Kate Middleton dazzles in iconic tiara at first state banquet in almost two years
The Princess of Wales joined the senior members of the Royal Family at Windsor Castle's state banquet to welcome French President Emmanuel Macron this evening Kate Middleton looked exquisite in a glittering tiara tonight as she attended her first state banquet in nearly two years alongside a whole host of famous faces. The Princess of Wales donned the Lover's Knot tiara and red gown with caped back detailing by Sarah Burton for Givenchy as she attended the event alongside King Charles, Queen Camilla and her husband Prince William. Around 160 guests were in attendance for the white tie dinner at Windsor Castle, which is the glitzy highlight of the French state visit. French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte are being treated to the grandeur of royal hospitality in the historic St George's Hall. Kate, who was diagnosed with cancer in early 2024 and announced earlier this year that she is now in remission, last graced a state banquet in November 2023, when the Royal Family welcomed the South Korean president at Buckingham Palace. Just last week, she opened up about her tumultuous journey through cancer recovery, its profound effects on her life, and maintaining a "brave face" during an engagement at Colchester Hospital. Kensington Palace only confirmed her attendance at tonight's opulent dinner after she fulfilled her Royal obligations marking the commencement of the state visit earlier today, the Mirror reports. Prior to the banquet, William and Kate offered a glimpse into their evening attire by sharing a photo on social media captioned: "Ready for what promises to be a wonderful State Banquet this evening in Windsor." For the first time, Kate donned her Royal Family order from King Charles and accessorised with a lily of the valley embroidered evening clutch. Joining the festivities tonight are also Edward and Sophie, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, along with Princess Anne and her husband Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence. Queen Camilla dazzled in an ivory silk and crepe evening gown by Fiona Clare, complemented by a diamond and sapphire tiara once worn by the late Queen. She also adorned herself with the Legion d'Honneur French sash, Garter Star, and the King's family order. The star-studded dinner was graced not only by royals but also by famous faces from the world of celebrity, including Sir Mick Jagger, who owns a chateau in France. Other attendees included actress Kirsten Scott Thomas, who resides in France, First Dates star Fred Siriex, a French national, and former Lioness goalkeeper Mary Earps, who recently played for Paris St Germain. She was spotted sharing a laugh and handshake with Prime Minister Keir Starmer before the commencement of the dinner as they engaged in conversation. In the meantime, the King enlisted his friend and King's Foundation ambassador, French chef Raymond Blanc, to collaborate with the Royal Household in curating the menu, designing the first course and the dessert. Blanc was present in the Windsor kitchens on Tuesday evening, ensuring the dishes were served flawlessly. The menu, penned in French as per state banquet tradition, commenced with a selection of tender summer vegetables from the Gardens of Le Manoir, accompanied by Sage, Raw Tomato and Extra Virgin Olive Oil Dressing. This was followed by Supreme of Rhug Estate Chicken with Norfolk Asparagus and Tarragon Cream, and concluded with Iced Blackcurrant Parfait on a Blackcurrant-soaked Sponge with Elderflower Jelly for dessert. Buckingham Palace described the collaboration as being "in the spirit of the Entente Cordial". In a tradition initiated by the King, a unique cocktail named L'entente was crafted for the occasion. This delightful concoction blends British gin with lemon curd and French pastis, garnished with dried French cornflowers and English roses. A selection of French wines was on offer, alongside Taylor's 1977 Vintage Port and a 1948 Grand Champagne Cognac, chosen to commemorate the birth years of both Mr Macron and the King. The tables were adorned with flowers handpicked from the gardens of Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle and Windsor Great Park. Post-banquet, these blooms will be delivered to hospices and care homes for the elderly. Following the banquet, guests will adjourn to the Windsor Castle Music Room for a special performance by the BBC National Orchestra of Wales. This dinner concludes a hectic day for the Prince and Princess of Wales who were present to welcome Mr and Mrs Macron at RAF Northolt this morning as they arrived in the UK. The princess has already showcased diplomatic Royal dressing in honour of the King's guests, opting to wear an ensemble from French fashion house Christian Dior for her daytime engagements. Her earrings were a cherished possession of Diana, Princess of Wales, and the pearl necklace was a piece from the late Queen's collection. The Princess of Wales was seen in a blush pink Christian Dior jacket, the 30 Montaigne Rose Des Vents Bar Jacket from the 2024 collection, paired with a tulle skirt. The piece was reimagined by Maria Grazia Chiuri, drawing inspiration from the original design created by Dior himself in 1947. Kate's stylish hat was designed by Jess Collett. Join the Daily Record's WhatsApp community here an Upon meeting French leader Mr Macron, who had just disembarked from his plane at RAF Northolt, the princess received a charming air kiss to her hand. Meanwhile, Prince William and the President engaged in a warm handshake and conversation. State banquets have been relocated from the Buckingham Palace ballroom to Windsor for the foreseeable future due to ongoing refurbishment work at the London Royal residence. In recent months, Kate has made a few public appearances, including Trooping the Colour, the annual Order of the Garter service, and a visit to a V&A storage facility in London. However, she was notably absent from Royal Ascot in June as she continues to find a balance between public appearances and her ongoing cancer treatment.

