'There was a time when the most dangerous thing in class wasn't a flying chair — it was a flying rotan,' Ainol wrote in a viral post. 'Now, teachers walk on eggshells, stripped of authority, while students flex their 'hak asasi manusia'.'
His comments came after police confirmed that a secondary school teacher was assaulted on July 29 after reprimanding a student for skipping physical education.
The student, reportedly unhappy with the scolding, punched the teacher in the face and issued threats. He was later detained and is expected to be charged under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt.
Ainol, reflecting on his Gen-X schooling days, said that while past disciplinary methods were harsh, they instilled respect.
'We feared teachers, headmasters, and even our parents if we crossed the line. That fear kept us in check.'
He believes today's overcorrection has left teachers powerless.
'We expect them to raise leaders and innovators, yet give them no tools, no protection — and increasingly, no respect.'

Police seeking owner of defamatory Threads account
KUALA LUMPUR: The police have yet to identify the owner of a Threads account responsible for posting a defamatory and provocative message targeting a well-known male actor and singer. Acting Kuala Lumpur police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Mohamed Usuf Jan Mohamad said he has instructed the investigating officer to contact Meta Platforms Inc, based in Singapore, to trace the account holder. 'We will also seek assistance from the Cyber Crime Division of the Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) to track the Internet Protocol (IP) address associated with the account,' he said on Monday (Aug 4). He added that the investigation is ongoing, and statements from four witnesses have been recorded. The police are currently finalising the investigation into the defamatory and inciting post, which would then be referred to the Deputy Public Prosecutor for further action. Meanwhile, Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Sulizmie Affendy Sulaiman said the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has also been asked to assist in identifying the Threads account owner. On July 18, the actor-singer lodged a police report over the post, which allegedly contained slanderous, provocative, and seditious elements, and was widely circulated online. The case is being investigated under Section 500 of the Penal Code for defamation and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for improper use of network facilities.

Flag at Port Dickson school displayed upside down by mistake
SEREMBAN: A general worker who is a slow learner mistakenly put up a Jalur Gemilang d upside down at a vernacular school in Port Dickson, says Lukut assemblyman Choo Ken Hwa. He said he visited the school immediately after a photograph of the flag went viral on Friday (Aug 1). "I met with the board of governors and the headmaster and was told that the worker was a special needs person as he was a person with intellectual disability. "I was told that the flag was immediately brought down after the school realised the mistake," he said. Choo added that by then, the photograph had already gone viral. Port Dickson OCPD Supt Maslan Udin said the police have started a probe following a report lodged by a 32-year-old man on Sunday (Aug 3). "We have identified a 30-year-old suspect who allegedly committed the offence. The flag was brought down on the same day and we hope the public will stop circulating the photograph," he said in a statement. The case is being investigated under Section 504 of the Penal Code, Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955, Section 5 of the Emblems and Names Act 1963, and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1988.
