Castrol India introduces new MAGNATEC engine oil range meeting global API SQ standards

Business Upturn4 days ago
Castrol India has become the first in the country to introduce engine oils that meet the latest global API SQ specification, setting a new benchmark in passenger car lubrication. What makes this achievement even more significant is that the upgraded MAGNATEC range is being manufactured locally, reinforcing Castrol's commitment to the 'Made in India, for India' approach.
The API SQ standard, which came into effect globally in April 2025, is the most advanced engine oil specification developed by the American Petroleum Institute. Designed for modern engines, including turbocharged and hybrid variants, it offers enhanced protection and efficiency. Castrol India's rapid rollout of this new standard—just months after its global launch—demonstrates its ability to move fast and deliver world-class technology to Indian consumers.
The new MAGNATEC range is engineered to offer stronger wear protection, improved fuel economy, and enhanced performance for emission systems like catalytic converters. It's also fully compatible with India's E20 fuel blend, ensuring adaptability to evolving fuel norms. Available in viscosities like 0W-20, 5W-30, and 5W-40, the range meets not just the API SQ standard but also ACEA C2 and C3, aligning with the needs of both current and next-generation vehicles on Indian roads.
The product will be made available across retail stores and service workshops across India over the next few weeks.
