London Finale Promo: Rounds 15–16 Double
A heartwarming video from the International Space Station featuring Indian astronaut Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla has gone viral. Captured just hours before the AX4 crew began their return to Earth, the video shows the astronauts playfully struggling to pose for a group photo in zero gravity. Shared by NASA astronaut Col Anne McClain, the crew set up a camera to auto-click every 5 seconds, floating, posing, and laughing through the chaos. Shukla's 20-day mission saw him orbit Earth over 300 times, traveling more than 13 million km. He conducted 7 experiments for ISRO and now returns with 580 kg of cargo. As the AX4 mission ends, this candid space moment has brought smiles back on Earth.#shubhanshushukla #ax4mission #spacephoto #isscrew #indianastronaut #isro #spacelife #nasaviral #microgravity #toi #toibharat #bharat #trending #breakingnews #indianews

Researchers discover new species of diurnal gecko in Assam
1 2 3 Guwahati: A new species of diurnal (day-active) gecko, measuring between 30.8 to 35.7 mm from snout to vent, has been discovered in Assam . The species has been named 'Cnemaspis Brahmaputra' in homage to the Brahmaputra river, enriching India's reptilian diversity. The discovery was detailed in the scientific journal Taprobanica: The Journal of Asian Biodiversity by a team of researchers, including Amit Sayyed, Madhurima Das, AA Thasun Amarasinghe, Rupankar Bhattacharjee and herpetologist Jayaditya Purkayastha. Purkayastha said the new species belonged to the Cnemaspis Podihuna clade, a group of small, diurnal geckos previously believed to be largely restricted to Sri Lanka. "Its discovery in Assam strengthens the evidence for an ancient biogeographic link between Sri Lanka and the northeast, reflecting historical faunal exchanges across the Indian subcontinent. The species is genetically and morphologically distinct from its Sri Lankan relatives, showing significant evolutionary divergence," Purkayastha said. The discovery marks 'Cnemaspis Brahmaputra' as only the second species of the genus 'Cnemaspis' known from the northeast, the first being 'Cnemaspis Assamensis', described in 2000. Both species are members of the podihuna clade and are confined to the Brahmaputra river valley. However, they are found on opposite banks of the river and exhibit substantial genetic differences. The new species differs from 'Cnemaspis Assamensis' by about 6.0 to 7.2%, while showing a more pronounced divergence of 21.2 to 24.8% from its related species in Sri Lanka, based on differences in their ND2 genes. Purkayastha said the gecko was spotted on the premises of the Dirgheswari temple, located on the northern bank of the Brahmaputra.

Will cook his favourite food when he comes home: Shux's mom
Lucknow: Seated together in the packed auditorium of City Montessori School, Shubhanshu Shukla 's alma mater, his family watched live telecast of the splashdown and undocking from the capsule with anxious eyes, here on Tuesday. They were overwhelmed with relief and pride when his safe return was confirmed. Shubhanshu's father Shambhu Dayal Shukla said, "He has achieved this feat on behalf of the entire country, so it is a proud moment for the nation. When the splashdown took place, I thanked God, but I couldn't breathe easy until I saw him undocking from the capsule with a smile on his face. It was the biggest moment of my life. Watching him wave felt like he was telling us he was safe. This is the dream of every father—to see his child reach the stars and return home. Now the whole family is looking forward to meeting him and giving him a collective family hug." The astronaut's mother Asha Shukla said, "I kept chanting prayers the whole time. The cheering in the auditorium was loud, but in my heart all was silent with worry.
