"After that, the complainant started transferring amounts for performing the puja whenever he was instructed to. The crooks took Rs1 lakh under the pretext of sending him a ring. He was also told that he would receive the ring through an e-commerce company," the officer said. He said the complainant contacted the 'trustees' when he did not receive the ring. The alleged trustees informed him that the trust would return his money through an e-wallet if the ring was not delivered. The complainant then checked the e-wallet company's contact number. The person on the other end told him that the money was already sent to him and also shared a file with the complainant. "It was an APK file. When the complainant clicked on that file, Rs48,000 was debited from his bank account," he said. The officer said between June 17 and July 9, the complainant transferred Rs4.8 lakh, and Rs48,000 were siphoned from his bank account. At that point, he realized he was being duped and filed an online complaint.
