Uttarakhand Police busts racket manufacturing fake medicines, factory owner held
The accused, Devi Dayal Gupta, owner of Dr Mittal Laboratories, had been absconding for a long time and was arrested from Dehradun, Senior Superintendent of Police (STF) Navneet Singh Bhullar said.
Gupta is a resident of Ashok Vihar Phase-2 in Delhi. With his arrest, four members of the gang, including its kingpin, have been held so far, he said.
On June 1, an accused, Santosh Kumar, was caught in the Selaqui area with a large quantity of fake packaging boxes, labels and QR codes of wrappers of medicines of leading companies such as Glenmark, Ipca Laboratories, Intas Pharma, Alkem Health Science, Dr Reddy's Laboratories and Cadila Pharmaceuticals, the SSP said.
Later, the STF arrested the kingpin Naveen Bansal and another accused, Aditya Kala. During Bansal's interrogation, he revealed that fake medicines were made in Gupta's factory in Sahaspur area and sent to places including Haryana and Rajasthan, Bhullar said.
The fake drugs included Pantoprazole 40, Diclosin SP, Levocetirizine, Prochlorperazine, Amlodipine and Telmisartan tablets, the STF said. PTI DPT NSD OZ OZ

Ajmer Dargah temple claim: Hearing postponed, next date set for August 30
Jaipur: The hearing on the claim related to a Shiva temple within the Ajmer Dargah premises was postponed on Saturday. The civil court has now scheduled the next hearing for August 30. In anticipation of the proceedings, additional police force was deployed at the court premises alongside the Civil Lines Police Station. Advocate Yogendra Ojha stated that the hearing was deferred due to the judicial officer being on leave and judicial staff observing a mass leave. He added that earlier applications submitted by the Dargah Committee and the Minority Affairs Department have been officially presented and will be debated in the next hearing. The petition was filed by Vishnu Gupta, National President of Hindu Sena and a resident of Delhi. He approached the court seeking uninterrupted worship at the Sankat Mochan Shiva Temple which he claims exists within the Dargah premises of Khwaja Moinuddin Hasan Chishti. Lawyers representing the Dargah Committee and the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) submitted separate applications stating that Gupta failed to follow the required legal procedures before filing the case. Gupta asserts that he possesses the ancient Sanskrit text 'Prithviraj Vijay', written in 1250 AD, which details the historical presence of a Shiva temple in Ajmer. He has announced plans to present the book in court along with its Hindi translation. He also cited the Places of Worship Act, arguing that Ajmer Dargah does not fall under its purview as it is categorised as an "authorised religious place" in legal terms. He added that Supreme Court lawyer Varun Kumar Sena has previously argued on this law and will present supporting evidence in court. Following safety concerns, Gupta has been provided police protection under the directions of SP Vandita Rana. The civil court accepted Gupta's petition on November 27, 2024, and issued notices to the Ministry of Minority Affairs, Dargah Committee Ajmer, and ASI. Subsequently, several parties including the Anjuman Committee, Dargah Diwan Ghulam Dastagir Ajmer, A. Imran (Bangalore), and Raj Jain (Hoshiarpur, Punjab) filed applications seeking to become parties in the case. As of January 24, two hearings have been held. In his petition, Gupta also referenced the 1911 book 'Ajmer: Historical and Descriptive' by retired judge Harbilas Sarda, which claims that debris from a temple was used in the construction of the Dargah. It further asserts that a Jain temple once stood in the sanctum sanctorum and surrounding premises.

Karan Dev was killed by his wife, who was allegedly having an affair with his cousin. The accused administered an electric shock to the victim to make it look like an accident. In a shocking case of betrayal in Delhi, a 36-year-old man who was initially to have been electrocuted to death was actually murdered by his wife over her suspected affair with his cousin. The victim, identified as Karan Dev, was admitted to the Mata Rooprani Maggo Hospital on July 13 by his wife, Sushmita, who claimed that he suffered an accidental electric shock. Karan was declared dead, and his family waived off a post-mortem as they believed it was an accident, according to a report by NDTV. However, the Delhi Police insisted on conducting the autopsy, citing Karan's age and the circumstances, while his wife and cousin, Rahul, objected. After the victim's body was sent for post-mortem, his younger brother, Kunal, told police about his suspicions that Karan was murdered by his wife and their cousin. Sleeping Pills & Electric Shocks Kunal also shared evidence of an Instagram chat between Sushmita and Rahul, in which they reportedly discussed details of the murder plan. The chats revealed that Karan's wife and brother had an affair, and decided to kill him. The duo allegedly mixed 15 sleeping pills in his dinner and waited till he was unconscious, having previously Googled the time it would take for sleeping pills to cause death. As Karan lay unconscious yet still alive, his wife casually informed her lover that she felt like taking a nap. The accused also administered an electric shock to the victim in an attempt to stage the scene as an accidental death. After the chats came to the police's notice, the duo were taken into custody. The victim's wife later confessed to killing her husband and planned his death with her brother-in-law. She said Karan had slapped and abused her a day before Karwa Chauth and would often ask her for money, which contributed to her physical and mental distress. 'Based on the initial investigation, a case has been registered under appropriate sections. The process of arrest is going on. SAD Leader Majithia's Judicial Custody Extended Till August 2 In Disproportionate Assets Case
Last Updated: In 2021, Majithia was booked under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. The action was taken on the basis of a 2018 report of the anti-drug Special Task Force. The judicial custody of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Singh Majithia was extended till August 2 on Saturday. Majithia was produced before the court in Punjab's Mohali amid tight security. He was arrested in a disproportionate assets case and was earlier sent to judicial custody on July 6. Public Prosecutor Ferry Sofat told the media after hearing in the court that the judge allowed the application to extend the SAD leader's judicial custody. Majithia was brought from New Nabha Jail in Patiala for his appearance in the Mohali court. He was arrested in the disproportionate assets case on June 25 by the Punjab Vigilance Bureau. The case involves laundering of Rs 540 crore of 'drug money". In the new FIR filed against Majithia, the Vigilance Bureau said that early investigations showed over Rs 540 crore in 'drug money" was laundered in different ways, and Majithia allegedly helped make it happen. This FIR is part of an ongoing investigation by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Punjab Police into a drug case from 2021. Back in 2021, Majithia was charged under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, based on a 2018 report from the anti-drug Special Task Force. He spent over five months in Patiala jail and was released in August 2022 after the Punjab and Haryana High Court gave him bail.
