and a reputation built since the early 1990s, making it one of the most influential rock bands in the history of Malaysian music. To date, only two entities have been officially and formally authorised to use the name 'XPDC,' namely XPDC (Kita Pengyu) and XPDC (Militia) – both consisting of original members of the group and officially under the banner of Life Records. However, KARYAWAN has been informed of the existence of another group identifying itself as 'Real XPDC,' which actively performs, promotes concerts, and uses the name 'XPDC' in various promotional materials without any official authorisation or endorsement from the rightful owner. Although the term 'Real' is used as a form of differentiation, the fact remains that the name 'XPDC' is still prominently used, causing public confusion and potentially giving the false impression that they represent the original band or, in this case, the groups that are officially authorised to use the name. From a legal standpoint, this act may constitute a violation of trademark rights, and legal action may be pursued. KARYAWAN does not dismiss the existence of tribute bands as a form of appreciation in the arts. However, it must be carried out responsibly, ethically, and without misleading the public. If the true intention is to pay tribute, then the use of an alternative name that avoids confusion and fosters goodwill with the original group must be the moral and professional basis on which such groups operate, says KARYAWAN. Given no other option, KARYAWAN will most likely refer this matter to the Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO) and the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) to verify whether the name 'Real XPDC' has been improperly registered or falls under a category that causes conflict with the rightful owners. If there is a clear breach of trademark rights, appropriate action will be supported and taken. We urge all artists, organizers, and fans to continue respecting intellectual property rights, artistic legacies, and the legal principles that uphold the stability of the nation's music and entertainment industry. In an official statement to the media, Life Records said that it recognises only the following eight individuals as the genuine and original members of XPDC since the founding of the group and the release of their debut album. Each of these members has entered into an official artist agreement with Life Records: 1. Syed Ismail Bin Syed Ibrahim (Mael); 2. Mohd Zulkifly Bin Nik Hussin (Izo); 3. Azuar Bin Md. Tasi (Zuar); 4. Rosly Bin Abdul Samat (Lee Space); 5. Suhaimi Bin Abu Bakar (Amy); 6. Mohd Ali Bin Ismail (Ali); 7. Saiful Rizla Bin Kamarudin (Lola); 8. Amran Bin Marsiman (Yan). In a statement to the media, Life Records said: "The XPDC logo is a registered trademark owned exclusively by Life Records. Any use of the XPDC logo, name, or any derivative thereof—including but not limited to reproduction on merchandise, apparel, digital or printed promotional materials, or online content—must be licensed and approved in writing by Life Records. Unauthorised use or misrepresentation of the XPDC brand constitutes a violation of intellectual property rights and will be subject to legal action."
