BEIJING — Saudi Arabia inaugurated its pavilion at the 2025 Beijing International Book Fair, which kicked off at the China National Convention and Exhibition Center on Wednesday. The pavilion is arranged by the Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission, with the participation of several cultural and national entities.
The five-day fair is part of the 2025 Saudi-Chinese Cultural Year, reflecting the strength of bilateral relations built on decades of enduring friendship and continuous cooperation and embodying both nations' aspirations to enhance cultural and intellectual exchange between their peoples.
The Saudi pavilion features prominent cultural entities led by the Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission, along with the King Salman Global Academy for Arabic Language, King Abdulaziz Public Library, King Fahd National Library, the Prince Muhammad bin Salman Award for Cultural Cooperation between Saudi Arabia and China, the Translation Association, the Publishing Association, and the Nashir publishing and distribution company. These participants present a collaborative platform that highlights the richness of Saudi culture and boosts its global presence.
During the exhibition, the pavilion presents a diverse literary and cultural program that reflects the growing momentum of the Saudi cultural scene, showcasing the country's evolving creative and intellectual landscape. It also enhances the Kingdom's presence on the global publishing map and offers visitors insight into Saudi Arabia's experience in content development and talent empowerment.
The pavilion embodies the spirit of cultural dialogue and openness, making the exhibition a key international platform to showcase Saudi efforts and initiatives in the book industry and its tools while deepening literary and cultural relations with intellectual figures and global publishing houses.
The cultural program will include seminars, literary gatherings, and dialogue sessions that highlight cultural exchange between Saudi Arabia and China, aiming to build long-term partnerships in literature, publishing, and translation. Saudi Arabia's Diriyah Art Futures (DAF) hosted its inaugural Mazra'ah Media Arts Residency Open Studio this week at its headquarters in Diriyah, according to the Saudi Press Agency. The event served as a valuable opportunity to showcase the behind-the-scenes work of the research and artistic projects developed by the Spring 2025 cohort of artists and scholars. The first cohort consisted of the following participants: UK-based artist Dr. Stanza Indian artist Harshit Agrawal Saudi artists Arwa Yahya Alneami, Reem Alnasser, and Reem Alfagih Japanese curator and scholar Mizuho Yamazaki German scholar Anett Holszheid The night featured various artist talks, studio walkthroughs, as well as interactive sessions in DAF's XR and fabrication labs. Interestingly, attendees had the opportunity to visit the audio studio, extended reality, and production lab. There, they interacted with creative experiments and discovered the research and technical processes behind them. Mazra'ah Media Arts Residency provides selected participants with access to labs and studios, a budget for production costs, as well as a dedicated production team. To highlight the effect of technology on natural and constructed landscapes, the participant presented projects under the theme of 'High-Resolution Dreams of Sand.' Diriyah Art Futures represents a strong partnership between the Saudi Museums Commission and Diriyah Company. The new hub seeks to leave a strong impact on the new media and digital art landscape through the integration of regional voices into the global art and technology. Summer Splash 2025 is coming to Jeddah, Riyadh and Al-Khobar, bringing fun and energy along with a wave of refreshing excitement to beat the summer heat. Organized by Race Arabia, the running event is open for participants of all ages and fitness levels, from newbies to regular joggers and professional athletes. Summer Splash 2025 is a series of fun run events, offering engaging outdoor experiences for families and friends. It features interactive booths, children-friendly activities and a vibrant community atmosphere that attracts both adults and children. The event will kick off in Jeddah on July 4, 2025, at ROSHN Waterfront, passing by the charming shores of the Red Sea. The second stop is Riyadh, on July 11, 2025, at Wadi Namar. Then, the final run will take place in Al-Khobar on July 18, 2025, at Al-Khobar Northern Corniche. Summer Splash 2025 offers two race categories so participants of all ages can enjoy the running event and splash fights. It features a 5 KM run for runners aged 8 and above, and a 1 KM fun run specially-designed for children aged 7 and under. Moreover, the event will feature an awards ceremony after the conclusion of the races. Participants will also get a certificate of participation and personalized photos. Importantly, registered participants should collect race kits on July 3 in Jeddah; July 9-10 in Riyadh; and July 17 in Al-Khobar at the locations announced on Race Arabia's website.
