Idaho murder files reveal the victim who no longer looked human after Bryan Kohberger's horrific knife killings

Daily Mail2 days ago
was so badly multilated by Bryan Kohbger's murderous knife attack that she looked 'unrecognizable' by the time he'd finished with her.
'I was unable to comprehend exactly what I was looking at while trying to discern the nature of the injuries,' a cop wrote in newly-released files on the 2022 Idaho murders in the wake of Kohberger's sentencing Wednesday.
Goncalves, 21, was stabbed a total of 34 times, with many of those wounds left on her face at the student home where she lived in Moscow.
Unlike Kohberger's other three victims, who only had stab wounds, Golcalves also suffered blunt force injuries.
The distressing new information emerged in previously-sealed Moscow Police Department files into the killings of Goncalves and friends Xana Kenodle, Maddie Mogen and Ethan Chapin.
Another officer on the scene described seeing Kernodle's body on her bedroom covered in blood, with defensive wounds to her hands, including a deep gash between her finger and thumb. She was stabbed more than 50 times.
'It was obvious an intense struggle had occurred,' the officer wrote. 'There was blood smeared on various items in the room and all over the floor.'
Kernodle's boyfriend Chapin was found partially covered with a blanket in her bed, with his jugular severed, the police files said.
On the floor above, officers found the bodies of Mogen and Goncalves.
Mogen had wounds to her forearm, hands and a gash from her right eye to her nose.
Both were covered in blood, which had soaked the pink blanket they were sharing.
Kohberger left behind a Ka-Bar leather knife sheath next to Mogen's body.
DNA on the clasp was traced back to the killer using Investigative Genetic Genealogy.
The police files also revealed the victims saw a man lurking in the trees outside their home and found their front door mysteriously open one month before the killer struck.
Goncalves had told at least two friends that she had seen a man watching her in the trees around the home.
Surviving roommate Dylan Mortensen - who bravely spoke out in Wednesday's sentencing hearing - told police Goncalves described seeing the 'shadow' when she took her pet dog Murphy outside.
Another friend echoed this accounts, telling police Goncalves had seen a dark figure staring at her from the tree line when taking Murphy outside.
Mortensen, who was 19 at the time, also recalled one time when she came home to find the door to their three-story house open.
It is not clear if the incidents are related and if it is possible Kohberger was carrying out a practice run for the murders one month later.
It is also unclear if the man Goncalves saw was Kohberger surveilling the victims' home, or if he may have broken into the home prior to the night of his attack.
But the details of these bizarre incidents come as prosecutors have been able to confirm Kohberger was surveilling the home for some time.
From July 2022 through to November 13, 2022, Kohberger's phone placed him in the vicinity of the King Road home at least 23 times, mostly at night.
Despite his guilty plea and sentencing, the killer's motive and target for the murders remain a mystery.
Speaking at a press conference after the sentencing, Moscow Police Corporal Brett Payne told reporters that while they know Kohberger 'targeted' that house, they still don't know why.
'The evidence suggested that there was a reason that this particular house was chosen. What that reason is, we don't know,' he said.
Investigators also remain in the dark about whether one or more of the victims inside the home was his intended target.

Denise Richards' estranged husband Aaron Phypers reveals her alleged affair with 'marine lover' and their insane home life

