Kate Middleton opens up about life after cancer. ‘Really, really difficult'
According to People, while spending time at the Colchester Hospital on Wednesday, July 2, Middleton talked about what it has been like since finishing her cancer treatments.
'You put on a sort of brave face, stoicism through treatment. Treatment's done, then it's like, 'I can crack on, get back to normal,' but actually, the phase afterwards is really, really difficult,' Middleton, 43, said, according to People.
'You're not necessarily under the clinical team any longer, but you're not able to function normally at home as you perhaps once used to,' Middleton explained. 'And actually, someone to help talk you through that, show you and guide you through that sort of phase that comes after treatment, I think is really valuable.'
Middleton was visiting the Colchester Hospital to spend time at a 'specially designed well-being garden that offers a restorative space for patients, NHS staff and visitors,' People reported.
'You have to find your new normal and that takes time,' Middleton continued, 'and it's a rollercoaster, it's not smooth, like you expect it to be. But the reality is you go through hard times.'
Since announcing in September that she had completed her cancer treatments and later revealing in January that she was in remission, Middleton has slowly began returning to her public duties as a member of the Royal family.
Most recently, Middleton was seen with her husband Prince William and their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, at Trooping the Colour in June.
In January, Middleton wrote that 'it is a relief to now be in remission and I remain focused on recovery. As anyone who has experienced a cancer diagnosis will know, it takes time to adjust to a new normal. I am however looking forward to a fulfilling year ahead. There is much to look forward to. Thank you to everyone for your continued support.'
Middleton also shared a sweet video in September of her family of five spending time together after she had completed chemotherapy.
'The last nine months have been incredibly tough for us as a family. Life as you know it can change in an instant and we have had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and road unknown,' she wrote on Instagram, alongside the video. 'The cancer journey is complex, scary and unpredictable for everyone, especially those closest to you.'
'This time has above all reminded William and me to reflect and be grateful for the simple yet important things in life, which so many of us often take for granted. Of simply loving and being loved,' she continued, adding that 'doing what I can to stay cancer free is now my focus.
'Although I have finished chemotherapy, my path to healing and full recovery is long and I must continue to take each day as it comes.'

Wes Streeting: Weight-loss jabs are the ‘talk of the House of Commons tea rooms'
Weight-loss jabs have become a prominent topic within the corridors of power, with the Health Secretary revealing they are the "talk of the House of Commons tea rooms" and that "half my colleagues are on them". Wes Streeting has pledged to significantly widen access to these medications, asserting that availability should be determined by medical need rather than a patient's ability to pay. He outlined plans to ensure the jabs reach those who stand to benefit most. Currently, the National Health Service (NHS) offers these prescriptions through specialist weight-management services. Eligibility is restricted to individuals with a body mass index (BMI) of 35 or more, or those with a BMI of 30 who also have a linked health condition. Other people are paying hundreds of pounds a month to get the jabs privately. Mr Streeting told LBC radio: 'Weight-loss jabs are the talk of the House of Commons, half my colleagues are on them and are judging the rest of us saying 'you lot should be on them'. 'And the thing is, if you can afford these weight loss jabs, which can be over 200 quid a month, well that's all right for you. 'But most people in this country haven't got spared two and a half grand a year and often the people who have the worst and most challenging obesity also have the lowest income. 'So I'm bringing to weight loss jabs the principle of fairness which has underpinned the NHS. 'It should be available based on need and not the ability to pay. 'And that's what we're going to do on weight loss jabs, as well as a number of other things, including people getting more fit, more active, supporting people on diet and nutrition….that's the bit of the weight loss jab debate that sometimes gets lost. 'It's not that you can have some weight loss jabs and stuff your face with Jaffa cakes…' He said obesity cost the NHS billions a year, adding that taxes have been going 'up and up' to pay for the health service.
