Distressing Ring camera footage shows young people scrambling on top of one another outside a home as gunmen open fire. Several gunmen can be seen shooting at random as the group takes cover. The Sun has not published any footage showing people being injured or killed. 12 people were reportedly shot in the gun battle. The three people who lost their lives were identified as a 24-year-old man, a 23-year-old man and a 19-year-old man. The 24-year-old man has been identified as Azir Harris, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. The dad-of-one had been left paralyzed by a shooting in 2018 and had since advocated against gun violence. On Monday, he was shot multiple times in his back while sitting in his wheelchair at the gathering. Harris's father, Troy, also told the outlet that the mother of Harris' one-year-old son was also injured in the tragedy. Three dead & 10 hurt in July 4 weekend mass shooting as cops slam 'wannabe thugs who fired into homes & cars at random' Speaking at the scene, Philadelphia Police Commissioner Kevin Bethel said "this is coward stuff", according to NBC affiliate WCAU. "This is, you know, you see the size of this block. I mean, just individuals just shooting randomly into houses, into cars, children out here. "I mean, this is coward, wanna-be thug stuff." One person has been arrested in connection with the shooting, Bethel said. Police are still searching for the other gunmen, and it remains unclear how many shooters were involved. 6 Azir Harris, 24, was killed in the shooting Credit: Facebook/Azir Harris 6 Police officers collect evidence at the scene in Philadelphia on Monday Credit: AP JULY 4 VIOLENCE The shooting is just one of 15 that occurred in Philadelphia between July 4 and July 7. Police reported a total of six deaths and at least 35 injuries across those incidents. Other cities, including Albany, New York; Charlottesville, Virginia; and Chicago, Illinois, also experienced deadly shootings over the holiday weekend. Gun violence often spikes around July 4 each year, a trend experts link to higher temperatures and increased alcohol consumption, according to a CNN report last year.

Kemi Badenoch breaks her silence — and Reform takes the first hit

Kemi Badenoch has been the quiet woman for most of her leadership, but she has started speaking up with a most vulgar vocabulary. At the Local Government Association, she gave the assembled Conservative group a philosophical discourse on the difference between liars and bullshitters. 'A liar will tell you something that is definitely not true,' she said, stating that this was what was opposite her at PMQs every week. However, Keir Starmer is not her biggest challenge, and she turned her more profane fire on Reform. 'Nigel Farage is a bullshitter,' she said. 'Bullshitters don't care whether what they're saying is true or false — they just say whatever.' Punchy stuff, though some may feel that she undermined her case by then declaring the Conservatives to be the party of truth. Still, at least Tory members are finally seeing their leader turn something blue. The not-so-happy first anniversary for the Labour government continued on Monday when a number of ministers found themselves barred from their own departments. Passes need to be renewed every 12 months but it seems that the civil service forgot to inform their masters of this requirement. Perhaps that's understandable. After all the U-turns, their heads must be spinning. The former transport secretary Louise Haigh resigned because of a run-in with the law, but there was a time when she enforced it. She was once a special police constable in Brixton, London, where she learnt the taste of pepper spray. 'My favourite story from that period was when we arrested identical twins in the same night separately,' she told The Political Party podcast, adding that the first was for possession of a knife. 'The first twin had given his brother's details when we nicked him,' she said. 'And then when we ran the brother's details we realised he'd skipped bail.' Eventually she decided she wanted to work among people with better sibling relationships, and so she joined Ed Miliband's Labour Party. Labour's backbenchers continue to take matters into their own hands. Perhaps frustrated with the government's sedate approach to reducing Channel crossings, a group of MPs went to France last month to see how police were trying to reduce the problem and backbenchers have been excitedly telling people of how they were given a small knife and shown how to puncture dinghies so as to render them useless. So at least someone in Westminster can claim to have slashed the boats, while the party leadership will hope this gives Labour MPs a taste for cuts. Last month we reported on the death of John Fingleton, a beloved member of the MCC who had cult status among cricket fans. 'Fingers' was spotted every year at Lord's Test matches as the man in the XXXL MCC blazer who sat on the aisle seat of the pavilion's third row. He was clearly seen when players walked on and off the pitch and, when the Test begins this Thursday, he will be honoured as his jacket will be placed on his traditional seat. His remains will also be scattered in the Lord's grounds. Fitting for a man who so loved the Ashes.

Andy Carroll takes drastic step to save Lou Teasdale romance after public row

Footballer Andy Carroll is reportedly working to save his relationship with Lou Teasdale after a series of alcohol-related arguments during a Mykonos Andy Carroll is reportedly working to repair his relationship with Lou Teasdale after a series of alcohol-fuelled arguments led to police involvement during a recent trip to Mykonos. The former England footballer, 36, is said to be blaming stress from his £20 million divorce from ex-wife Billi Mucklow for his behaviour. Carroll and Teasdale, 41, began dating in 2024 after his quiet split from Billi. But last month, their relationship hit turbulence while vacationing in Greece. Carroll was reportedly questioned twice by police, once at a busy restaurant and again at a boutique hotel, over disputes with Teasdale. ‌ A staff member at the restaurant exclusively told The Mirror at the time: 'We recognised him as the footballer Andy Carroll immediately. He seemed very drunk and furious with his partner. He was using very bad words. It was improper behaviour. The woman looked very upset.' ‌ While police spoke to Carroll at the scene and later escorted him to a local station, no arrests were made. Another source claimed: "After the restaurant episode, there was another incident at the hotel. This time, the footballer went to the police station. We know the woman stayed somewhere else that night." A British tourist alleged Carroll shouted at Teasdale: 'I'm done with us', describing him as 'very drunk' during the incident. ‌ In response, the couple issued a joint statement downplaying the events: "Whilst having a private dinner in a restaurant on a quiet holiday in Mykonos, we had a heated discussion of the sort that most couples have had on occasion. It quickly became apparent to the police that there was no reason for them to be there." 'We went outside the restaurant with them together as they insisted they wanted to 'look after' us. As far as we are concerned, the situation has been blown out of all proportion by an interested member of the public. No one was arrested, and no one was charged with anything. We are very happy, in love and looking forward to our future together.' ‌ Following the holiday, Carroll reportedly vowed to change. Determined to prove himself, he stayed sober at Glastonbury, where the couple celebrated their anniversary at a £38,000 luxury pop-up hotel. An insider told The Sun: 'After everything that's gone on lately, Andy wanted to make sure their first anniversary was special. Lou's totally teetotal so he thought it would be nice for them to spend the weekend together sober. Andy adores Lou and would do anything for her. ‌ 'He wanted to prove to her that she means more to him than having a drink and to be able to make up for what happened on their holiday so he didn't have any alcohol at Glastonbury. "He knows she deserves better and wants to put any bad behaviour in the past to bed. Andy is convinced Lou is the one for him and is determined to get his act together and propose." The couple were later seen at the festival looking close and relaxed. In exclusive pictures taken by The Mirror, the pair seemed happier than ever as they strolled around Worthy Farm one year after meeting there for the first time. The Mirror has approached Andy's representatives for comment on this story.
