Coronation Street's Gary Windass gets mistaken for Chesney

Appearing on Kevin and Liz Fletcher's Off Script podcast, the 38-year-old said he gets mistaken for Chesney Brown actor Sam Aston.
Referring to how Kelvin is still called 'Suggers' from his soap star days in Emmerdale, host Liz was intrigued to know what the public refer to Mikey as.
"It's Chesney, it's followed me around all these years. It's funny,' Mikey laughed.
"It's an in-joke at jobs" target="_blank">work that my name is Chesney.
"I guess people who dip in and out who watched it when Chesney was really young, and then tune in years later and see me, they think that Chesney grew up to be me.'
Mikey then went on to reveal how himself and Sam shared a dressing room at the show for 15 years.

However, Mikey said he "just goes along with it" when people call him the nickname – and even ask him how Chesney's late dog Schmeichel is.
Sam Aston, who played Chesney, first joined the soap in 2003, five years before Mikey.
Sam, 31, was crowned the winner of Dancing on Ice earlier this year, alongside his skating partner Molly Lanaghan.
Looking towards the future, Mickey said that he'd love to share the screen with Emmerdale rogue Cain Dingle when both soaps take part in a historic crossover episode next year.

'It's being kept top secret,' he said.
'It'll be people from both soaps mixing together for the first time ever.'
'Gary vs Cain [in the same scene] would be great – a Windass and a Dingle.'

Corrie fans gobsmacked as they realise two stars are real-life relatives

Sue Jenkins and Richard Fleeshman both appeared on Coronation Street - but many fans had no idea about their real-life connection Coronation Street has seen more than its fair share of real-life family members treading the cobbles, with cousins Brooke Vincent and Ellie Leach among those who've found fame on the show. The late Rick Neelan (played by Greg Wood) was actually the real-life brother of footballer Tommy Orpington (Matt Milburn). ‌ However, they're not the only ones with familial ties both on and off the screen. Fans were recently surprised to discover a mother and son duo who appeared on the soap years ago. ‌ In 1985, Sue Jenkins joined the cast of Coronation Street as Gloria Todd, a regular character who worked as a barmaid at the iconic Rovers Return. She also shared scenes with Julie Goodyear, who famously played landlady Bet Lynch, reports the Daily Star. Beyond her stint on Corrie, Sue portrayed Jackie Corkhill in Brookside for nine years from 1992 to 2001, and made a brief appearance in Emmerdale in 2008 as Bonnie Drinkwater. Interestingly, Sue's son is Richard Fleeshman, who also had a role on Coronation Street. Richard played Craig Harris, joining the cast in 2002 as part of the Harris family, who were hiding under the witness protection programme. His character, Craig, had some significant storylines, reports Leicestershire Live. ‌ He embraced a goth lifestyle, much to his father's dismay, and became Rosie Webster's (Helen Flanagan) first boyfriend. The plot thickened when Katy Harris, Craig's sister, killed their father after a heated row about her secret relationship with Martin Platt. ‌ Their mother, Angela Harris, tried to shield Katy, but overwhelmed by guilt, Katy ended her own life. In the aftermath, Craig planned to escape to Berlin with Rosie, but ultimately left alone, saying goodbye to the cobbles in 2006 for good. The revelation of Sue and Richard's time on Corrie left fans gobsmacked. On X, formerly known as Twitter, one viewer posted about Sue's stint on Corrie. ‌ Another fan replied: "That's Richard fleeshmans mum!" Another person remarked: "Wow, all this time watching and I never knew that, I can see her son in that photo now." A third chimed in: "Her real life son played Craig Harris, son of Psycho Tommy!"

