The unexpected switch has many calling it the latest chapter in the ongoing 'Festival Wars', a rising trend where global festivals compete to bag premiere rights for highly potential films. While Cannes has long been considered the pinnacle of auteur-driven cinema, TIFF's growing global influence and audience reach have made it an increasingly strategic choice for filmmakers seeking both acclaim and visibility.
This shift also marks a significant moment for Bobby Deol, whose career renaissance continues to surprise audiences and critics alike. Fresh off the success of 'Animal', Bobby is said to be in an entirely new avatar in this film, raw, dark, and unlike anything he's done before.
'Bandar' is being described as a gripping drama with layered characters and hard hitting reality - typical of Kashyap's bold storytelling style. With powerhouse cast adding further depth to the narrative, the project has already started generating buzz as one of the must-watch Indian films at TIFF 2025, and expectations are sky high.

STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD With her recent release Mrs and her powerful performance winning praises, Sanya Malhotra has once again proved that she is one of the most versatile and bankable actresses in content-driven cinema. Be it the satirical charm of Kathal, the intense drama of Sam Bahadur, or the action-packed spectacle of Jawan, she has showcased her remarkable range as a performer. Fans and industry peers have flooded social media with admiration for the actress, who will next be seen alongside Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor in Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari. In an exclusive interview with Firstpost, Malhotra talked about her film Mrs, why her father apologized to her mother after watching it, why she would never want to relate to this character, and the opportunity of working with Shah Rukh Khan in Jawan. The actress revealed, 'I think we had a very solid script in our hand. Our writer, Anu, and our director, Arati, they worked on the script for a year. They brought their own lived in experiences to make the film personal, and I think I had that. When I was preparing for it, I met and interviewed a lot of women to know where they were coming from, if they have faced similar challenges and struggles as Richa, which was really helpful. I think that helped me to make Richa's character what she is on screen because I have seen it very up close and personal with the women around me who have been in these sort of situations, but I have never experienced it myself.'