Denise Richards has allegedly had a months-long fling with a former Special Forces soldier, who showered her with X-rated photos and videos - including a graphic clip that shows him naked and pleasuring himself. The actress's outraged estranged husband Aaron Phypers claimed he caught wind of his her alleged affair in April, and said she had promised to break it off but he catch her lying about another hook-up with 'lover Rudy Reyes' that took place at Hilton Garden Inn, Burbank, California, the following month. Phypers said his discovery of the 'tryst' then led to an explosive showdown over the July 4 holiday weekend, during which she 'smashed up' his phone, but she hit back at him with allegations of being the victim of domestic abuse. SCROLL DOWN FOR VIDEO Evidence? Phypers claims he discovered 107 raunchy texts between Richards and her 'Special Forces' lover on her phone in April Phypers filed for divorce the following Monday and was hit with an avalanche of abuse allegations from Richards in court papers, including that he'd given her a black eye. Phypers said: 'I'm broken-hearted and f***ing tired. Really, she's f***ed me up. 'We've been together nine years and for her to do that and to lie to me consistently - I'm totally tired and drained.' He said his relationship with Richards had been deteriorating for some time before their split, and worsened at the start of the year partly due to what he said was her insatiable appetite for prescription pills and tequila. Regarding the topic of pills, Phypers said of Richards: 'She's got a real problem. She mixes it too with booze and she stays up all night. 'She's there on her computer and taking stuff, then she hides the bottles. It's gotten out of hand, and I'm really concerned. 'She buys them in bottles of 500 pills. I don't know where she gets them from, but she always has them. 'I don't know what the market rate for those are but it's $10, $20, $30, $50 each pill. You do the math - a lot of money is going out the window for that.' Sordid location: Phypers shared what he said was a text conversation that revealed details of the multiple sordid hotel hook-ups his wife and her lover enjoyed Despite the alleged drugs and boozing, Phypers said the marriage muddled along until he claimed to have discovered 107 raunchy texts between Richards and Reyes on her phone, along with details of the multiple sordid hotel hook-ups they enjoyed. He said the discovery made clear to him that Richards was allegedly having an affair, which led him to file for divorce. The proceedings and tension between the couple were widely reported thereafter. He said: 'I just had this feeling that something was off because her behavior had changed - she was being kind of cool to me. 'I opened her phone - we both know each other's passwords - so I opened it up and then I went to her deleted texts and there were 107 of them between her and this guy. 'I went through them and it just broke my heart.' Of her alleged lover, Phypers added: 'As for him, he's really is a w**ker.' Richards met Reyes during her stint on Fox reality show Special Forces: World's Toughest Test. Reyes, a former Recon Marine, appeared as one of the show's presenters and 'directing staff' instructors. A review of what Phypers claims was their text messages revealed multiple discussions about setting up hotel sex sessions as well as scores of raunchy photos shared between each other. Along with graphic naked photos and videos of Richards' alleged soldier lover, there were also X-rated photos of the actress, including one of her exposing her breast. When he first discovered the fling, his wife apologized profusely and promised to break it off, according to Phypers. She also offered to let him look at her phone whenever he wants to 'rebuild trust' but, he said, she soon returned to making plans to meet up with her lover. Phypers said: 'When I first found out, it really stung but she offered to rebuild trust by letting me see her phone. 'Well, it turns out she's got another number, too, which I just found out about. 'It kills me. She's been setting up times to meet him out of town while creating fights with me.' The couple's showdown came after he said he discovered that the affair was still going on and he took photos of the raunchy conversations -at which point, Richards snatched his phone. Phypers said he later discovered the device 'smashed to powder' in the garbage can. He said: 'I run up to her and I go, "What the f***k did you do this for?" And she goes, "I did not do anything to your phone." Just denied it. 'And then I'm like, so it was Casper the Ghost? And she still denied it, so I ran out. I was in disbelief, and I took off. 'I just feel like I've been taken for a fool. It's been a nightmare. Just a huge nightmare.'

‘Killer' accused of murdering beauty queen ‘fled to UK on small boat' as heartbroken dad fears he'll never get justice