This could well include showing his fifth wedding to wife Liz Davies, after he popped the question yet again. And the Deal or No Deal star, 76, is keen to get married again in their new Kiwi home. He told the Mirror of the proposal: 'We've been married a lot. We got married in a civil ceremony in the Cotswolds, then we went to our home in France and an Anglican minister who I knew very well came over and he was going to bless us and he did the whole thing again. 'So this became a bit of a joke with our friends. Oh yeah, we were filming on a cruise ship and the captain married us again. 'We've done four. But we want a Kiwi one. And there's a compelling reason why we should get married again, in New Zealand. We own a chapel. So why wouldn't we?' After two previous marriages he wed Liz Davies in 2009 after three years together. The couple met in 2006 when she was a stand-in make-up artist on his show, Deal or No Deal. Speaking at his wedding about how they met, Noel said: "To start with it was all very professional, but there was a look in both our eyes." Noel Edmonds and wife Liz Davies' relationship started in the TOILETS on Deal or No Deal They were married in a civil ceremony in the drawing room of Lower Slaughter Manor, a 17th century country house in the Cotswolds. Noel continued: 'I have a chapel. I acquired a chapel with the farm and as you can see, it is in desperate need of restoration. It's a fly and wasp cemetery. 'But my project, starting early next year, is to restore it completely and then Liz and I will get married for the fifth time.' It comes as the quirky host insisted that his new ITV1 show is nothing like Clarkson's Farm — because he's not as funny as the former Top Gear star. Noel exclusively told The Sun: 'When we were filming our show, some people who knew about Clarkson's Farm said to me, 'Oh, is it like Clarkson's Farm?' 'And I said, 'No, it couldn't be more different.' First of all, I'm not like Jeremy in many ways, though I wish I were. "He's brilliant. He can articulate an argument beautifully and deliver a sharp, humorous line like no one else.' Noel, 76, went on to crack a joke about his years in the showbiz wilderness. His last big gig was on I'm A Celebrity in 2018, when he was voted out after only nine days. Noel laughed: 'People still ask, 'Noel Edmonds? Didn't he die? Is he still around?' 'Yes, I'm still here — and living life to the full.' 4 For the first time, Noel will be putting his new life in New Zealand in the spotlight Credit: PA

Future of fan-favourite Coronation Street star is revealed after they went 'missing for months' amid ITV cast cull

A Coronation Street star that has been 'missing' from the show for months has signed a brand new contract with ITV bosses. The actor, who has starred on the long-running soap for a whopping 17 years now, has been rarely seen on screen lately. However, Mikey North - who plays Gary Windass - recently returned with a major storyline as he fights for his life in hospital. His future on the Weatherfield cobbles has now been confirmed, with insiders on the street telling The Sun Mikey has signed a fresh deal to stay in the role. They said: 'Mikey loves working at Coronation Street and bosses love having him so it was a no brainer for him to sign for another year recently. 'Gary's got a huge year coming up and it's all just kicked off on-screen and it's just the beginning. 'There's going to be a lot of Mikey on screens in the coming months.' MailOnline has contacted reps for Mikey and Coronation Street. The 38-year-old actor first arrived on screens back in 2008 when he was introduced to viewers along with the wider Windass family. Offscreen, the actor keeps a private life, though he's married to actress Rachel Isherwood who is known for her work in Captain America: The First Avenger. The couple wed in 2016 and have two children together. Before Mikey's disappearance from Coronation Street fans had watched his character have a furious argument with his partner Maria. Lou had set him up to get back at Maria, framing him for a night of passion that resulted in the heated exchange. He had stormed out of the flat and apparently went to stay with his mother Anna Windass, but never returned. Maria then started to worry when Gary failed to return home after his Anna's house. Corrie fans have since learnt Gary is fighting for his life in a coma in hospital after being brutally attacked. A mysterious woman is also by his bedside, referring to him as his wife, while calling him Chesney. Maria and the rest of the residents on the cobbles are unaware of Gary's condition because of the criminal giving the false name to medics. Speaking about the storyline, Samia, who plays Maria, said: 'Maria and Gary are going through a bit of a rough patch at the minute and initially, she's upset that he's left but doesn't think too much into it. 'As soon as Gary misses Liam's birthday, she has a gut feeling that something isn't right and fears something awful might have happened to him. 'Maria's mind is spiralling but she doesn't stop for a second to think who actually attacked Gary. 'She's aware he has a lot of enemies from over the years who could have potentially wanted to take revenge on him.' Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on ITV1 and ITVX.
