CM directs mango pulp units to support farmers amid price slump
Despite a bumper harvest, mango growers in Chittoor district face heavy losses due to a price slump, despite the state's market intervention scheme.
Naidu directed pulp industries to immediately purchase mangoes to ease farmers' distress, promising government support for the industries. Officials reported 1.12 lakh metric tons of mangoes procured so far, with 1.70 lakh metric tons still expected.
Farmers said pulp industries hesitate to buy due to low orders and storage issues, with unloading delays of 3-4 days.
The Chief Minister urged processing units to promptly buy the produce. Industry reps highlighted high import duties in Europe and no duties in Pakistan and African countries, requesting Naidu to negotiate reductions with the central government. They also appealed for GST on mango pulp to drop from 12% to 5%.
Naidu said he had written to the central government and would follow up.
With production ranging from 6-12 tons per acre, Naidu stressed fair prices for farmers while ensuring viability for industries.

Second notice by contractors over 90,000cr unpaid bills
Pune: The state unit of the Builders' Association of India (BAI) has issued a second legal notice to state govt, demanding immediate payment of over Rs 90,000 crore in dues to contractors. Notice issuedto Beniwal to vacate quarters
Jaipur: The city district collectorate issued a notice to Nagaur MP and RLP chief Hanuman Beniwal, asking him to vacate his govt house Thursday. The notice was issued by the estate officer and additional district magistrate. Officials said the notice was issued following a recent complaint filed by the Public Works Department (PWD). His brother, Narayan Beniwal, and former MLA Pukhraj Garg also received similar eviction notices. "All three have been told to vacate their govt residences by July 11 as they are no longer MLAs. Still, they are occupying flats at the Jyoti Nagar MLA Complex," an official stated. Although Beniwal won from the Khinvsar assembly constituency in the 2023 polls, he had to resign as MLA after becoming the Nagaur MP following the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. Beniwal's wife contested from Khinvsar in the bypoll but lost. Earlier, on Thursday, electricity connection was disconnected from Beniwal's residence in Nagaur after the discom alleged unpaid dues of over Rs 11 lakh. Beniwal's brother, Premsukh Beniwal, is the owner of the house. RLP too operates from the house.

Ahmedabad: Two years into a large-scale push for white-topped roads in Ahmedabad, the numbers paint a troubling picture: 84 roads sanctioned, Rs 298 crore budgeted, and only 27 roads completed. But as of July 4, less than one-third of these projects have reached completion. Work on 28 roads is currently underway, while 29 are still awaiting a start. Monsoon-related waterlogging and repeated digging of freshly built roads have added to citizen frustration. The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) had set out to redevelop 84 stretches, covering 61.15 km, using white-topping — a technique considered more durable than traditional asphalt.