A MAN accused of murdering his beauty queen wife fled to the UK on a small boat, it is claimed. Ibrahim Ghazal, from Lebanon, is alleged to have suffocated Zeina Kanjo to death in Beirut before moving around Europe for years. 3 3 The 36-year-old - who is subject to an Interpol red notice - eventually travelled to Britain from France this year along with thousands of other migrants. Ghazal was jailed last week jailed for nine months for attempting to arrive without valid entry clearance after being arrested by Border Force. Government officials are facing a possible crisis ahead of his sentence expiring. Ms Kanjo's dad Mohammed fears his daughter will never get justice if the alleged killer returns to Lebanon and is hopeful the British legal system can step up. There are fears Ghazal could do the same to remain in Britain. Ms Kanjo, 33, was murdered in January 2021, having apparently got married just four months earlier. Her death sparked a national debate in Lebanon about domestic abuse. Ms Kanjo had filed domestic violence and fraud cases against her new husband and was trying to divorce him when she was killed, according to reports. She had represented her country at a beauty contest in Egypt the previous year. Ghazal allegedly fled to Turkey hours after his wife's death. Lebanese channel Al Jadeed broadcast an audio recording in which he allegedly admitted to the murder. Speaking to Ms Kanjo's sister, the person says: "I didn't want to, I didn't want her to die, when she was screaming, I just put my hand on her mouth." Ghazal is understood to have travelled through Greece, the Netherlands and Luxembourg. He was arrested in December 2022 in Stokholm under Interpol's red notice. However, Swedish laws prevented him from being extradited back home where he said he faced execution, and when he was detained again in Germany, the same thing happened, according to Ms Kanjo's lawyer Ashraf Al-Moussawi. Mr Al-Moussawi has pointed out Lebanon has not carried out an execution since 1994 and so this should not have been used as a defence. He added the alleged killer then "wandered Europe until his recent arrest in England". The lawyer has urged the British government to find a way to send Ghazal back to his homeland to face justice. Ms Kanjo's dad Mohammed claims his daughter's husband had sneaked back into Lebanon to attend his cousin's wedding a year after his wife's death. "After all this time, I'm left wondering if justice will ever be served," he told the Mail. "It's like something is missing from your body, something that is not replaceable. "I honestly hope he's not handed over to Lebanese authorities only to be imprisoned and then released again." He added perhaps the UK legal system can "find a way to properly punish him". Ghazal was detained by Border Force and jailed at Gloucester Crown Court last Wednesday after admitting to entering the country unlawfully. A Government spokesman said: "The Home Office never comments on whether extradition requests have or have not been received, and it is also our longstanding policy not to comment on individual cases. "However, we will always do everything in our power to remove serious foreign criminals from the UK so they are not left free on our streets after completing their sentence."

Police are hunting for a woman who allegedly sexually assaulted a male train worker as he walked through a carriage late at night. At the time of the assault, the railway employee had been passing through a carriage as it travelled between Sutton Parkway and Shirebrook in northern Nottinghamshire. The attack is said to have occurred at around 9pm on Saturday, May 31. Now, the British Transport Police have issued an urgent appeal for the public's assistance and are hoping to speak to a woman captured on CCTV on the day of the incident. Officers believe that she could hold vital information that could help aid their investigation. Anyone who recognises the woman has been asked to contact British Transport Police. A spokesperson for the force said: 'Police investigating a sexual assault on a rail staff member in Nottinghamshire have released this image in connection. 'At around 9pm on Saturday 31 May, a member of staff was on a train between Sutton Parkway and Shirebrook. 'As he walked down the carriage, a woman sexually assaulted him. 'Officers would like to speak to the woman pictured as they believe she may have information that could assist their enquiries.' Any individuals with relevant information or able to identify the woman pictured have been asked to contact the British Transport Police by texting 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 682 of 31 May. Information can also be reported anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. It come after a Great Western Railway train manager was jailed for seven years in February after he sexually assaulted an 18-year-old passenger when asking to check her ticket. Nicholas McMurray, 38, approached the victim and asked to see her ticket, and adjusted the woman's dress, British Transport Police said. The 18-year-old had been standing and chatting on the phone in the vestibule shortly before it arrived in Swansea when McMurray sexually assaulted her on June 22, 2024. He continued to hold the victim until the train pulled into the station and made sexually explicit comments to her before touching her again as she got off the train. The woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, bravely reported the incident to officers at the station. Police found the 38-year-old standing by the stationary train when he was arrested. Predator McMurray was 'immediately removed from duty as train manager for GWR' and no longer works there. He was been found guilty of sexual assault and assault by penetration as Swansea Crown Court on February 5. Last year he was sentenced to seven years in prison and put on the sex offenders register for life. Anyone who is a victim or a witness to a sexual offence on a railway has been urged to report it by texting 61016. A GWR spokesperson said: 'We are committed to upholding the highest standards of safety and trust for our customers and employees. 'As soon as we became aware of the incident, we took immediate action to remove the individual from duty and he no longer works for the business.'