Brooklyn Beckham holidays with in-laws amid fears he'll snub sister's birthday
Nicola Peltz's family have been joined by her husband Brooklyn Beckham on a summer holiday to Saint-Tropez recently and she's given fans glimpses into the trip this week Amid rumours of a rift with his own family, Brooklyn Beckham was seen enjoying a holiday abroad with his in-laws in a video shared by his wife Nicola Peltz this week. The family have been soaking up the sun on a summer vacation. Brooklyn, 26, and Nicola, 30, headed to Saint-Tropez in France recently for a getaway with some of her family. The couple were spotted out shopping on the trip abroad this week, with them looking loved up in the area. It's understood that have spent time onboard a yacht on the holiday. They are thought to have been joined by Nicola's parents Nelson Peltz, 83, and Claudia Peltz, 70, as well as her brothers Will Peltz, 39, and Zach Peltz, 22. Nicola gave glimpses into the trip on Instagram yesterday. It included posting about her "fam fam" by sharing footage of herself and Brooklyn socialising with other members of their party whilst on the family holiday this week. The video showed the couple stood beside other guests, including Will and Zach. She wrote: "Fam fam." The group, including Brooklyn, were seen raising champagne flutes in a toast in the post and he later shared it on his account. Another post shared by Nicola showed the couple's bed. It had fairylights draped over it and a candles were visible in lanterns placed around the room, in an apparent gesture by her husband Brooklyn. Tagging him, she wrote in the caption: "You're my world." He later shared that post too. Brooklyn spending time with his in-laws comes following the suggestion that he "doesn't really feel like he fits into" his own family at the moment. The speculation comes amid rumours of a rift between Brooklyn and his parents, David Beckham, 50, and Victoria Beckham, 51, in recent months. It was reported on the weekend that Brooklyn is expected to miss his youngest sibling Harper Beckham 's 14 birthday on Thursday amid rumoured tension with his parents. A source told the Mirror: "He took a stand and missed his dad's 50th so he's not likely to suddenly do a U-turn and forget everything that's happened, as much as he loves Harper." The source said: "He didn't want it to turn out this way and he's always been really close to all his siblings, but he is a married man now and his priorities have to lie somewhere else." They added: "He just doesn't feel his family have treated Nicola well and now that he's grown so close to her family in the States, he doesn't really feel like he fits into the Beckham family right now." Brooklyn married into the Peltz family in 2022. Last week, he expressed his love for them in a post marking his father-in-law Nelson's birthday, sharing a heart emoji alongside a group photo from celebrations for the occasion. Nicola wrote in her post for the occasion: "Happy birthday dad! I am so lucky to be your daughter, you're the most loving and supportive father I could ever dream of. I love you more than I could ever begin to express - you're the wind beneath my wings. I loved celebrating you yesterday! Thank you for always being there for us - our constant love and support." Amid rumours of a rift with David and Victoria, Brooklyn and Nicola have publicly supported each other. Just like she did in her post yesterday, Brooklyn previously suggested that his wife is "his world" in a post shared last month, for example.

Kate Middleton's reaction to strange Macron gesture after wife ignores him 'speaks volumes'
The Princess of Wales was given an unusual greeting by French President Emmanuel Macron and a body language expert has revealed what Kate's reaction to it means Kate Middleton was greeted by French President Emmanuel Macron with an unexpected air kiss to her hand and an expert has now explained the future Queen's reaction to it. Both the Prince and Princess of Wales were at RAF Northolt this morning to greet Macron and his wife Brigitte as they arrived in the UK for a state visit. As Kate and William emerged from their jet, the French leader offered his hand to his wife as she walked down the stairs but she declined his help. The president then warmly greeted William with a hand shake and held onto his arm as they conversed. Mr Macron then took Kate's hand and delivered a courteous air kiss towards it. Macron being brutally snubbed by his wife comes just weeks after Brigitte appeared to slap him in the face during a heated disagreement on an official tour in Vietnam. Despite Mrs Macron appearing to refuse her husband's hand, body language expert Judi James says the French leader's charm offensive could not be thwarted, the Mirror reports. She told the Mirror : "Anyone expecting a repeat of the infamous 'Shove de visage' gesture from Brigitte to her husband as they stood at the entrance to their plane here would have been thwarted as this time Macron bounced out alone and Brigitte appeared a few seconds later to descend by herself. "Would there be a display of performed coupledom from the pair then, who did seem to want to erase the push from our consciousness via some tender-looking arm-holding and affectionate glances during their actual visit to Vietnam? "The suggestion here was a big fat 'Non'. Despite holding his hand out to his wife like a showman presenting the lead star on stage, Brigitte appeared to ignore the offer, even turning quickly to greet her hosts rather than taking his hand in an affectionate clasp once both her feet were on the tarmac. "But Macron's charm offensive would not be thwarted. After a micro truncated ritual that hinted he might just have been going for a cheek-kiss to William, he settled for a handshake that he peppered with add-on hand grasps and clasps to suggest familiarity and friendship." When it came to Kate Middleton's reaction to the president, Judi explained how the princess appeared to take his kissing gesture. She added: "When his display of gallantry became distilled into a quaintly antique air hand-kiss that he seemed to have fashioned out of her offered shake. "This is a difficult ritual for the modern woman to respond to as it tends to prompt an embarrassed giggling in these more feminist times. "But Kate smiled gracefully, perhaps aware that it would be Brigitte's turn next as Charles opted to lift the back of her hand right up to his lips to maintain eye contact as he planted his own lips."
