Sir Michael Morpurgo to open Friends of Treginnis fete
The War Horse author is the co-founder of Farms for City Children and has been known to delight children staying at Treginnis with readings from his books and stories during their stays there.
(Image: Western Telegraph) The fete raises essential funds for Treginnis Farm for City Children, which offers children who have grown up in urban settings a 'week of muck and magic' in Pembrokeshire.
The fete was put on hold for six years after it was scuppered by Covid and wild weather. It returned last year but without Sir Michael who had had a health scare.
The fete is a great way to fundraise for the farm and to visit this spectacular spot at the end of the St Davids Peninsula, one of the the furthest flung farms in the UK.
(Image: Friends of Treginnis) This year's fete opens at 1pm. Entrance costs £5 per person, children of school age are free.
There will be children's games such as giant Connect Four, hop-scotch, hula hoops, giant noughts and crosses and many more, as well as bouncy castles.
There will be plenty of stalls including craft, bric a brac, books, cakes, RNLI, and a tombola and Treginnis Farm will be selling home-grown own vegetables and flowers.
There will also be the big raffle with some wonderful prizes to be won.
(Image: Western Telegraph) Refreshments include tea, coffee and cakes, beefburgers and hot dogs from the St Davids Penknife Club barbecue, strawberries and cream and beer brewed at St David's Old Farmhouse Brewery.
The Pembrokeshire Ukulele Band, Vox Angelica and Mike Chant will provide musical entertainment
St David's Fire Engine will make an appearance during the afternoon and St John's Ambulance will be in attendance all day.
(Image: Western Telegraph) Four legged friends are also welcome and can enter the dog show to with a rosette for the friendliest face, the waggiest tail or just a lovely temperament.
Richards Bros will be running a free bus from the Cross Square to Treginnis, starting 1pm all afternoon. The bus will run all afternoon with the last bus returning from Treginnis at 5.30pm. There is also plenty of parking at the farm.
'This is an important date, please put it in your diary and come along and enjoy an afternoon of fun at Treginnis,' said Mary Edey, secretary of Friends of Treginnis.

But when his last wishes were made public in 2024, it became clear that Leslie's will had been changed during the Covid crisis. The new will, approved in the Court of Protection, was substantially different to the one drawn up by Leslie the day before the couple married in December 2013. In 2014 Leslie suffered a massive stroke, and Zara quit work and looked after him until his death in November 2022. Leslie's first will had allowed Zara, his third wife and 36 years his junior, to stay in his £4million West London home for the rest of her life. But former air stewardess Zara discovered that a new will states the property must be sold and the proceeds put into a trust fund to be divided between her and Leslie's two sons and two daughters from his first marriage to actress Penelope Bartley. The new will, drawn up in November 2020, insists Zara has to be out of the five-bed property next month. According to a legal letter seen by The Sun, if she refuses to go, lawyers will apply to the courts for possession. Fighting back tears Zara says: 'Where would I go? I am in ill-health, old and frail, not well enough to move and I am still grieving.' Leslie's personal life was plagued by tragedy. His first wife Penelope died in a house fire in 1981, while Leslie was in Australia. The following year he married Bond girl Angela Scoular, who killed herself in 2011 with a lethal cocktail of drugs and alcohol after suffering terminal bowel cancer. Zara, a friend for more than 20 years, helped Leslie come to terms with Angela's death. They fell in love and married in December 2013. The actor's estate is valued at over £5million, including the house, which he bought in the 1960s at the height of his fame. When Covid shut down the country in 2020, Zara protected Leslie from the effects of the pandemic. But at that time Leslie changed the will, giving Zara just two years nine months after his death to vacate the house. Zara says: 'I was very vulnerable that time. The country was in the grip of the Covid crisis. 'I was the main carer for Leslie, who was disabled. His will was not my priority at that time. Strictly star swaps ballroom for Hollywood with movie debut
Olympic champion and former Strictly Come Dancing star Nicola Adams has lined up her debut acting role in an upcoming Hollywood movie. Former professional boxer Nicola, 42, appeared on the 18th series of the BBC dance competition in 2020. She made history when partnered with professional dancer Katya Jones as the show's first-ever same-sex partnership. However, her Strictly dreams were cut abruptly short when they were forced to withdraw during the fourth week of the competition, after Katya tested positive for Covid-19. She returned to the spotlight the very next year as a Strictly hopeful and has since expressed how much she'd love to return as a contestant due to 'unfinished business' after her premature departure. Of her decision to retire, Nicola said in 2019: 'I'm immensely honoured to have represented our country—to win double Olympic gold medals and then the WBO championship belt is a dream come true.
